UP-COMING CLINICS
SPRINGTIIME BRINGS THE NEED FOR UMPIRE TRAINING.
The District Umpire Association will be holding 2 up-coming clinics
On April 19th at noon there will be a clinic at Putnam County High School in Granville
On April 26th at noon a clinic will be held at Peru Washington Park.

INFORMATION FROM 1-25-2009 MEETING
Cost to join Association is $20.00. This money should be sent to:

The payment should be attached to the proper forms (Volunteer Application with photo ID and District 20 Umpire Association Application). These forms can be downloaded from the handout section of this website.
Next meeting will be on Sunday, February 22 starting at noon at Peru Washington School.
Do not forget to register for the umpire clinic in conjunction with the Road show on March 14th. A registration form can be downloaded from the handout section of this website.

PRE GAME CONFERENCE
Umpires/Coaches should hold a pre game conference at home plate before each game and should include:
Check home team line up card
Check visiting team line up card
Home team coach explains ground rules
Home plate umpire asks and confirms if all players are properly equipped
Reinforce expectations of good sportsmanship
Remind coaches to assist in keeping the game moving at a brisk pace
Membership
Here is a list of reasons why all umpires should join the District Umpire Assocation
1. Insurance
2. District shirt number patch
3. Communication among umpires
4. Education-class room and field
5. Being eligible for District, Sectional, State, Regional and World Series assignments
VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
All umpires must have filled out the Little League volunteer application and turned in to the umpire association before you can do any games in Little League. Your application, if you older than 16, must have a copy of a photo I.D. 2ith it. If you have any questions, please contact Brian Putman or Jim McVey

LITTLE LEAGUE BAT RINGS
BEGINNING WITH THE 2005 SEASON, ALL BATS MUST BE CHECKED WITH THE APPROVED LITTLE LEAGUE BAT RING AT ALL LEVELS OF BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL PRIOR TO THE START OF EACH GAME DURING THE REGULAR SEASON AND TOURNAMENTS. ANY BAT THAT CANNOT PASS THROUGH THE RING MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE GAME. IF YOU HAVE SIGNED UP WITH THE LITTLE LEAGUE UMPIRE REGISTRY, YOU WILL HAVE ONE SENT TO YOU AS PART OF THE SUPPLIES. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY PLEASE CONTACT JOHN MCCAULEY, PRESIDENT OF DISTRICT 20 UMPIRE ASSOCIATION ASAP SO THE RINGS CAN BE ORDERED IN QUANTITY THROUGH CENTRAL REGION HEADQUARTERS. THE COST OF EACH RING IS 50 CENTS. EACH UMPIRE SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 2 OR 3 TO LAST THE ENTIRE SEASON.

CAUGHT NAPPING
DON'T GET CAUGHT NAPPING ON KNOWING THE RULES--JOIN THE DISTRICT UMPIRES ASSOCATION. THEY ARE THERE TO ASSIST YOU.
LOCAL CLINICS
If there is enough interest by a local league or combination of leagues, the umpire association will conduct a clinic in your community for any interested umpire.. Contact the association officers to make arrangements. Training is good for all levels of umpires and will help make the upcoming season run smoother. There are 2 clinics scheduled for April 3 and June 5. These are for all district umpires.
