Friday, April 28 Update On Team / League Future Everyone, Mike will have information available for everyone by this evening regarding the future of the team. As of this time, we may have a home in the summer 8AA or 9A Warriors league which plays on Saturdays. We will also be building a relationship for future years by playing in the JCBL on Saturdays. This will still give the kids the same two games per week, but will lower the competition level we will play against, giving more of the kids the opportunity to play more positions and improve. There may be a few Saturday scheduling conflicts to solve, but we think we can work with that. Until there is a definitive answer on when and where we would start playing these games, plan on showing up for the scheduled 9AAA games in front of us. There will most likely be an afternoon JCBL game tommorow, so stay tuned for that info. At the moment, we have 9 of the kids committed to attend, so we need you all there. Thanks. Wednesday, April 5 Why are we in 9AAA? As you have all heard by now, we are playing in the 9AAA division this year, instead of the 8AAA that we had signed up for. How did this happen you might ask? After speaking with Renee Mares at the Warriors tonight, this is what happened. Last year, the AYL asked its member clubs if they would field one or more teams if 8AAA kid pitch was offered. Most or all of the clubs said yes. When the signups were complete this year, the Warriors signed up three and the other clubs signed up none. The AYL elected to put these teams in 9AAA rather than asking if they would drop back into 8AA. It also appears that a number of the 9 AAA clubs have 8 year olds playing up a year (combo-age teams). An additional factor is that since there was no 8AAA last year, the 9 year old teams are playing kid pitch for the first time this year as well. The bottom line is, we will play two straight years in this division, and will be better off for it next year. The other two clubs that are strickly 8 year olds on the schedule are the Colorado Bulldogs and the Denver Bulldogs. Wednesday, April 5 Hat and Sweatshirt Orders The hat and sweatshirt order has been placed and they will be available soon. You can pay Eric your $40 whenever it is convenient for you. Thursday, March 16 Team Name - Highlands Ranch Raptors Everyone, Thursday, March 16 Team Sweatsirt Orders Everyone, Steph Auth took Carter to Proformance to try on sweatshirts and found he was an adult medium. Since the sizes are youth s, m, l, xl, and adult s, m, l, xl - maybe we could find a volunteer to ask Proformance if they have a couple of loaner sweatshirts from that size and down to try on the kids at practice before making the order. Any volunteers? Saturday, March 11 To practice or not to practice...here's how we'll decide How do you know if practice is going to be held or not? Here is the criteria we'll use for now. If we find we have a problem with it, we can always change. 1). Consult the web site for the current practice information. It can be found on the practice link. Practices for the next week are also shown on the Welcome / Home page. 2). If it is obvious from the prior evenings weather report or conditions that we will not be able to play the next day, I will cancel practice and show it as so on the Welcome / Home page. An example would be if it has rained for three days and it is obvious the fields will be too wet and/or closed. 3). If you do not see a practice cancelled and it is 30 minutes until we play, you can assume it is on. Spring conditions can sometimes change by the minute, so if it looks questionable assume practice is ON. It is very hard to reschedule practices. If the conditions are too poor at the field, we can always decide to pack it in then. 4). If it is obvious that extreme cold (under 35 degrees), heavy rain, or snow will not end prior to practice beginning, you can assume it is called off. If in doubt, you can call my (Eric's) cell phone at 303-803-2338 or my home phone at 303-346-8686 and ask Lynda. Mike's cell phone is 720-984-5381. Please make sure that your kids come prepared for changing conditions this time of year. That means a wind/waterproof outer layer, sweatshirt, and tee-shirt. It's easier to take stuff off than not have enough. Also, if conditions look like they might change quickly - please do not stray too far from the field should we need to cancel practice early. Thanks. Saturday, March 11 Hat and Sweatshirt Orders Parents, Friday, February 24 Season Kickoff Information Practice times for our first three practices have now been posted in the Practices section. The Warriors have not yet received all of their field permits for the season, so the rest of the schedule will be available soon. For field locations, go to the Links sections and access the AYL website. They are shown there. Game schedules have not been completed and will be available later in March. Uniforms will be the same as last year, since most of the kids will still fit in them. We do have some options to supplement what they have this year, which could be fun. We can discuss those at the first practice, but here's one. We could get new hats this year with just the "W" for Warriors embroidered on the front. We can also get the kids names and numbers embroidered on the side and back for another $5 - $6. They have a nice look. |
