Welcome to ICGS Athletics  2011-12
Each spring the ICGS Athletic Board submits to Mrs. Linley and the ICGS School Board our budget for the following school year.  Our goal is to offer the best quality athletic programs for our student-athletes.  We are extremely grateful to all the individuals who contribute to ICGS Athletics throughout the school year.  It is because of the dedicated parent volunteers that we are able to offer such a strong and dynamic athletic program.             ICGS Athletics continues to move toward fiscal independence. This past year we implemented several initiatives to enhance both our program and our financial situation.  Gym concessions, Team Gear, sport camps,  and our Photo Program were positive additions, ones we look to expand in the coming year.  We will continue to look for ways to improve and expand our program.   
          We have once again assessed our participation fees to accurately reflect the costs per sport as well as keeping them consistent with other schools in our league.  We hope our efforts to maintain moderate athletic fees as well as become fiscally sound are supported by our student-athlete families.  It is our goal to provide a safe and positive environment for all our student-athletes. 
2011-12 Athletic Participation Fees:          
Football:                  $125.00
Boys Basketball:               $110.00
Girls Basketball:                 $90.00 
Girls Volleyball:                   $90.00 
Track:                             $85.00 
Cross-Country:                  $60.00

    In June, the Board will say goodbye to board president, Marya Gibbons and board member, Ken Sophie.  We thank Marya and Ken for their service and commitment to the ICGS Athletic Program.
 Prospective  2011-12  ICGS Coaches:         
 ICGS is always looking for new volleyball, basketball, cross-country, track and football coaches.  All ICGS coaches must have completed the diocesan Protecting God’s Children workshop.  Please check the IC Parish website for workshop sites and dates.

      Current 3th & 4th grade Girls VOLLEYBALL Camp: 
                                May 10-11-12     3:00 – 4:30pm  @ IC Gym·        
ICHS Volleyball Coach DeeDee Shin will introduce players to the fundamentals of volleyball and prepare our 4th graders for ICGS Volleyball.·        
                           Cost:  $40.00 (registration form attached) 
     Current 3rd & 4th grade Boys & Girls BASKETBALL Camp:   
                           May 10-11-12     6:00 – 7:30pm   @ IC Gym·        
 Coaches will introduce competitive drills for our young ICGS student-athletes·

2011-12 Sport Physicals      -   for current  4th, 6th, and 7th graders only* 
                                   Wednesday,  June 1  @ MPH.         (2:35 - 4:00pm) 
                                                   $30.00 Sports  Physical  fee                                                                                                           
Current 4th graders  --  2:35 – 3:00pm.
Current 6th graders  --  3:00 – 3:30pm.
Current 7th graders  --  3:30 – 4:00pm.                   
 Incoming 6th graders are required by state to have a full/complete physical on file.  
All ICGS athletic participants must have a physical (sport physical or complete physical) on file at school before they can begin practice in August.   
Certified physicians under the direction of Dr. Phil Cozzi will perform the sport physicals.    
Sort Physical forms and consent forms will be sent out from the ICGS Nurse’s office.    
 If your child has significant health concerns, he/she should undergo a complete physical exam by their own physician.

Girls Fall Team Sport Evaluations will be conducted in June.  Team will not be posted until August due to IHSA team rules.  Practices will begin the week of August 8, 2011.

Missing one or both sessions can not only adversely affect a student0athletes’s placement, but may ultimately affect all others who attend the scheduled evaluation.  Because no alternative tryout dates are scheduled, a student-athlete missing evaluations will be evaluated and placed on a team by the Athletic Director based on the objective criteria available.     (Athletic Handbook 2010-11)

 ICGS Athetics is administered by an Athletic Director and Athletic Board.
The Athletic Board is an advisory board to the Principal regarding policies and guidelines for ICGS athletic programs, finances, and administrations. It is open to all individuals from the IC community who are interested in and committed to maintaining quality athletic programs at ICGS. The Athletic Board meets regularly on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm.
