With 2 of our three pitchers moving on to collegiate careers, next year we will be looking for a top pitcher to join one of our existing pitchers (Makenzie Walker - 2013 verbal Lamar University) for the Fall 2012-Summer 2013.
The Illinois Chill 18 (Morris) will return with 9 players from it's current roster for 2012-13. We will play in all of the major National showcases in the Fall and the Summer and will hope to again qualify and attend either PGF Nationals or ASA Nationals as we did this past year.
If you are interested in a confidential discussion, please contact Patrick Morris 312 515-3028 morrisp@jbltd.com

Lake Central (IN)'s all-area Bridget Boyle verbally commits to play for the University of Illinois at Chicago for the Fall of 2012!
Ilinois Chill pitcher and infielder, Bridget Boyle, verbally committed today to sign a NLI to play for former Olympian, Coach Michelle Venturella, and the rest of the UIC staff, including Assistant Coach, Sami Baugh. Boyle will work with UIC pitching coach, two-time Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, Eileen Canney who joined the Flames this year. Boyle also joins two Illinois Chill alumnae on the roster, pitcher, Devin Miller, and catcher, Teresa Aguilar .
Coach Pat Morris said "We are thrilled for Bridget and her family. She has not even scratched the surface of her potential as a pitcher and as a hitter. We have no doubt she will suceed at the next level. I just hope Coach Venturella is ready to defend herself from Bridget's humor".

Southland Conference Athletic Powerhouse Lamar University adds softball as a D-1 sport in 2013!
New Lamar Head Coach Holly Bruder selects two-time All Conference Makenzie Walker of the Illinois Chill to lead one of her founding classes.
Head Coach Pat Morris says: “Makenzie will be a great addition to this new program. She is extremely athletic, motivated and vocal and leads by example on the field as a pitcher, fielder and hitter. She is accustomed to success and works hard to achieve it, even in the face of high expectations that she sets for herself. Her energy and drive--in the circle, at the plate and in the dugout are contagious. Mak is the type of competitor who steps up under pressure - she is a gamer and never shies away from a challenge. With players like Mak, I expect Lamar to succeed in the conference within the short term".

Grayslake North HS All State and three-time All Conference pitcher, Kristi Gandy, committed to Lake Forest College this week.
Lake Forest College selects Kristi Gandy to lead it in the circle!
Head Coach Pat Morris says: "I expect Kristi to have continued great success at the college level as she has for us. She is one of those pitchers that comes along once in a coach's career-she just goes out, throws strikes, gets batters out, pitches as many games as you want (sometimes with undisclosed flu) smiles, never complains and hits a few home runs to boot! She has tremendous God-given ability, but you rarely see a pitcher who works so hard on all aspects of her game. She NEVER gives up and the team EXPECTS to win when she is in the circle..what a joy"

Molly Morrison, New Trier Class of 2012, commits to Georgetown.
Head Coach Pat Morris credits Morrison's intellegence, work ethic, and determination for her success:
"I knew 8 years ago that Molly had a lot of God-given talent; she is incredibly physically talented. But unless you are around her a lot, you don't really pick up how unbelievably determined she is. Mentally, she is one of the toughest catchers that I have ever seen".
The entire Chill team wishes you congratulations, Molly and continued success in the classroom and on the field .

Congratulations to Emily Woller on her National Letter of Intent with Northern Illinois University!
Head Coach Pat Morris credits Woller's work ethic that allowed her to develop into a true "five tool player"
"Emily is the only player that we have ever had who can legitimately play catcher, infielder and outfielder. Just ask her, she can do it. She hits in both the lead off-spot or in the middle of the order. She hits for power and for average. She runs well and has a terrific arm. A coach's dream".
Congratulations, Em. We're happy you're staying home where we'll be able to see you play!

Congratulations to Nicole Evans, Trinity High School class of 2013, who verbally committed to the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.
Coach Pat Morris states: "The sky is the limit for Nicole. She has tremendous "pop" at the plate, and excellent range and good speed in the infield and outfield. But most importantly, she is an unbelievable competitor. The intensity that you see in her complete fearlessness is rivaled only by the 1000 watt smile".
Best of luck Nickel!

Be part of a proven organization.
Illinois Chill Organization Ranked 49th best overall program in the Nation (21/50 from California).
Only three organizations in top 50 in Nation from Illinois! (Beverly Bandits, Illinois Chill and Southern Force)
While we are flattered at the ranking, we're not highlighting it as anything other than a general recognition of our proven track record of teaching our girls how to play and be recruited at the highest level. Of course, these types of rankings are imprecise and, if left unchecked, can do a disservice by distracting players from focusing on their correct short-term and long-term goals. Nevertheless, we appreciate the recognition in the TC/USA Poll in a vote by our peers (and competitors), fellow National coaches.
While it is true that recruiting success can be achieved with God-given talent alone, in our experience, success is more frequently achieved from two simultaneous efforts: 1) a lot of specifically directed and focused individual hard work by the player and her family; 2) knowledgeable and credible communication with college coaches by experienced travel ball coaches that is borne of a reciprocally trustworthy relationship.
In this extremely competitive environment for scarce college scholarships, a player : 1)whose team is not constantly visible at the top National tournaments, or 2) who is given obsolete skills training, or 3) who does not have the most targeted and timely information on those colleges that could be interested in her, will miss significant opportunities to achieve the goal of attending and playing softball for the school of her dreams.
Interested in knowing more about the Illinois Chill? From time-to-time, we do add a player or two, looking toward the future. Of course, at this level, all of the players have pretty strong skills or definite strong potential. If you have the desire to work hard and improve and be recruited in line with our philosophies, and most importantly, you have a positive, supportive attitude and want to have fun, call us for a private, confdential work-out. Even if you just want to have an objective opinion of where you are in terms of ability and recruit-ablity, call or email us. 312 515 3028 morrisp@jbltd.com
