Huntington Sports League: Coaches Corner

Tuesday, June 30

Welcome to the home of the Huntington Sports League. The league has been serving the youth of Huntington for parts of seven decades! This non-profit organization was founded and currently administrated by dedicated community volunteers. The entire focus of the league is directed toward the enhancement of young men and women through participation in fun, safe, and instructional team sports. The league has provided numerous children with countless hours of sports enjoyment and participation in team sports such as football, basketball, baseball, softball & cheerleading.

Volunteers and Coaches

We are a 100% volunteer program. Please leave your name with Joe at coachforall@verizon.net to volunteer your time and talents to the league.

Coaching is an extremely important responsibility. A good coach always places the best interests of a player before winning.
The players and their parents have placed you in a position of leadership, and you have a responsibility to give them your best effort. Additionally, this experience will play a significant factor in determining whether the players continue participating in organized sports in the future.

Coaching youth sports is a difficult job because parents expect professional results from people who are volunteers. Unlike high school, college, and pro coaches who start as assistants and work their way up through years of intense professional training, volunteer coaches are often first time coaches as their child reaches the age to participate in team sports. We ask all parents to remember this!
