Dear Urban Initiative League Presidents, As you all know, the Little League Urban Initiative Program is a vigorous attempt to provide access to the benefits of the Little League program to boys and girls within urban communities where safety, security and comfort are not common realities for children. Our goal, therefore, is to identify and then create or renew baseball and softball programs in these communities bringing the values of teamwork, fair play, respect for authority, and the desire to excel to the children’s lives. Each of you are receiving this email because your leagues are already a part of the Urban Initiative. As a part of our continuing efforts to develop and grow Little League Softball within the Urban Initiative leagues across the country, we have joined with SUBWAY to offer a special opportunity for the Little League Softball coaches in your leagues. On Saturday, April 2 nd , 2011 , there will be a FREE softball coaches clinic, for Little League coaches of all levels. The clinic will be hosted by Horner Park NW Little League in Chicago, IL, and is sponsored by SUBWAY, the Little League Urban Initiative Program, and Little League International. The clinician will be former collegiate softball coach, Cindy Bristow of Softball Excellence ( www.SoftballlExcellence.com ), and she will focus on the fundamentals of pitching, throwing, fielding, hitting, and practice setup and organization. Attached to this email you’ll find an informational flyer with more details about the clinic, as well as a registration form that needs to be submitted by March 30 th . This will be a great opportunity for Little League softball coaches of all skill levels, so make sure your coaches take advantage of it. Don’t delay, register today! SAFETY PLAN
A SAFETY PLAN is available for download in the miscellaneous handout section of this website. This document contains a complete Safety Plan. In it are items surrounded by symbols that should be replaced with local information. Example: <>. Also compare the checklist with the new 2009 checklist on the Little Leaguw website. That was not available when this document was created.
This plan has been approved by the Illinois District Administrators Assocation.
If you click on the "divisions" heading on the home page, you will be able to see which districts make up which sections. The districts making up each section are based on the 2007 tournaments. The districts could change each year depending on which districts are participating.
