ICE HOCKEY PUCK CONTROL/PROTECTION

A good way to teach young kids how to protect the puck is to use a ringlette like the ones used in Canadian ring hockey games. This is a rubber donut ring that has about a 7 inch diameter. Have the kids turn their sticks upside down and place the butt end inside the ring's hole and drag the ring with one hand as they use the other had to hold off the defender. This makes it easier for the kids to get the feel as they are less likely to lose control of the ring.
