Lady Huskies Do Well at State

Well the Huskie girls did great at state, winning three of the five games played. Ending up in 5th place or tied for fifth. They started out with Port Angeles defeating them 15-4. Alyssa Martinez led the attack, hitting 4-4, including 2home runs one being a grand slam. The Ladies then went down to defeat losing 7-14 to hard hitting and eventual State Champs Sequim. In the following game the Huskies had to fight from behind 0-7 in order to stay alive in the tournament.  They methodically came back, beating North Mason, 13-9. Lindsay Garza had two homers in the game and Brenda Rodriguez was 3-4, along with Kim Bullis who was also the winning pitcher. The next game saw the huskies defeating Great Northern Champ West Valley in a close game 5-4, Alyssa Martinez went 4-4 and knocked in Marissa Martinez in the 6th inning for the go ahead and eventual winning run. The Lady Huskies then faced CWAC foe Selah and were beaten 7-1.  The Huskies had several chances to score early but couldn't push the runs across.

All in all it was a good tournament run, the huskies hit the ball well and played very good defence. Several of the Huskie players will be playing for summer teams which will be a big help to our program the coming years. Nice job Ladies job well done, nothing to hang your heads about. Looking forward to next year!
