The Pitcher and Catcher duel of Jennifer Sparks and Jessica Allemandi have commited to play the 2006 season at City College of San Jose. Centerfielder Britney Sanford has commited to Santa Clara University as a walk on player.
INFERNO OPENS UP SUMMER 2005 WITH A BANG
June 5, Hayward, CA - The Inferno of Cupertino captured the first Pacific Coast Championship Series tournament of the year by beating the Nor Cal Rebels in the championship game 3-2 in extra innings. With this championship the Inferno has earned an automatic bid to this years Pacific Coast Finals, to be held this year in Roseville, CA on October 1st and 2nd.
INFERNO HAS ANOTHER STRONG SHOWING
June 13, 2005 Stockton, CA
The Inferno of Cupertino had another strong showing this past weekend in the R&R Gold Shootout held at the Arnaiz Fields (formerly Brookside Christian) in Stockton. The Inferno for the second week in a row made it to the Championship game, however this week with a different result loosing to a tough Fresno Force team 3-1. The Inferno racked up wins against; Crossfire, R&R Gold, Young Guns and the Folsom Flash on its way to the finals.
The team now is preparing for its major road trips to Cincinnati and Surrey British Columbia to compete in the Slugger Fest II and Canada Cup showcase tournaments held June 23-26 and July 3-10.
INFERNO HAS STRONG SHOWING IN CINCINNATI
June 26, 2005 - Cincinnati, Ohio - The Cupertino Inferno had another strong showing this time in the Slugger Fest II tournament held in Cincinnati. The Inferno made it to the Championship game of the Western Bracket before loosing to the Miami Valley Xpress 4-3 in extra innings. The Inferno and Express had already split a pair of close games prior to their final meeting in the Western Championship game. The Inferno finished fifth with the Xpress going on to finish second.
INFERNO FINISHES STRONG IN CANADA
July 17, 2005 - Surrey British Columbia.
This years Inferno team traveled to Surrey British Columbia to compete in the 2005 Canada Cup. The tournament featured many teams from Canada and the US as well as two teams from China. The competition was fierce as the Inferno drew a pool of powerhouse teams; including last years Canada Cup runner-up the Georgia Fire, an 18 Gold team, and an all-star team from the Providence of Saskatchewan. Coach Steve Allemandi commented that it was very humbling experience but we looked forward to turning it all around when it counts during the elimination tournament.
The Inferno got back on track during the single elimination consolation tournament beating the North Vancouver Stars 11-2 and the number one seeded Nor Cal Rebels 4-0 before loosing in the semi finals to the local favorite the White Rock Renegades.
INFERNO CONTINUES ITS ROLL BUT FINDS A NEMISIS
July 17, 2005 - NAPA, CA
The Inferno started its latest Pacific Coast Challenge tournament in Napa as hot as the weather opening Saturdays pool play with an 11-0 thrashing of Sudden Impact. In the second game the Inferno played to a 2-2 tie with the Bay Area Hurricanes setting up their final pool game against a previous undefeated Tornadoes team who the Inferno defeated 4-3 in the bottom of the last inning on back to back doubles by its two catchers Jessica Allemandi and Jacque Kuhny.
On Elimination Sunday, Jennifer Sparks pitched a gem as the Inferno beat the Napa Valley Express 4-1 followed by another pitching gem. This time by Kayla Farrell who pitched 8 scoreless innings before the Bay Area Hurricanes pushed a run across in an International Tie Breaker inning.
