LUNGE EXERCISE

This exercise will help to build balance and explosive speed through stretching and conditioning the hamstring muscles.
Split the team in half.
Have the first group line up along the goal line.
On the whistle, the players are allowed 3 to 5 strides (coaches discretion) then they must start a series of lunges unitl they get to the other end of the ice.
They would then return to the starting position and switch legs.
Note: A lunge would be with the lead foot until the players thigh is perpendicular to the ice surface with the other leg stretched out behind them.
This is a good variation instead of just doing straight lengths of the ice, but still incorporates some cardio exercise.
