2009 is the third season with the Blizz for running back Scott Allard. Scott is an exceptional talent who was a standout collegiate player at RPI (NY) from 1997-2001 and also played in Glens Falls (NY) prior to joining the Blizz. His rare combination of power and speed allowed him to post one of the best offensive seasons by a player. In 2008, Allard was at or near the top in numerous statistical categories - Rushing Yards, Carries, TDs, Receptions, etc. He earned EFL all-star status, was named 2008 Irish Blizzard Offensive Player of the Year, and Minor League Football News All-American for the 2nd straight year. In 2007 as a rookie, he lead the team in rushing... he was 3rd in scoring.... and he was also able to contribute in the passing game by receiving as well as exceptional blocking. He was an EFL all star in 2007 and was Team Rookie of the Year.

Admas' 2008 season may have been his best yet. He is a dominant blocker who also has the big play capability of a #1 receiver. He was recognized by MLFN as the top TE in teh country. Adams registered 35 catches while leading the team with 549 receiving yards and 8 receiving touchdowns. Adams rejoined the Irish Blizzard in 2007 season after a 2.5 year absence from the team. His impact was immediate as he was named Minor League Football News all-american, EFL all-star, and Irish Blizzard Offensive Player of the Year. The EFL named him 2007 Comeback Player of the Year. He was second on the team in scoring, led the team in TDs, and was recognized as MLFN or EFL Player of the Week 3 times. Adams previously ceased his duties with the Irish Blizzard in 2004, taking a job with the Rhode Island state police. In 2005, Adams was inducted into the Irish Blizzard Hall of Fame (see 'Hall of Fame' tab in the upper left of the page). Adams was a constant at Tight End for the Irish Blizzard during his Irish Blizzard career. Adams had great work ethic and always led by example. These leadership qualities earned Adams a role as captain of the Irish Blizzard for two seasons. Adams' combined size and athleticism always made him a go-to guy for the Blizzard offense. He was an excellent receiver as well as run-blocker. Adams used these same skills at Assumption College, where he starred at both football and track. Adams played one season in Spain between the 2001 and 2002 season.

Known for his quickness and great hands, Link adds another option to the Irish Blizzard offense. The former MLFN all-american makes a move to the Blizz and EFL after 10 years in the NEFL, NIFL.

2009 is the sixth season for Chris with the Clinton Irish Blizzard. Chris was a collegiate standout at Curry College, earning all-conference (NEFC) at Defensive Back. Chris was voted team Defensive MVP twice and was captain during his senior season. Chris was a 4-year letter winner at Curry. Chris made the move to the Irish Blizzard for the 2004 season and started his career with a bang, notching 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery against defending chapion Middleboro Cobras in his EFL debut. Chris went on to earn EFL All-Star status as well as Team Rookie of the Year for 2004 by contributing on defense (4 INT's) as well as Special Teams (1 Punt Ret. TD). Chris continued his stellar play in 2005 by contributing defense (2 Ints, 2 Fum Rec) and Special Teams (2nd on team in Return yardage). In 2006, Chris was named 'Specialist of the Year' for his impact on special teams. He was again, one of the top cornerbacks in the league and recognized as a league all-star for the '06 season. Chris has been a captain for the Blizz 2007-2009. He continues to anchor the Blizz secondary and has totalled more than 10 INTs ove rthe last 3 years.

2009 is the follow-up to a notable rookie campaign in 2008. Gamble burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2008 and made his mark. Gamble earned 2008 EFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and Irish Blizzard Offensive Rookie of the Year honors by posting 700 yards rushing on 99 carries. Gamble added a team-leading 9 TDs and also rushed for a 2-pt conversion. In a week 3 win over Charlestown, Gamble rushed for 3 TDs and a 2-pt conversion.

2009 is the sophomore season for Gareth with the Irish Blizzard. Gareth is coming off of an impressive rookie season with the Irish Blizzard in 2008, a season in which he stood out defensively as well as on special teams. Gareth started in the secondary for the Irish Blizzard and chipped in with 2 interceptions and solid play all year long. He earned the team's 'Defensive Rookie of the Year' award. In additon to his solid defensive play, Gareth proved to be a dangerous Kick / Punt Returner on Special Teams. Gareth had a decorated football career at Curry College in additon to being a standout baseball player.

