The Eagles had a good showing at the Keswick Invitational this weekend by finishing 3rd out of 16 teams.  The team went 3-0 in Pool Play before losing to Tarpon Springs HS (Tournament Champions) in a very tough Semi-Final match that went 3 games (25-27, 25-11, 13-15).  The Eagles rebounded from the loss with a win against Countryside HS for the 3rd place trophy by battling back after dropping set #1 (21-25, 25-17, 15-6)

Emiline Lazzeri and Ashley Llerena were named to the All-Tournament Team with GREAT performances in all the matches.  Ashley Llerena also recorded her 2000th Assist of her career against Shorecrest Prep on Friday evening!!!!! The team was led by the following players during the weekend tournament:

The Eagles opened up their 2012 season with a very strong win over Canterbury School of St. Pete this evening by the scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-8.  The team showed great chemistry on the court after waiting a week to play since their last Pre-Season match vs. Clearwater.  The team recorded 13 Aces and served 90% accuracy.

The team was led by the following players:

Aces - Ashley Llerena (3) 

Assists - Ashley Llerena (24)

Kills - Emiline Lazzeri (12)

Digs - Ashley Llerena (18), Marissa Brown/Emiline Lazzeri (16)

Blocks - Brooke Morten (2)

This week the Lady Eagles returned to the court with a NEW and YOUNG looking team during their two Pre-season matches against St. Pete High and Clearwater HS.  The team started off very sloppy against St. Pete High and never found a rhythm to their game as St. Pete High defeated the Eagles 3-0 (27-25, 25-15, 25-21).  

The team worked hard on Wednesday to correct a few things that needed to be corrected to get ready for Clearwater.  The work paid off as the Eagles defeated Clearwater 3-0 (2011 7A Regional Finalist) by the scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-20.
