Illinois USSSA announced today that the Slammers will be inducted into the USSSA "HALL of HONOR" on November 7, 2015. We won the USSSA World Series in 2008, 2009, 2011. We were runner-ups in the 2012 and 2014 World Series and finished 3rd in 2010 and 2013.

NSA Womens World Series Championship Trophy
.
Mary Connolly (DePaul) checks out the impressive NSA Championship Trophy after pitching the tournament championship game. The Slammers overcame a determined Lady Hearts team 6-5 as the clock ran out at the end of six innings. Mary, Taylor Carter ( Eastern TN State ) and Jenna Nolan (IL Wesleyan) all pitched outstanding games as the Slammers won their second consecutive NSA World Series. The five tournament 2014 season concludes with the Slammers winning three tournaments, one runner-up and one 4th place finish. Final 2014 record was 25 wins and only 7 losses. Great job and best of luck to all of you who wore a Slammer uniform this summer!
.
Solid Defense
Both Jenna Marsalli 3B (UIC '14) and Jackie Kisman SS (Oakland Univ '15) had a great NSA World Series both on offense and defense.
.

DePaul's Mary Connolly and Nicole Pihl
.
Only Kelsi Jones appeared in more games this summer than Nicole Pihl who was flawless on defense at first base, hit with power and had a season avg of .390. Mary Connolly was the backbone of the Slammers pitching staff while hitting .466 with 3 HRs and 17 rbis. On the mound she racked up 71 2/3 innings with an 11-2 record and 1.17 ERA. Heading into her final year at DePaul Mary's career honors at are many with 2014 as her finest year with the bat and on the mound: 2014 BIG EAST Player of the Year - 2014 All-BIG EAST First Team - 2014 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team - 2014 Great Lakes Region First Team. We will not be surprised to see Mary wearing a professional uniform next summer.
.

Kelsi Jones - Louisville
.
Over her three years with the Slammers Kelsi has not missed a game while establishing herself as one of the most prolific and consistent run producers in Slammer history. Just as she did in the two previous seasons Kelsi led the 2014 Slammers in most offensive categories including games played (32), runs (23), HR (7), and RBIs (34) all while maintaining a .435 BA. Not to be overlooked is her outfield play where her great throwing arm cut down several runners. We wish Kelsi all the best as she enters her senior year as a member of the Louisville Cardinals.
.
.
 Gena Lenti - DePaul
.
Gena was a part-time player in 2014, but had a big impact leading the Slammers in the final two tournaments with a batting average of .476. A skilled slapper and fine outfielder Gena now enters her Junior year at DePaul

Sammy Marshall - Western IL University
Slammers vs Team Netherlands
Bandit Stadium in Rosemont, IL July 17,2014
Sammy's one out triple down the left field line in the final inning gave the Slammers a chance to get on the board, but was stranded as the Slammers lost 4-0 to a fine Netherlands team. Sammy Marshall's '14 season batting average of .478 was 5th highest nationally in NCAA D-1 softball.
.

Pregame Introductions
 .
After playing a great defensive game the Slammers couldn't get the offense in gear and took another
tough loss at the hands of a fine Dutch National team. Final score was Netherlands 4 Slammers 0.

With a liner over 2nd base new Slammer Andrea Filler (NU) got the Slammers first hit in the 2nd inning, but other than a triple by Sammy Marshall, a double by Nicole Pihl and singles by Mary Connolly, Coryn Schmit and Jordan de los Reyes the Slammer bats were stifled by Dutch pitching.

Mary Connolly held the Dutch scoreless for 4 innings until the Netherlands scored 2 runs on 2 hits in the 5th. Gatorade Indiana Softball Player of The Year Miranda Elish finished the 9 inning game surrendering the final 2 runs but again showed tremendous poise facing World class women's competition.

