NEBRASKA IMPACT VBC: Welcome

CLUB PRE-TRYOUT CLINICS OFFERED FOR ALL!!!
Do you want to brush up on your skills before club tryouts begin? Nebraska Impact's clinics, before club starts, will be held Sunday, November 8 and 15, 2009, at The Courts Volleyball Facility.  Clinics begin at 1:00 p.m.  Sessions are two hours long.  Clinics are $40 per person PER SESSION.  Reservations are preferred.  Walk-ins are welcome but will be charged a $5.00 late fee.  Please note that if you play for your high school team (freshman, reserve, junior varsity or varsity), you cannot attend a clinic until after your high school team has been eliminated from State competition.  But you can attend one-on-one lessons with any of our coaches.  Click here for registration form.

One-On-One Private Lessons!
If you would like to schedule a private lesson with one of our coaches, please contact Debi at 402-339-6951 or 402-699-1021 or you can email her at mdgodek@cox.net.  One hour private lessons are $60 per hour per person.  If you want to share a lesson with friends: 2 players - $45 per person; 3 players - $40 per person; 4 or more players - $35 per person.

2009/2010 CLUB TRYOUTS
Club tryouts will be held Saturday, November 7, 2009, for 14, 13, 12, 11, 10 & under players and Saturday, November 21, for 15, 16, 17 and 18 year old players. 

Nebraska Impact plans to field the following teams:

18 Select, 181, 18/17, 17 Select, 171, 16 Select, 161, 15 Select, 151, 14 Select, 141, 13 Select, 131, 121, 122, 111, 101.

TRYOUTS WILL BE AT THE DIGZ, located at 140th & old "L" Streets, Omaha (NOT at The Courts where we practice).  Mark your calendar now.  

November 7 Tryout Times are: 14's @ 8:00 a.m.; 13's @ 10:00 a.m.; 12's, 11's, 10's & under @ 1:00 p.m.
November 21 Tryout Times are: 18's & 17's @ 8:00 a.m.; 16's @ 10:00 a.m.; 15's @ 1:00 p.m.

USA VOLLEYBALL JUNIOR OLYMPIC VOLLEYBALL AGE DEFINITION For use during the 2009-2010 Season For eligibility purposes, a player who has just completed a grade in the Spring of 2009 will be considered in that grade just completed. Players need not be currently enrolled in high school except as noted below. Once a player participates in a club or varsity program for any university, college, community college, or junior college, he/she is ineligible to play in any regional or national JOVC qualifying and championship events.
18 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 1991 (9-1-91 through 8-31-92) or Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 1990 and a high school student during some part of the current academic year
17 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 1992 (9-1-92 through 8-31-93)
16 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 1993 (9-1-93 through 8-31-94)
15 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 1994 (9-1-94 through 8-31-95)
14 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 1995 (9-1-95 through 8-31-96)
13 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after Sept 1, 1996 (9-1-96 through 8-31-97)

NEBRASKA IMPACT TEAMS UP WITH XPLOSIVE EDGE
Designed specifically for volleyball athletes, the Xplosive Edge has teamed up with Impact to create the superior power athlete. Trained only minutes from The Courts located inside the Omaha Sports Complex at 147th & Giles, Impact athletes can train immediately before or after practice with X-edge. Emphasis is put on increasing strength, balance, agility, and range of motion, all while developing more power. These Impact Volleyball athletes are increasing their vertical jumps while at the same time learning how to jump and land on the ground as well as accelerate and decelerate. Plyometrics are included in our training regimen only when the athlete has become strong enough to control their bodies in space. Impact athletes are trained twice a week (45 min. sessions) right before or after their practice. Each athlete is pre and post performance tested to see their own individual performance index score created by Boyd Epley of Epic Athletic Performance.

The Xplosive Edge would like to offer 2 pre-tryout performance 100 and 101 camps to all volleyball players looking to increase their performance and get ready for tryouts.  This camp is specifically for athletes that want to increase their vertical jump, power, and agility before tryouts so they can compete at a higher level of play. This camp will be run by the professional performance coaches of the Xplosive Edge and  will be tailored to the needs and movements of competitive volleyball.  All Training will be done at the Courts.  See below for details and cost.  All athletes will train 2x per week (1hr. Sessions) on either Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday.  It is imperative that each athlete receives 2 days of recovery in-between training sessions so they will need to stick to these two options.  Click here for a registration form.

Mark A. Pletka Memorial Scholarship Fund Offered by Nebraska Impact VBC
Mark was killed in a car accident in 2008.  He was an avid volleyball player in the Omaha area and a long time friend.  This memorial scholarship fund was created in Mark's name to keep his memory alive and to give deserving Nebraska Impact players scholarship grants to help defray their 2009/2010 club fees.  Click here for a scholarship application form.  Send it to Nebraska Impact VBC, c/o Mike Godek, 7785 Greenleaf Drive, LaVista, NE 68128.  Deadline is December 1, 2009.  If you would like to donate to this very important fund, please contact Debi at 402-339-6951.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULES!
Tournament schedules are posted on the Great Plains RVA website weekly.  You can find your team's playing schedule usually by the Wednesday before your tournament.  The Great Plains website address is www.gpvb.org.  Click on "Juniors" and then "Tournament Schedule".  Scroll down the page to the tournament your team is playing in that weekend.  There will be a link to click on that will show when and where your team plays that particular weekend.  Click here to go directly to the page. 

NEBRASKA IMPACT QUALIFIES THREE (3) TEAMS FOR NATIONALS!!!
Our Impact 17 Select Toxic, 16 Select Inferno and 15 Select Banzai teams have qualified for a bid to the Girls Junior Nationals Championships to be held in Miami, Florida this summer.  The 17 Select Toxic team will play in the American Division June 28th through July 1st.  The 16 Select Inferno team will play in the American Division June 26 through June 29 and the 15 Select Banzai team will play in the National Division June 30 through July 3rd.  Good luck girls!