2009 is the fifth season for John with the Clinton Irish Blizzard. He stands as one of the top QBs in the nation. In 2008, John posted another stellar season. He was an EFL All-Star and MLFN All-American. He threw for a career-high 24 TDs in 2008. In 2007, Riccio earned the Eastern Football League's highest honor - Most Valuable Player. He was also Team MVP for the second straight season and Minor League Football News Honorable Mention All-American. He capped the '07 season with a 6TD performance (5 Pass, 1 Rush). In 2006, Riccio was Team MVP and EFl all-star. He threw for over 1600 yards, and was extremely efficient with a 2:1 TD to interception ratio. John assumed the role of starting quarterback in 2005 and showed no effects of a six year absence from football. He opened the 2005 campaign with a 4TD performance and earned Minor League Football News' 'Player of the Week'. Riccio went on to have two 300-yard passing games in orchestrating the Blizz offense in 2005. Riccio made a name for himself at WPI where he was all-Freedom Football Conference twice (1998 and 1999) and set WPI and FFC single season records for passing yards, total offense, pass completions, and attempts.

Dwayne is one of the rising stars of the EFL. 2009 is his fifth full season with the Irish Blizzard. In his first season (2005), Forbes contributed at both DE and Fullback, logging time on both sides of the ball. His breakout game came in the final weekend of the 2005 season when he registered 3 sacks from his DE position. Dwayne has blossomed into great player and a great leader. He continues to evolve into one of the best defensive players in the league. Forbes led the team in sacks in 2006 and was second in fumble recoveries. His consistent play and ability to rush the passer as well as stop the run made him invaluable. He was a 2006 EFL all-star. His progression continued in 2007 as he was recognized by his team (Defensive Player of the Year), the league (EFL all-star), and national publications (Third team regional all-american - Minor League Football News). In 2008, he again anchored the defensive line for the Irish Blizzard and turned in another consistent effort.

James Learned enters his 10th season with the Clinton Irish Blizzard. Learned is one of only two players remaining on the roster who have been with the Irish Blizzard since they joined the EFL in 2000. An all-UCAA receiver in college, Learned brought his talent to the Irish Blizzard in many forms - rushing, receiving, and returning. A truly versatile player, Learned has produced multiple 100-yard games as a tailback in past seasons, including a 163-yard rushing performance in 2003. His main role though has been at wide receiver for the Irish Blizzard. Known for his sure hands and crisp routes, Learned has led the Irish Blizzard in TD's and receptions in various seasons. Learned has also contributed as a kick returner in past seasons. Learned has earned all-star recognition twice and was voted 'Team Most Valuable Player' for the 2002 season. 2004 marked another milestone for this veteran, as Jim started a game in the defensive secondary (safety) for the Clinton, adding to his resume as 'do-it-all' player for the Irish Blizzard. He has had multiple games over the last 2 seaons (2007-2008) in which he has played every down - offense, defense, and special teams. In 2008, Jim Learned was honored with the EFL Sportsmanship Award. Learned led the Clinton Irish Blizzard with 40 receptions for 451 yards and 5 receiving touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown. Learned caught at least two passes in all 10 games he played and hauled in 6 catches for 96 yards and 1 touchdown in a week 9 game at Randolph

2009 is the nonth season for Jamie Cairns with the Clinton Irish Blizzard. Cairns joined the Clinton Irish Blizzard after an accomplished collegiate career at WPI. Cairns was a 4-year starter and letter-winner for WPI and transitioned nicely into the defensive line for the Clinton Irish blizzard in 2001. Cairns has always been considered one of the most consistent and fundamentally sound lineman to have ever put on the green and gold. His versatility and skill has allowed him to excel on both the offensive and defensive line. Over the years, Cairns has been recognized by the Irish Blizzard (2001 Team Award) as well as the Eastern Football League (2002 and 2003 All-Star) for his consistent play. Jamie is a captain for the Irish Blizzard and also has been recognized as MLFN all-american in consecutive seasons (2005-2006). Cairns was also an outstanding High School player in the state of Rhode Island (North Kingstown HS), earning all-state honors as a Defensive End.

2009 is the 10th season for Brian with the Clinton Irish Blizzard. Brian joined the Blizzard after a short stint with a semi-pro team in San Jose (CA). Brian was an All-American defensive back at WPI (1993-1997) and was inducted into the WPI Athletic Hall of Fame (2004). Brian has started at strong safety / outside linebacker in each of the past nine seasons. He has earned EFL all-star status three times and was Team Defensive Player of the Year in the inaugural season of 2000. Learned was recognized as MLFN all-american in 2006.

