HTAA UNIFORM DISASTER...........
In talking with a few folks it seems not everyone has been notified of what happened with the uniform disaster this season. A letter was posted at the concession stand and letters given to the coaches but it seems a few folks might have been missed. Here is a summary of the information provided in the letter: HTAA took bids for uniforms as we do every year. One of the bids was recommended to us from a Hamilton Township native and they were able to offer us the best rate. Sadly the new vendor was too new and totally dropped the ball. We even allowed an extra week into the season as they asked but they still were unable to deliver. That being said on 6/13/08 I was charged with the task of having to pull uniforms together within a week. I utilized local vendors and web vendors to try and pull it together. In general it takes up to 3 weeks to pull uniforms together with appropriate planning. Needless to say without the normal prep work we were left with a disaster. I still have stuff out on backorder. Originally we had all of it organized and to the first vendor 3 weeks prior to the start of the season. With the help of the Sherrif's department we were finally able to get our money back on 7/10/08. All I can say is I am sorry......I am doing the best I can to finish out this season. Since it took longer than expected to get the money back from the first vendor we could not get corrected shirts printed for our sponsors. All sponsors will be getting their money back with an apology. I have been working with this organization for over 7 years, 5 on the board. I am down at the park almost every night trying to keep it all together. It is a Thankless job when it does run smooth like it did last season but when it goes wrong it is a nightmare. It was never my intention to have the season go this way. Overall HTAA needs volunteers. HTAA is a non-profit organization run soley by volunteers, nobody gets paid to do any of it. We are not a part of Hamilton Township nor do we answer to them other than to follow the community rules. When 1 or 2 are expected to carry the weight of 9 it becomes impossible at some point. It's easy for folks to say they want to help but the help that is needed now is to fill the HTAA Board with folks willing to be in charge. If we don't have enough folks step up soon there won't be an organization.
Sincerely,
Kim
