Thunder 12u take Halloween Havoc! The Indy Thunder 12u won their first tourney of the fall season by going undefeated during tourney play and winning the Halloween Havoc. They Thunder girls played great defense and hit the ball well all weekend on their way capturing their first title of the season. Congrats ladies and keep up the hard work. Monday, May 18 Thunder 14u takes 4th in "A" Center Grove Invite Monday, May 18 Thunder 12u takes 4th in "A" Center Grove Invite Pool play was washed out due to the Friday night storms. After a blind draw, the Thunder faced off against the Edgewood Elite Bulldogs. The Thunders sloppy play allowed the Bulldogs to open a quick 4-0 lead. The Thunder battled back to tie the game 4-4 only to see the game slip by in a 5-4 loss on a 2 out 2 strike hit. The Thunder then were forced to play a win or go home game Saturday night against the Indy Intensity. The girls were up to the challenge and won 10-9. Sunday morning brought a game against the Indy Diamond Chix. The Thunder was up to the challenge and pulled out a 2-1 win behind solid pitching and hitting. The next game brought a match up against the Center Grove Xplosion. The Thunder played one of their most complete games of the year in defeating the Xplosion 8-1. The next game brought a re-match with the Bulldogs. The Thunder jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead only to see mental miscues and lack of concentration lead to a 5-2 loss. After being forced to take the long road to the finals by battling their way through the losers bracket, the girls did a great job of playing one game at a time and winning 3 of the 4 games they played from the losers bracket. Thunder 10u take 2nd in "A" Center Grove Invite The Thunder 10u opened pool play Friday with a 3-0 victory over the Indy Rockets. Soon after, the storms rolled in and pool play washed out. After a blind draw, the Thunder was faced with a difficult road to the finals. The girls faced off against the Indy Xcel 98 and fell 5-0 to drop to the losers bracket. The Thunder was forced to play Saturday night in a win or go home game and the girls were up to the challenge in defeating the Rockets once again 4-3. Sunday morning brought a rematch against the Xcel. The Thunder jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held the Xcel to 2 runs for a 4-2 victory. The next game brought the Indy Gators. The girls found themselves in a tight game and pushed the winning run across in the bottom of the 4th with no time remaining for a 6-5 win. The Thunder then faced the Indy Diamond Chix in the finals. After 3 straight games, the girls started to show their fatigue and ran out of gas in falling to the Chix 13-1. The girls were faced with steep hill to climb and defeated each team they faced to reach the Championship. Great job ladies and enjoy your weekend off. Monday, May 11 Thunder 14u takes 3rd at Mother's Day Classic Monday, May 11 Thunder 12u takes 3rd again in Mother's Day Classic The Thunder 12u opened pool play against the Indiana Diamonds with a 7-4 win. The Thunder then squared off against the Indiana Voltage and fell 5-0. In the final pool play game, the Thunder worked on some aspects of their game to get ready for bracket play on Sunday and fell 8-5 to the Indy Edge. The Thunder opened bracket play on Sunday with an 11-1 win against the Bloomington Lightning. The Thunder then faced the Kentuckiana Slammers. This game turned out the be the game of the tourney and the stands and fences were packed to watch this great game. The Thunder and Slammers battled to a 3-3 tie to send the game into 4 extra innings before the game was finally decided. The Thunder's defense stepped up with an unbelievable catch of a bobbled ball in right field to end the inning and keep the game tied. The next inning brought another great defensive play with a strong throw on the money from right field to the plate to stop the game winning run followed by an immediate throw from the catcher to 2nd base to turn an inning ending double play to send the game to it's final inning. The Thunder pushed another run across the plate and held the Slammers scoreless to pull out a thrilling 7-6 9 inning victory. The Thunder then faced the Voltage again the in semi-finals but they left everything they had on the field the prior game and fell 8-0 to end their run. Monday, May 11 Thunder 10u takes 3rd in Mother's Day Tourney The Thunder opened pool play against the Indiana Diamonds at 8:00 AM and the girls were not up to the challenge and fell 8-1. The Thunder then faced the Bloomington Lightning next and pulled out a 5-4 win in the final inning. The final pool play game brought a common opponent in the Indy Edge. A six hour break did not help the Thunder as they fell to the Edge 10-0 to finish 1-2 and earn the #2 seed for bracket play. Bracket play started Sunday morning and the Thunder faced the the Alley Cats the first game. The girls started slow but turned it on and won 9-5. The Thunder then faced the Edge again. The girls jumped out to a 3-0 lead and finished the off the Edge with a game ending double play to win 4-2. The Thunder then faced off against the Tsunami in the semi-finals. The girls kept getting runners in scoring position but they could not get the timely hits they needed