2009 was the fourth season (2005-2007, 2009) for Ross with the Clinton Irish Blizzard. Ross played strong safety for the Dutchmen of Union College (NY) and was part of a program that compiled a 39-6 including Runner Up in NCAA Stagg Bowl, ECAC Champs, NCAA Quarterfinals. Ross coached college football prior to coming ot the Blizz - 6 Years as an assitant coach on the defensive side of the ball, 3 years as Defensive Coordinator. Ross earned Rookie of the Year for the Blizz in 2005 as well as EFL All Star. His flexibility and athleticism made him a valuable part of the Blizz defense. Ross was an all-star, MLFN all-american and Defensive Player of the Year in 2006. In 2007, he earned EFL all-star for teh third consecutive season

2009 is the fifth season for Matt with the Clinton Irish Blizzard. Surette has established himself as one of the premier offensive weapons in the EFL, using his size and athleticism to distance himself from defenders. Surette returns healthy again after injury shortened seasons 2006-2008. In 2005, Surette led team in Receptions, Receiving yards, and Receiving TDs. He was an EFL Finalist for Rookie of the Year, the team Offensive MVP and 2005 EFL All Star. Surette is recognized as one of the most accomplished Div. III college players in recent memory - including all-america honors and multiple NCAA, Freedom Football Conference, and WPI records.

In October 2006, matt was honored by his university as he was inducted as part of the 23rd Class (Class of 2006) of the WPI Athletic Hall of Fame.

2007 was the second season for Santiago with Clinton. In a shortened season for Santiago, he still led the team in scoring and was second in Tds. The 2007 season came on the heels of his record-setting rookie season (2006) which looked like this... he led the team in TDs (13), Rushing Yards, and was second in receptions during his first season with the Clinton. He scored multiple TDs in a game 3 times in '06 (3 TD - 07/15, 3 TD - 08/19, 2 TD - 09/16). He was recognized by the Minor League Football News as ‘Eastern Region Player of the Week’ 3 times as well as Eastern Football League ‘Offensive Player of the Week’ twice. He also handled the kicking duties. He finished the season by being recognized as EFL all-star, MLFN all-american, and Team Offensive Player of the Year. Santiago joined the Irish Blizzard in 2006 after a very accomplished college career at St. Anslem (NH) where he was a leading receiver and punt returner. Santiago also had an outstanding high school career on the local gridiron (Clinton HS, Clinton, MA).

Rembijas enters his fourth season with the Irish Blizzard in 2008. Rembijas brought a wealth of experience as well as a very accomplished football resume to the Irish Blizzard in 2005. His all-state status in High School (RI) and all-UCAA / all-ECAC honors in college (Rensselaer, NY) are small examples of what he has accomplished on the gridiron. His immediate impact was felt by the Clinton defense in 2005 as he picked off two passes from his linebacker spot and was known for his punishing tackles. Rembijas starts his fourth season at linebacker for Clinton.

Artie enters his 5th season with the Clinton Irish Blizzard in 2006. Barnes has been a ‘quiet leader’ for the Irish Blizzard and was named one of the captains for 2006. His consistent play, leadership, and overall effort have made him into one of the most important players on the Irish Blizzard defensive unit. His contributions to the defense, both as a proven run-stopper as well as a skillful pass-rusher, make him invaluable. His resume over the past four seasons include numerous EFL and team awards. Artie played his college ball at UMass Boston.

Win or Lose, Football is fun for Lorin Reed

WESTBORO — By profession, Lorin Reed is a health and wellness teacher at Westboro High School.

However, on Saturday nights during the summer and early fall, he suits up for the Clinton Irish Blizzard semipro football team.

Reed of Westboro and his offensive teammates have been tearing up the league this season. The Blizzard (3-3) are averaging just under 29 points a game, and about 350 yards of total offense....

CLINTON— Mechanical engineer by day, football player by night and a father-to-be. Such is the life of 6-foot-3, 375-pound Clinton Irish Blizzard offensive lineman Josue Diaz.

Diaz, a 32-year old first-year player, has been a key cog in the Irish Blizzard attack, consistently protecting quarterback John Riccio and opening space for running backs like Matt Santiago and Mike Bogdan. Diaz works hard and gets the job done, but is quick to note that the success of the line is a team deal, not an individual one...
