Houston Indians
Tom Blizzard
713-827-7494
Houston, Texas

  Welcome

Friday, May 13

The Houston Indians were a very successful Select baseball team playing out of the highly competitive Baseball USA in Houston, Texas. Our team was founded in the fall of 1999 and wrapped up operations in the summer of 2005. Our team has accomplished its goal of providing a sound baseball foundation for these boys to move on to a higher level, while also recognizing that we have an obligation to teach them how to be good young men, not just good baseball players. Some of our accomplishments and where the boys are now:

  • 9U Baseball USA Champions

  • 9U USSSA South Zone Runner-up

  • 9U USSSA Major World Series 3rd Place

  • 10U Texas Invitaional Champions

  • 10U Super Series World Series 5th Place

  • 10U USSSA Major World Series 5th Place

  • 11U Super Series World Series 3rd Place

  • 11U USSSA Major World Series 3rd Place

  • 12U Baseball USA Champions

  • 12U USSSA Texas State Champions

  • 12U Super Series World Series 7th Place

  • 13U IBC World Series 5th Place

Although our personnel has changed over the years the Indians have always been a TEAM to be reckoned with.

Sting Avenges Earlier Loss, Indians Fall to Katy Sting in IBC Qualifier Finals

The last time these two teams met in the finals of a tournament in was a pitchers duel, 7 inning, 2-1 victory for the Indians. This time the Sting turned the tables on the Indians and posted a victory against the Indians in the finals of the IBC Last Chance Qualifier at Baseball USA. It was a day of survival as Houston posted its' hottest day of the year, with temperatures in the upper 90's all day long. The Indians started the day with a come from behind victory over the Bayou City Sluggers 10-9 in which neither team had any incentive to use up any pitching since we were both going to the semifinals. In our semifinal game we came from behind to defeat the Texas Wildcats 3-2 before losing to the Sting 7-1. The boys fought a tough fight all day and we were proud of them.

Sluggers Foil Indians Comeback Tribe Finishes 2nd in Brenham Wood Bat Tournament

After losing a pair of pool games on Saturday the Indians were wondering where their bats had gone, but fortunately they woke up on Sunday and Sunday is when they play the money games. The boys knew to flush the previous day and they came out smoking in the 1st inning of the 1st game, scoring 4 runs in the top of the inning and ultimately prevailed over the Kingwood Mustangs 6-1 behind the dominate pitching of Michael Webber. It only got better as we scored 10 runs in the first 3 innings of the 2nd game against the Cyclones with Jacob Gonzalez throwing a commanding shutout. The hit brigade continued against the Bayou City Sluggers and we went up 6-3, but we couldn't hold on as the Sluggers came back to tie the game and ultimately won 8-6. Jacob Gonzalez and Patrick Blizzard pitched a fine game, but the ball bounced one too many bounces the Sluggers way. It was a great weekend of baseball with good weather and great camaraderie. Way to go Indians.

Indians Beat Sting to Bring Home 1st Place in Opening Pitch

image_name2
The Indians used a total TEAM effort to go undefeated this weekend beating the Katy Sting twice including a 2-1, 7 inning victory in the championship game. The Indians played stellar defense and gave up a total of 5 runs in 4 games. That comes to a total of 7 runs in 6 games this year. Especially noted was Nelson Laswell's play in left field, Jacob Gonzalez's gutsy performance on the mound in the championship game and Patrick Blizzard's game winning walkoff single in the championship game. These mentions take nothing away from the rest of the TEAM, including Drew Harrell who always seems to get on base, Ben Coram who pitched great under pressure and also delivered at the plate, Caleb Hartwell who had some timely hits and John Buckley who delivered at the plate as well as in the outfield with some spectacular catches and some yeomans's duty behind the plate. Chase McDowell started the scoring for us today against the Sting and played a great CF making a diving catch in the Wildcat game. Crazy Cody Williams delivered the hit that started it all in the 7th besides being a steady 1st baseman and giving us 4 1/3 against the Sting in the first game and holding them to 2 runs. We can't say enough about Pudge Rogers behind the plate and on the mound the kid is a gamer and he is the spirit of this TEAM. That is what it is all about, parents and boys this is a TEAM and we are proud of you.

Indians Finish Another Succesful Fall Season

The Indians finished up their fall season with a 10-3 record and finsished 1st, 2nd and 4th in the tournaments played at Baseball USA. With our roster set we are really looking forward to the Spring season. This year we will again be competing in the Baseball USA league and various tournaments in Texas and surrounding states. In June we will be heading to the Midwest Clash of the Titans being held in Kansas City and hosted by the Mac'n Seitz Indians. This invitation only tournament will include 32 of the top teams from around the country. It will be by far the most competitive tournament of the year. Our boys are up to the challenge and look forward to great competition.

Indians Win USSSA State

image_name2
The Indians claimed their first State Championship on Sunday winning the USSSA State Championship in the finals over the San Antonio Gators 2-0. The Indians played superb defense and displayed excellent pitching, giving up only 9 runs in 5 games against some excellent competition. The Indians also showed tenacity offensively by taking full advantage of any of their opponents mistakes and turning them into runs. Special thanks to Kyle Jordan and Vincent Harris for filling in. Kyle pitched a great game against the Dawgs, avenging a loss a week earlier. Way to go Indians. On to Kansas City.