and fell to the Tsunami 6-3. Overall, the girls had a good weekend and kept up their 3rd place streak. Saturday, May 2 Thunder 10u, 12u, & 14u washed out All three Thunder teams were washed out over the weekend. All 3 teams head to Edinburgh for the Mother's Day Classic. Good luck ladies. Sunday, April 26 Thunder 14u at Sportsplex Spring Fling Sunday, April 26 Thunder 12u take 3rd in "A" Sportsplex Spring Fling The Indy Thunder 12u started pool play strong against the Indy Dreams 97 only to see a couple mental errors put them on the wrong side of a 4-1 loss. The ladies opened Saturday morning against the Red Chix and quickly opened a 3-0 lead only to see mental miscues again cost them allowing the Red Chix to tie the game and send into extra innings before finally losing 8-4. The Thunder then regressed and played their worst game of the year and fell the Indy Edge 7-1. Faced with the #5 seed, the 12u Thunder then used their final pool play game to work on various aspects of their games to get ready for the single elimination tourney on Sunday. As a result, they fell to the Cincy Doom 10-0. The ladies opened tourney play against the Edge Sunday morning and quickly jumped out to 4-0 lead and finished the Edge off with a 6-3 victory. The Thunder then faced the Cincy Doom again with the winner advancing to the Championship game. This game was a great battle and was 0-0 through 4 complete innings with neither team able to push a run across the plate. However, in the 5th the Doom finally pushed the first run across and then 2 more in the sixth to complete a 3-0 win. The 12u Thunder played great all weekend. Although their 1-5 record does not reflect it, the first 2 games could have went either way if the mental miscues were removed, which could have resulted in a 3-3 or even 4-2 record for the weekend. Great job ladies. Sunday, April 26 Thunder 10u take 3rd in "A" division at Sportsplex Spring Fling The Indy Thunder 10u earned the #1 seed in their pool by going 2-0 in pool play by defeating the Hoosier Pride and Indiana Raiders. However, the Thunder let their first tourney game against the Indiana Magic slip through their hands and was faced with a long road back to the championship. The girls faced the Red Chix first thing Sunday morning and won 16-5. The Thunder then faced the Hoosier Pride again. The Thunder had a few miscues and let the Pride tie the game to send it into extra innings. However, the girls came out in extra innings and put the game away scoring 9 runs to win 15-6. The 10u girls were faced with their 3rd game in a row against the Indiana Magic and an opportunity to play for the championship. The effects of the wind and warm temperatures were apparent as the girls dug themselves into a 6-0 hole going into their final at bat. However, the girls rallied to put 6 runs on the board in an effort to send the game into extra innings. It looked like the game was heading into extra innings with 2 outs and a runner on second when the Magic was able to squeeze a line drive just off the top of the short stops glove to score the winning run and beat the Thunder 7-6. The Thunder 10u went 4-2 on the weekend to finish 3rd and continued to build on the early success. Great job ladies. Sunday, April 19 Thunder 14u rained out Sunday, April 19 Thunder 12u rained out The Indy Thunder 12u took its second 3rd place finish in a row due to the rain shortened weekend. The Thunder went 2-0-1 but due to giving up 1 run in their final game, they were given the #3 seed when play was canceled. Sunday, April 19 Thunder 10u rained out The Indy Thunder 10u finished pool play 1-2 and were poised to make a run at the start of the tournament play but the weather washed out play. However, the Thunder posted their first shut out of the year. Saturday, April 11 Thunder 14u open 2009 season Saturday, April 11 Thunder 12u open 2009 season The Indy Thunder 12u opened the 2009. The Thunder started out strong posting a shut out the first game of the year but the effects of a long winter showed and placed 3rd in their first outing. Saturday, April 11 Thunder 10u Open 2009 season The Indy Thunder 10u opened their 2009 season with a third place finish this past weekend. The first no-hitter of the year was thrown during the final game of the round robin. Great Job Ciera, keep up the hard work. Sunday, November 11 Our Trip to Kabuto's Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar Sunday, October 14 2008 Indy Thunder Halloween Party Sunday, July 15 Thunder takes 2nd in "A" Ben Davis Tuneup The Indy Thunder 10U battled the heat and 4 straight games to finish second in the 10U "A" division at the Ben Davis World Series Tuneup. Good luck girls at the NSA "A" World Series in Charlotte, NC. Monday, July 2 Thunder 10U go 7-0 to capture USSSA Crown! The Indy Thunder 10U went 7-0 and outscored their opponents 78-14 to capture the USSSA Crown in Brownsburg. The team hit .535 for the weekend, which included 2 home runs and a grand slam. The Thunder also pitched 5 consecutive shut outs, which included a perfect game. The Thunder outscored their competition 59-0 in the last 5 games.
Sunday, June 10 Indy Thunder 10U Caleb Wassen Champs! The Thunder went undefeated and closed out the championship with a 2 hit shutout performance. Congrats ladies.
