Hoosier Hoops 2017 Red Finishes Runner-up at AYBT Nationals
By Nathaniel Wills
Hoosier Hoops 2017 Red participated in the AYBt Nationals at Spiece Fieldhouse in Fort Wayne, Indiana July 18th - 21st. The boys started the week off with a tough loss to a tough Michigan Mavericks team, but after the loss the team rallied together and won their final 5 games before the single elimination bracket play began. The team found success through strong play around the basket and tenacious defense. With the strong team play and a solid full court press, Hoosier Hoops 2017 Red forced many turnovers and took advantage scoring easy fastbreak points. A solid semi-final effort against Hoosier Hoops 2018 Red led to a birth in the National Championship Game versus a Legit team that had crushed teams all week en route to an undefeated record heading into the finals. Hoosier Hoops 2017 Red hung tough during the first half trailing by just 2 points at the break, but a strong push by Legit stretched the lead to as much as 20 in the second half. Even after this run, the boys fought hard and were able to get back within 7 before finally dropping the championship by 12 point, the closest any team came to AYBT Champion Legit by more than 15 points. Congratulations Hoosier Hoops 2017 Red on your National Runner-up Finish!

Hoosier Hoops 2018 Red Wins Fieldhouse Player's Club Invitational
By Ron Wagner/Jeff Stone
Fishers, IN -- Hoosier Hoops 2018 Red competed in the “2009 Fieldhouse Player’s Club Invitational” recently at the Fieldhouse in Fishers. The team went 3-1 on their way to winning the 3rd grade division championship. Their only loss came at the hands of Hoosier Hoops 2017 Red, one of the club’s 4th grade teams, in a closely contested game, 38-34. The bigs did a great job hitting the boards were led by Alec Burton. This was definitely a team effort and all 8 players should be recognized. However, the team leader was Tyler Watson, who scored 17 points in the semi final game! This team is playing with great intensity. They always show up ready to compete even when their opponent is bigger or faster, and they never give up and keep searching out opportunities to win. This is a great defensive team with several leaders willing to step up and do what is necessary to win!

Spiece Hoosier Hoops Elite 2015 in Memorial Day Run N Slam
By Jeff Stone
Ft. Wayne, IN -- The 6th grade Spiece Hoosier Hoops team competed in the Memorial Day Run N Slam over Memorial Day weekend. The team went 1-1 in pool play to make it into the Gold Bracket of the tournament. In game one of pool play, 2015 used scrappy defense and an up-tempo style to beat the Ohio Magic 35-25 in a game that went as fast as it was played. There were very few whistles in the game and play was extremely sloppy by both teams, but 2015 was able to get the win. Trevor Waite of Tri West had 13 points and 5 steals and Jake Hendershot, also of Tri West, led the team with 8 rebounds. Anthony Jones of Speedway provided excellent defense and rebounding. In game two, 2015 lost a heartbreaker to the Minneapolis Hustlers, 45-44. The game was close throughout as the lead changed hands frequently during the game. 2015 was plagued by turnovers and shooting problems during a game that went down to the wire. With 5.8 seconds remaining, 2015 had a chance to win it, but couldn’t get a shot off at the buzzer. Jake Marsh of Plainfield led with 15 points, while Anthony Jones was the top rebounder with 7.
In game one of the tournament on Sunday, 2015 faced the Indiana Thunder, a team they lost to in thier previous tournament by one point. Guerin Wagner of Zionsville, Jake Hendershot, Jake Marsh and Anthony Jones provided tough defense in the paint that frustrated the Thunder’s big man and leading scorer throughout the game. Although the team played well overall, they were again plagued by untimely turnovers and missed opportunities, missed layups and missed free throws. This was another close game as the score was tied at halftime and the lead changed hands several times throughout the second half. 2015 took the lead late in the game, but couldn’t hold onto it and was forced to foul down the stretch. Down by 3 with only a few seconds left, 2015 had one last shot to tie the game, but a desperation 3 at the buzzer by Jake Marsh fell just short, and the team lost 42-39. Leading scorers were Jake Marsh with 11 and Anthony Jones and Trevor Waite with 10 each. Jake Marsh was the leading rebounder with 4.
The team’s last four losses have been by a combined 7 points. Coach Stone said, “This team is right there and on the verge of a breakout tournament. We have shown that we can play with the top teams and we just have to put it all together. We need everyone to show up at the same time.” 2015 hopes to get over the hump in the Players Club NIT at the Fieldhouse in Fishers this coming weekend.Monday, May 25
Spiece Hoosier Hoops Elite 2014 Finishes Top Eight at Memorial Day Run 'N Slam
Over Memorial Day Weekend Spiece Hoosier Hoops Elite 2014 participated in the Spiece Memorial Day Run 'N Slam All Star Classic in Fort Wayne. The team went up for the tournament shorthanded as Taylon Sondgerath was unavailable and guards Brock Stevens and Chase Timmons were battling injuries. In their first action of the tournament Spiece 2014 failed to play top notch basketball and let Team Detroit have their way with them in a 63-42 loss. In the game the team was hurt by numerous turnovers that Team Detroit capitalized on for baskets. After dropping their first pool game Spiece came over with desire against Common Bond building an early 22 to 0 lead before slowing the pace of the game and cruising to a 55 - 31 victory. The first round of the tournament brought an opponent to Spiece 2014 that placed first in their pool. Against the Cereal City Hoopsters center Kyle Thompson dominated dropping 23 points grabbing 8 rebounds and facilitating numerous other scoring opportunities for teammates. Spiece 2014 advanced by a final score of 55-48 and earned the right to play Spiece Select 2014 in the next round. Spiece Hoosier Hoops Elite 2014 showed their fatigue versus Spiece Select 2014 as they gave up early fast break buckets and fell into a hole early. After bouncing back the team was able to cut into the Spiece Select lead, but could never turn the momentum enough to get back on top. Guard Brody Kirby paced the team with 25 points in the game. Spiece Hoosier Hoops Elite 2014 lost by a final score of 67-61.

