Competitive League Soccer Tryouts

HTSA, under the Blackhawk Futbol Club banner, are holding tryouts to form their Competitive League Soccer Teams to compete during the 2013/2014 season.  Any player from 9 to 17 years old who enjoys the sport and wishes to train & compete at a competitive level should strongly consider attending the HTSA/Blackhawk Tryouts.  Players who do not wish to compete in the Louisiana Competitive League can be placed on a HTSA Recreational Team if the numbers permit.

The focus of HTSA’s Blackhawk Futbol Club is to develop every soccer player while providing a positive, highly competitive, and enjoyable team-building environment.  We recommend and invite all Parents and Players who are unfamiliar with the Blackhawk Futbol Club to attend an informational, Q&A type meeting on Monday, April 22nd, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the Terrebonne Parish Library – North Branch in Gray.

Listed below are the tryout dates and times for all age groups.  Players interested should attend both tryout sessions to broaden the evaluation opportunity by our coaches.  A makeup date is also provided should there be a conflict.  All tryouts will be held at The Lakes Soccer Complex and there will be a $5 tryout fee.  All players will be required to tryout for their appropriate age group.  All new players to competitive league must bring a copy of their birth certificate to tryout!!  Players may attend a next older age group tryout, but final Board determination will be based on several factors including 1) the child's ability based on Blackhawk coaching staff evaluation, 2) Impact on both age groups/teams in question, long and short term and 3) Parent and player request/reasoning for moving up an age group.

If you have a conflict with the tryout dates and wish to make alternate arrangements, or cannot attend the meeting and have questions; please contact Kevin Champagne, Coaching Coordinator, at ckchampagne@yahoo.com (985) 381-1628 or Cecil Zeringue, HTSA President, at czeringue2@bellsouth.net (985) 232-8605.

Sportsmanship comes first!

From time-to-time, we'll get positive feed back from another team or club about the way Houma Soccer, HTSA or Blackhawk Futbol Club, carries itself at the soccer field.  Many times negative actions of a coach or parent will over shadow the truely positive intent and makeup of youth athletics and our club, so we greatly appreciate when another takes the time to acknowledge the goodness or kind act of a fellow member

HTSA would like to recognize and give props to Coach Ricky Alston and the U13 Black Ladyhawk team for displaying the kind of character and attitude that we strive to carry forth as an association!

"In light of the negative posts about field conditions, player sportsmanship, punches being thrown or not, etc, I wanted to pass along some comments by my young daughter.

She said her favorite team to play is Houma because of their sportsmanship. She said they are nice to us no matter who wins. They play hard but never dirty.

She said the coach looks you I the eyes when we were shaking hands. She also said that when he and the team said good game, they meant it.

She said the parents were never rude and seemed concerned even when one of our players was hurt.

I concur with all her observations. I know this year when we played there, the coach greeted us and told him to let him know if we needed anything. He seemed like a genuine guy.

I just wanted to pass this along on hoping someone affiliated with the club would see this and pass it on. This is not to knock any of our other opponents but Houma has just stood out."
