Howard Hurricanes Soccer Club Team Rules and Policies 2003
HOWARD HURRICANES
SOCCER CLUB
TEAM RULES AND POLICIES
2003
¨ INTRODUCTION Below are some general rules that we as a club would like you and your player to review. Once you have read these rules, please sign at the bottom of this document where indicated and return to the team Coach or Manager. This document MUST be signed and returned before your child will be allowed to play.
The intention of these rules are to create a FUN and ENJOYABLE environment for all the players, parents and coaching staff throughout the 2003 season.
¨ GENERAL INFORMATION Each coach is responsible for setting up practice time and rules for practice. In the event a problem arises between the coach/manager/player/parent that cannot be resolved amicably, the issue should be brought to the attention of the club board.
Board members names and phone numbers can be found on our web page at www.eteamz.com/howardhurricanes.
¨ LEAGUE PLAY The 2003 season officially begins with indoor practices starting in February or March. This is the coach's decision. League play begins the first week of May and ends the last week of July. There is an exception with the Girls U16 and above teams. They begin play the first week of June due to WIAA regulations. There are approximately 12 league games. Usually ½ are at our home field, Spring Green Park in the Village of Howard, and ½ are away games. The away games may have you travel as far as Brownsville.
¨ HOME FIELD Our home field is Spring Green Park in the Village of Howard.

¨ TOURNAMENTS In addition to league play, teams may play in five weekend tournaments. Coaches and managers of each team generally have a team meeting to determine which tournaments they wish to attend. One or two tournaments could be out-of-town and requiring lodging. These decisions are made early in the season so that schedules and arrangements can be made that will allow your player to participate without conflicts.
¨ TIME COMMITMENT The Howard Hurricane Soccer Club looks for players who are dedicated to playing soccer. This includes coming to practice and games, and having dedicated, supportive parents.
¨ BOARD MEETINGS The Board meets once a month, usually the 4th Sunday of the month, at 7PM, Howard Village Hall. These meetings are open to parents of every player in the club. We are always in need of volunteers as it takes many hours to organize and manage a team. If you are interested, please contact a board member or your team manager.
¨ PLAYER FEES A $100 non-refundable commitment/player fee is due upon acceptance to a team. This amount will be applied to your club registration, with the balance due January 1, 2003. The cost for the 2003 season has been set at $200 plus uniform and bag. A medical injury is the ONLY exception to this policy. Requests for refunds due to medical reasons must be submitted to the board in writing for approval.
Players with an outstanding balance inclusive of player's fee and uniform expense, will not be issued a player pass. Without a player pass you cannot participate in a game.
¨ LATE FEE A late fee of 10% will be imposed on any fees/payments that are 30 days overdue.

¨ PLAYER GAME RULES Player positions will be the Coach's decision based upon the needs of the team.
Absolutely no profanity will be allowed before, during or after a game or practice. Profanity on the playing field can result in a yellow or red card and this could put your team at a disadvantage.
Equal playing time is not guaranteed. Playing time will be the decision of the Coach.
Soccer is a team sport - individualism is unacceptable. Failure to put forth your best effort every time you are on the playing field may affect your playing time. If this problem continues, this may result in sitting out a game. No teasing or degrading of your teammates will be tolerated. Be a TEAM PLAYER, get along and cooperate with your teammates. Cheering on your teammates is encouraged and welcomed.
¨ PARENTS RULES Parents please DO NOT YELL NEGATIVE COMMENTS from the sidelines during games directed at your son/daughter, another teammate, an opposing player, an opposing coach or a referee. When you show a POSITIVE ATTITUDE toward the game and all its participants, your son/daughter will benefit. Positive comments are always welcomed. Please try your best to set a good example and make the game enjoyable for everyone.
Parents, you are responsible for getting your son/daughter to the games and practices on time. If you cannot get your child to a game or practice for some reason, please call the coach or manager.
Parents, if you have a problem or concern
1. Please do not approach the coach, assistant coach or manager just prior to the game.
2. Please wait at least 24 hours following the game before confronting the coach, assistant coach or manager.
Verbal attacking will not be tolerated. It is inappropriate to vent your frustrations in front of the players, other parents and children.
-3-
¨ PLAYER AND PARENT RULE I as a player will come to every practice, game and team function with a positive attitude with my promise to give my best effort all of the time.
I as a parent will come to games and team functions with a positive attitude to cheer on my son/daughter as well as their teammates no matter what the outcome. Also, I will support the coaching staff's decision.
¨ SUMMARY The Howard Hurricanes Soccer Club Board, Coaches and Managers are looking forward to a very fun and exciting soccer season. We welcome any positive comments or suggestions that you may have. Thanks in advance for your support.