Hoosier Hoops 2014 Red Wins MYT Super Regional
By Kayle Funkhouser/Jeff Stone
Perry Meridian, IN -- 2014 Red won the 7th grade division of the MYT Super Regional at Perry Meridian over the weekend. The team defeated the Indy Eagles 51-36 in the Championship. Their games were full of events including technical fouls, rough play, players getting punched, poor officiating, trash talk and poor sportsmanship. Defense, rebounding, and free throws were the keys to winning the championship game. 2014 Red actually held onto their leads by jumping out early, hitting 3’s and getting double digit leads in each game. Kyle Loechel and Mitchell Collier rebounded extremely well, and the team got balanced scoring with Ryan Ruff, Jake Johnson, Conner Funkhouser, and Kyle Loechel providing the core points. James Mayberry got key steals when we needed. Conner Funkhouser hit 5 3’s in a row even after he was the guy who was punched by an opposing player. Kyle Funkhouser had 8 rebounds in a row on the defensive end, which was pivotal in holding their opponent to one shot on eight straight possessions after they cut 2014 Red’s lead to 7 points. Jake Johnson handled pressure from the opposing guard and hit free-throws after being fouled on drives to the basket. The bench was pivotal with Keith Kassen, Shawn Weir, and Matthew Baylor coming in and providing scoring and good defense in good minutes for the team.

Spiece Hoosier Hoops Elite 2015 Competes at USSSA State Championship
By Jeff Stone
Ft. Wayne, IN – Spiece Hoosier Hoops Elite 2015 competed in the 6th grade division of the USSSA State Championship in Ft. Wayne this past weekend. The team started the weekend off against the Indiana Thunder. They played well early leading throughout, but miscues and turnovers cost them the game, 34-33. Luke Callahan had a good look at the buzzer from the 3 point line, but came up short. Luke had 11 points and Trevor Waite scored 8. Brady Schall was the leading rebounder with 4. In the second game, Elite 2015 took it to the Cereal City Hoopsters winning 44-31. They used swarming defense and capitalized on turnovers to pull away in the second half. Trevor Waite had 6 steals and 13 points, and Jake Marsh had a solid offensive game chipping in 9 points. Jake Hendershot lead the team with 8 rebounds, followed by Jake Marsh with 7. In their first tournament game on Sunday, the team battled poor officiating and a very poor start just to be in the game. Poor execution and poor effort led to a 16-8 halftime deficit. The team battled back ourscoring the Spiece Boilermakers 23-17 in the second half. However, it wasn’t enough as Anthony Jones had a shot from point blank range at the buzzer to tie the game only to have it roll around the rim and out. Jake Marsh played very well off the bench and led the team in scoring with 11 and rebounding with 8, and was difficult to defend in the post. Trevor Waite provided excellent play on both ends of the floor and handled the ball extremely well in the face of some of the toughest defensive pressure the team has seen. Zach Hoereth provided great minutes off the bench as well. It was a disappointing weekend as a whole, but the team hopes to rebound at the Memorial Day Run n’ Slam over Memorial Day weekend.

