2012 Williamsport Team
On behalf of the 2012 Williamsport team, I'd like to thank Hopkinton Little League and all our Hopkinton friends and families who came and supported this outstanding team. This was an incredible journey filled with many proud moments, which wouldn't have been possible without the outpouring of support from the entire community. I am so proud of how these young boys handled both winning and defeat with grace and character not always seen on the field. Aside from the glory of the wins was the journey these 13 teammates will remember for a lifetime.
Thank you for your contribution to this team.

Hopkinton Wins District 11 Championship!
by Mike Scire, President HLL
Thursday, July 12, 2012
In an amazing come from behind win on Thursday night being
down by 4 in the top of the 6th, Hopkinton beat favored Westwood in a shootout
that went into extra innings with the winner advancing to the District 11
Championship on Friday. After giving up
a grand slam in a game that was tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth,
Hopkinton overcame the impossible. With
one out, they put up 4 runs in the top of the 6th and then one in the top of
the 7th to win their Pool Championship. Hopkinton
was heading to the District Championship for the first time since 2007. No team in Hopkinton Little League history has
ever won the District Title.
Friday, July 13, 2012
Some may argue that playing a championship game on Friday,
July 13th is nothing short of bad luck. Some may also argue that one of your
starting pitchers being hit by a fast ball the night before and breaking his
shoulder bone added to that superstition. Hopkinton was heading straight into the
District 11 championship game facing Canton, another top seed team. Different night, different team, same story. With Canton up 5-1 going into the top of the
6th with one out (sound familiar?), the odds were stacked against Hopkinton. The chances to come from behind being down by
4 with one out in the top of the 6th two nights in a row were next to
impossible. Vegas wouldn't touch those
odds. Slowly, Hopkinton chipped away. 5-2. 5-3. 5-4. 5-5.
6-5. 7-5. YES.
They beat the odds and put up 6 runs in
the top of the sixth. With one out in
the bottom of the 6th, Canton smashed a long home run to deep right center
bridging the gap to 1, but Hopkinton never let up. They played flawless defense the rest of the
game to get two more outs and became for the first time ever
"MASSACHUSETTS DISTRICT 11 CHAMPIONS".
