GOAL SAFETY!

Keep Our Kids Safe

Each Year Chilren are injured, there have even been fatalities because of unsecured goals.

Coaches and referees, please be sure to check that the goals are anchored prior to EACH game. See article link shown here on goal safety.

Here's an important video from CBS News on the hazards of soccer goals.

Thank You,

Terri L Dempski

Injury Reporting
Bandages

If a child is injured, please report it to the coach and he'll report it to Hiawatha President. If the child requires a visit to a doctor's and an injury is diagnosed, follow up with the details. Please read on about the details of the NYSWYSA insurance.  (you may not know the extent of the injury at the time, but please notify the appropriate personnel at the time of the injury)
In addition if it occurred during :

a tournament, the coach should notify the tournament director.
an indoor league game, the coach should notify the facility
a BCSA league game, the coach should make note of it
the "other comments" section of the ref report for U12 and above , for U10 and below : report to the president of Hiawatha.
at a practice, notify Hiawatha and/or facility depending on the cause of the injury.

Remember: ALL COACHES MUST HAVE THEIR MEDICAL Release forms with them at ALL TIMES when with the players so a player may be treated at the time of injury by EMTs even if their parents are not present.

Note: Hiawatha is under the Insurance charter of NYSWYSA and injuries/insurance is first covered by the families insurance. If there is a situation that requires the additional insurance through NYSWYSA, we need a record of the injury. The claim will need to be submitted within 30 days of the injury.

FYI on the insurance … see the NYSWYSA website link. http://www.nyswysa.org/InsuranceInfo/index_E.html. Here's a short summary of the Pullen insurance with NYSWYSA. <>

GBSC Liability Release Form
The GBSC is requesting that for everyone playing at the GBSC for them to sign a liability release form before they play at the facility.  You'll need the attached form signed by your parents and attach your team roster (if you haven't already since you played this past weekend.)

Remember: It's important for you as a coach to be up to date on your CPR and 1st Aid training as well as be certified at minimum an E license.   I'm working on getting all of these courses (CPR/AED, 1st Aid, E and D licenses) lined up directly for Hiawatha coaches to take. Hiawatha will reimburse you for these courses once you show record of your completion.

Thank You,

Terri L Dempski
