Coach Jake was raised in Dittmer where he attended and graduated from Northwest High School in 2004. He played his Freshman and Sopmore summers  for the Jefferson County Blazers(2001-2002). Unhappy with the program he left and played his Junior summer with Hillsboro Barnstormers and on an independent team called the Jefferson County Ginats(2003). Before his Senior summer Coach Lang asked him to come to the House Springs Legion Program where he would see better competition and more exposure. There he competed for number one starter on the mound while plitting time behind te plate and played the outfield.(2004) Shortly after his last game he was involved in an accident which would end his playing career. He spent one year helping student manage the Jefferson College Vikings(2007) under Coach Sam Carel. That year the team won the regular season and post season Region XVI titles. They played in the Central District tournament and came within four outs of getting a World Series berth. He is currently attending Southest Missouri State Univ. where he is majoring in K-12 Physical Education and Health.

Coach Jake began his coaching career in the summer of 2005, coaching the first House Springs Freshman team as an assistant coach going 5-19. In the second year of coaching the team went 17-14 falling one game shor of winning the district title. In the summer of 2007 the freshma saw a lot of success compiling an overall record of 26-11. En Route to this record the team won the Ozark Tournament in Ozark Missouri, won the District 13 title(1st for House Springs) and finished by winning the Missouri State Tournament(1st for House Springs) in Washington Missouri. Taking over as the named head coach in 2008 the team struggled at times while staying .500 all year. They finally hit thier stride going intot he district tournament. In the tournament the team knocked three opponents out of the tournament, but fell short in the Championship to Ste. Gen. The team finished the season with an overall record of 19-17.
