The process for selecting our teams remains unchanged from last season. Senior Ruth tryouts take place in May. Historically, the team is comprised of a fixed roster of 15 Hopkinton residents. A committee made of the Senior Ruth Coach; a member of the Babe Ruth Executive Board and a high-caliber technical representative will oversee the tryouts and determine the top 20 players. The Coach will establish the roster from the top 20 shortly after the tryouts.
The Senior Ruth season typically starts around June 9th and can continue until the first week of August. The 2012 schedule consists of 19 games before playoffs. The top four teams make the playoffs. It is a good competitive baseball league consisting of teams from around our area.

Our Mission:
To provide teenagers of all ability levels the opportunity to play organized baseball. Everyone is welcome to play in a fun, competitive and educational environment.
The Pre Season:
The goal of the Pre Season is for everyone especially those who are not playing on an AAU, school or traveling team the opportunity to practice and play games in an informal setting. The Pre Season lasts about a month. This is an ideal opportunity for seventh graders, and thirteen year olds that have never played on the "Big Diamond" before, to become oriented to the bigger field. We offer clinics and individual instruction where our coaches, some of whom have played High School, American Legion, Collegiate and Stan Musial baseball, to introduce young players to the new rules and skills that are required on the bigger field. There are no standings, playoffs, or championship teams in the Pre Season. The key areas of instruction include: Leading, pitching from the stretch and base running in a fun, relaxed atmosphere where coaches and players alike "get the rust out"...everyone is welcome.
The Regular Season
It usually begins about the time when school baseball is winding down and ends just before the student's Summer Vacation. This season also is about one month in length. The league took on a new look last season as several local businesses stepped up to the plate and sponsored teams. In our championship game, The Hopkinton Independent, edged underdog Cronin's Irish Club, winning the Coveted Mahon Cup. This league was a great success last season. With sixty five per cent of the players being thirteen and fourteen years old, it is a perfect place for middle school students of all abilities and high school aged players, too. Virtually all of Hopkinton's best thirteen and fourteen year olds participated last year, in what was a most enjoyable season for all. Once again, everyone is welcome!
Summer Tournament Teams
When school ends, and Summer Vacation begins, those players who want to continuing to play baseball can try out for one of our Summer Tournament Teams. Last Year, our talented fourteen year old squad, Coached by Craig Park, enjoyed great success in the Boro's Tourney...if you want to play summer baseball, we may have a team for you!
Senior Babe Ruth
If you are aged fifteen to seventeen years old, and would like to play Varsity High School, American Legion or College baseball some day, this is the team for you. This team plays a competitive schedule, requires players to try out, make a "summer commitment" and involves some travel. This program is ideal for high school players that want to face good competition in a very organized, competitive environment.
