Winter Indoor Skills Clinic Series at ForeKicks in Marlboro

In the past, newcomers at the U15 and U13 levels fear their skills are not up to par and find it frustrating during the first part of the season. To help alleviate this fear, HYL has instituted a brand new winter skills clinic series that starts on January 5, and runs every Monday night for eight weeks from 6:00 to 7:00 at the ForeKicks Athletic Center in Marlboro. The skills clinic runs right up to the start of the indoor preseason. New players are strongly encouraged to sign up for this clinic series so that they can feel more comfortable playing with experienced players once the season starts in March. Cost for the 8-week program is $80. Use the button below to pay with your credit card ($83 total, to cover processing fee) or send a check for $80 to:

Hopkinton Youth Lacrosse
P. O. Box 83
Hopkinton, MA 01748

Note: If there is room available, we may open the program to returning U15 and U13 players, as well as U11.

Pictures from Hopkinton Night at The Boston Cannons

This year's Hopkinton Night at the Boston Cannons was a great success! Over 200 Hopkinton Lacrosse players and supporters enjoyed a great afternoon and evening at Harvard Stadium that included pre-game tailgating, a raffle, a meet-and-greet with Cannons star attackman, Mike Powell, and a halftime mini-game featuring Hopkinton's U11 White team. Dave Kutz was named Dick's Sporting Goods and Cannons Honorary Coach and was recognized by Hopkinton Lacrosse for ten years of coaching!  Click on the above headline to see more pictures!

Clinic Recap & Thanks

Hi Hopkinton Lacrosse-

What a great start to our 2008 season. With well over 90 boys attending the clinic last Sunday- lacrosse balls were flying and sticks were cradling.

Jack Reid, an All-American defenseman from UMass who now plays for the Rochester Rattlers ran a station on defense as the other three stations involved offensive skills. The radar gun was fantastic and prizes were awarded for the fastest shots in each group. A big thanks goes to Cascade Lacrosse for bringing Jack Reid as well as posters and two helmets for the raffle. The Boston Cannons and Lacrosse Unlimited were also on hand to give info. The Hopkinton High School Head Coach, Justin O'Leary and some of the varsity players were such good hosts to us at the gym. Coach O'Leary brings new energy to the program and we are excited to support the high school lacrosse teams. (Look for the schedule on the high school website.)

The parents gathering began with EMLOA West Central Coordinator Rick Catalano giving valuable (if a little confusing) information. Gary Ludorf of Hopkinton Lacrosse spoke of the program and announced some key volunteering opportunities - especially a treasurer! Come on - someone out there is good with numbers.

If you have any lacrosse questions please drop me an e-mail at askthelaxmom@gmail.com for answers. No question is too small!!!

The last thanks goes out to all of the parents who volunteered and showed up!!! As this was our first ever clinic - we had no idea what we needed and how to utitlize all of you. Just being there was a great help!!!
