Hopatcong Hawks Soccer Club: Welcome

Fields Open

Players, Parents and Coaches,

As we enter the 2015-2016 Soccer Season the Hawks Staff have been working very hard this past off season to bring some very exciting changes to the program. After many years of discussion and debate about the European Model the US Soccer Federation has begun pushing the "small sided, more touches on the ball approach" and with the Hopatcong Hawks rise in popularity and attendance it is allowing our program to follow in their foot steps. The Club will be realigning our divisions to promote this style of coaching and play in the following manner:

Smaller Rosters per team.
Pre-K Division
Kindergarten and 1st Grade Boys Division
Kindergarten and 1st Grade Girls Division
2nd and 3rd Grade Boys Division
2nd and 3rd Grade Girls Division
4th and 5th Grade Boys Division
4th and 5th Grade Girls Division
Coed Middle School Division

All divisions except the Middle School Division will play small sided Futsal Style games, (i.e 5v5 w/goalie, 6v6 w/goalie, etc). This will allow for each player to foster creativity, gain additional playing time, more touches on the ball and learn the skills side of the game more intimately than the format the club has used in the past. As in previous seasons, we will be enlisting the services of Magpies Professional Soccer Training to assist with our excellent in house Coaching Staff and are looking forward to these changes further advancing the Hopatcong Hawks Soccer Club.

Please join me in embracing these changes along with the rest of the Hopatcong Hawks Volunteer Staff and providing positive encouragement to the players taking the field this coming season.

As a reminder, practices will begin the week of September 8th. Given the realignment of the club, there has been a little delay in finalizing the roster so you should hear from a coach this upcoming week. The club is also still looking for some additional coaches, if you can volunteer your time, please let us know as soon as possible.

On Behalf of the Board and Staff,
Yours in Soccer
Coach Corde President,