Defensive Gem
In the first inning Slammer SS Whitney Arion picked up a grounder and immediately fired a strike to catcher Jordan de los Reyes to nail a speedy Netherlands runner attempting to score from third. The game remained scoreless until the 5th inning when the Dutch scored 2 runs. (Photo Copyright@http://www.dutchsoftballteam.com)

.
By agreement the Slammers and Netherlands agreed to play a 9 inning game. The Slammers had an explosive first inning scoring 5 runs as Jackie Kisman and Whitney Arion opened the game with back to back bunt singles followed by doubles from Mary Connolly, Jordan de los Reyes and Jenna Marsalli. The 5th run of the inning was driven in with a single by Nicole Pihl.
.
With DePaul's Big East Player of the Year Mary Connolly on the mound the Slammers carried a 5 - 3 lead into the 5th inning where the ball was handed to Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year Miranda Elish. The Netherlands then tied the game in the top of the 5th scoring 2 runs on no hits, 2 walks and 2 throwing errors. Elish showing great poise for a young pitcher gathered herself and struck out the side in the 6th inning. In the 7th inning the Netherlands took a 6-5 lead with 1 run on 2 hits but Elish was then perfect retiring all 6 batters she faced in the 8th and 9th innings.
.
In the bottom of the 9th Whitney Arion drove a one out triple to the fence making it to 3rd with a hustling head first slide. Unfortunately she was stranded at third with the tieing run and the final score was Netherlands 6, Slammers 5. This was the first of two exhibitions the Slammers will play with the Dutch. Next game will also be in Rosemont at 7 pm on Wednesday, July 16th.

Jackie Kisman
Slammer leadoff hitter Jackie Kisman beats out a perfectly placed bunt to start the first inning offensive outburst that saw the Slammers jump to a 5-0 lead over Team Netherlands. The Dutch eventually overcame that deficit and won the game 6-5.

  Great job Miranda!
Sammy Marshall and Miranda Elish
.
Facing a world class Netherlands team the Slammers were very fortunate to have Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year Miranda Elish on the mound along with DePaul's Big East Player of the Year Mary Connolly. Between them they held the Dutch to only 7 hits in this 9 inning exhibition game. Also great to have Sammy Marshall in the line-up vs the Dutch. Sammy plays for W. IL University and ended the 2014 season with the 5th highest batting average nationally in D-1 softball.

Out stealing!
Slammer shortstop Whitney Arion takes a perfect throw from catcher Jordan de los Reyes to cut down Netherlands runner Jessie van Aalst who had singled with 2 out in the first inning.

After a narrow 3-2 loss to IL Lightning in first game of pool play, the Slammers used great defense, raw power and the pitching arm of Mary Connolly to beat their next 5 opponents and capture the USSSA IL State Women's Championship for the 6th time in the last 7 years. The championship game against Lady Angels saw Slammer firstbaseman Nicole Pihl break a 4-4 tie with a 2 out 7th inning 2 run blast over the left field fence giving Mary Connolly her 4th win of the tournament.

Kelsi Jones is greeted by Casey after her 5th inning grand slam in semi-final game against the Angels. Flawless relief by Katie McKay for the final inning earned starting pitcher Mary Connolly the victory as Slammers won 7-1. Selected along with Connolly and Jenna Marsalli for the All Tournament Team this was the 2nd of Kelsi's tournament leading 3 home runs over the weekend.

EXHIBITION
Slammers vs Chicago Bandits
The Ballpark at Rosemont
May 25, 2014
.
* Congratualtions to long time Slammer stars Kirsten Verdun and Natalie Hernandez who were the only two players selected from tryouts to make the 2 time Professional Champion Chicago Bandit roster. Kirsten was the winning pitcher keeping the Slammers scoreless as the Bandits beat the Slammers 11-0 in this extended to 8 inning free substitution exhibition game.
.
Although the Slammers were shut own on offense they sparkled defensively. In the 3rd inning with Bandits on 2nd and 3rd and one out, Slammer SS Sammy Marshall ( W IL) speared a hard hit grounder, fired home where catcher Brooke Reimenschneider (ISU) blocked the plate tagging the sliding runner. Seeing a Bandit runner trapped between 2nd and 3rd Brooke alertly ran the runner back toward 2nd and fired a strike on the bag where second baseman Jackie Kisman (Oakland U) tagged out the diving runner completing the double play and keeping the game scoreless for Brit Gardner through 3 innings.
.
In the Bandit 4th inning, with a runner on first base, Slammer left fielder Kelsey Jones (Louisville) quieted the Bandit crowd with a running, spectacular leaping catch of a deep line drive, again preventing the Bandits from scoring their first run. The Slammers now head to the Bloomington Hearts Tournament June 7-8 to kick off the 2014 tournament season.
.
