Thunder Depart Las Vegas ASA Nationals w/ a 4 - 2 Record
The Illinois Thunder finished with a 4 - 2 record at the 18U "A" ASA National in Las Vegas. The Thunder won their pool defeating the Fresno Force (Ca.) 10 -3 and Mankato Peppers (Minn) 4 - 3. Bracket play included victories over SureFire (Ontario, Ca.) 6 - 3 and the Delaware Storm (5 - 1). Hard fought losses to the Pittsburgh Power (5 - 4 in international tie breaker) and Rip Tide Gold (New Port Beach Ca., 4 - 3) were the Thunder's two defeats. The 4 - 2 record left the Thunder as 1 of only 2 Illinois teams with a winning record at the national tournament.
Thunder win Pekin National Qualifier - Earn Bid to 2009 ASA Nationals in Las Vegas !!
The Illinois Thunder earned a bid to the 2009 18U "A" ASA USA National in Las Vegas by winning the Pekin ASA National Qualifier. After a hard fought 1 - 0 victory over the Midland Magic earlier in the day and a 4 - 1 victory over the Illinois Bandits, a rematch in the championship game saw the Thunder defeat the talented Magic team 6 - 4 to capture the tournament victory and a bid to ASA Nationals in Nevada. Las Vegas here we come !!
This team is dedicated to the development of elite fastpitch athletes who have a desire to play at the highest level with the goal of playing college ball. We play an aggressive tournament schedule of ASA tournaments as well as college exposure tournaments.
