Thursday, July 1711/12 Little League Section 1 (1st round results)
The first round of the 11/12 Little League sectional in section 1 started yesterday, July 16th.
In the first match-up, Salem LL (District 1) hung on for the win 8-5 over the all-stars from Rushville LL (District 17). The second game saw Red Bland LL (District 3) come up with the win over Unity LL (District 2).
The second round starts today, July 17th, with Rushville taking on Unity at 3:00pm and Red Bland taking on Salem at 5:30pm.

11/12 Baseball Section 1 Second Round
The second round of the section 1 tournament is now in the books. The bottom bracket featured Rushville (District 17) and Unity (District 2) at a 3pm game on 7/17 in Springfield. Rushville came out with the hot bats and beat Unity. This was an elimintaion game for both teams. It was a pleasure hosting Unity and their family and friends at the Dale Teubner Memorial Little League fields. The second game of the night saw a great battle between Red Bland (District 3) and Salem (District 1). Red Bland jumped out on top with 2 runs in the first and two more in the second for a 4-0 lead. However, in the fourth inning, Salem answered with a 3 run homer. By the top of the sixth inning, Salem was leading 6-5. Red Bland was able to push a run across the plate to tie the game going into the bottom of the sixth. With two outs and a runner on third, Salem came up with a big single to eek out the win 7-6.
The third round takes place on 7/18 at 5:30pm. We will see Rushville and Red Bland in an elimination game. The winner will face Salem LL on Saturday 7/19 at 1pm for the possible championship game and a berth at the state tournament!

11/12 Sectional (Elimination Bracket)
The elmination bracket of the 11/12 section 1 baseball tournament continued today with Rushville (D17) and Red Bland (D3) battling it out for a chance to continue playing.
It was a battle of pitching and solid defense. By the end, Rushville was able to put 6 runs across the plate to Red Bland's 3. The loss elminated Red Bland from the tournament and set up a rematch with Rushville and Salem (D1) in the championship game on Saturday 7/19 at 1pm.
In the first meeting between the two, Salem came out on top 8-5. This rematch has the makings of an excellent game between two teams with top notch defense, great pitching and some explosive bats. A Rushville win will force a deciding game 7 on Sunday 7/20 at 1pm. Good luck to both teams!