By Darron Dancler/Jeff Stone
Ft. Wayne, IN -- Spiece Hoosier Hoops 2010 lost all 3 of their games over the weekend at USSSA State by a combined 18 points. Games 1 and 3 were almost identical; very close throughout, except for a late first half run by the opponent. 2010 battled back in each game, but could never quite get over the hump. Game 2 went down to the buzzer, where 2010 missed 6 layups in the first half alone, and had a chance to win with 2 seconds left, only to come up short. The team needs to improve defensively, play with more aggression and reduce the number of silly turnovers they commit. They will see their next action at the Memorial Day Run n’ Slam in Ft. Hoosier Hoops 2015 Teams See First Tournament Action at MYT National Club Challenge
By Jeff Stone
Southport, IN -- Hoosier Hoops 2015 Red had a tough start to the summer season losing both pool games and their first game of the tournament on Sunday. The team was overmatched in their pool games, but they never quit and continued to fight hard throughout. After practicing for only two weeks, the team had difficulty getting into their offensive and defensive sets and struggled at times with cohesiveness. In their first tournament game on Sunday, 2015 Red lost a heartbreaker to Hoop Dreams by 2 points in overtime. The team was led by big man Logan White, who was voted most valuable by Coach John Lautenschlager. Logan is the first winner of the Hoosier Hoops Hustle Award for 2015 Red. The players learned a lot about themselves and will see their next tournament action at the MYT Bring Your Game event in May.
Spiece Hoosier Hoops Elite 2015 went 1-2 on the weekend, losing their first pool game by 37 points to eventual champion The Ville. The Ville pressed throughout and jumped out to a big lead early and the outcome was never in doubt. Elite 2015 rebounded to defeat Hoop Dreams in their second pool game on Saturday by 26 points. In that game, Elite 2015 used a full court press to jump out to an early lead and never looked back. Going into Sunday’s tournament action with confidence, Elite 2015 again used a full court press to jump out to an early lead against a very good Indy Storm squad. The Storm settled down and had cut the lead to 2 at the half. Elite 2015 went cold in the second half, missing from inside and out, as well as at the free throw line. The Storm made shots and free throws down the stretch and Elite 2015 lost by 11. The boys learned a great deal about themselves and about what it takes to play at this level. Having been intimidated and tentative in the first game, they turned up the intensity in their next two games leaving the coaches with a feeling of great promise for the rest of the summer. They will see their next action at the USSSA State Finals at Ft. Wayne in May.

By JD Douglas/Jeff Stone
Southport, IN -- Coach JD Douglas and Hoosier Hoops 2011 White won their opening game of the MYT National Club Challenge 82 to 56 by playing good defense. In the second pool game the team was short handed after losing a player to an ankle injury and having two others foul out. The game ended in an 88 to 73 loss, although Hoosier Hoops 2011 White was clearly capable of winning. Sunday the team bounced back with an opening round tourney win by a score of 77 to 31 against Heartland Breakaway by playing the type of defense they plan on playing the rest of the season. The team lost in its semi-final game against Indiana Swish, who had not played an opening round game and was fresh. This team has tremendous potential and looks for great things this season. The next tournament action the team sees will be the first weekend of May in the MYT Bring Your Game event.

Hoosier Hoops 2016 Teams See First Action at MYT National Club Challenge
By Sherri Woods/Jeff Stone
Southport, IN -- Hoosier Hoops 2016 White lost their first two pool games on Saturday in the MYT National Club Challenge. The team came back Sunday with renewed spirits and won their first game in the tournament. After a solid first round victory, 2016 White lost the 2nd game Sunday to a very strong Indy Storm team. The boys had an opportunity to learn to play with each other and learned many valuable lessons about team play and how to be successful in the game of basketball. Hoosier Hoops 2016 White will return to action in two weeks at the MYT Bring Your Game tournament. Hoosier Hoops 2016 Red went 0-3 this weekend. They fought hard and had 2 games come down to the buzzer losing one by 3 points and the other by only a bucket in overtime. The team gathered valuable experience in competing against strong competition and gelling as a team. While the tough weekend could be seen as a setback, the boys will use their experiences as fuel to work harder in practice and prepare for the next tournament. The team has a number of new players and this past weekend served as an opportunity to grow as a team and create cohesiveness.

By Albert Hendrix/Jeff Stone
Southport, IN -- The Spiece Hoosier Hoops 2012 team played exceptionally well in its first and last game of the tournament, resulting in a tournament championship for The Hoosier Hoops Basketball Club. The team shot 60% from behind the 3point line in defeating The Mid-West Hoosier team 79-39. It was a great team effort and an enjoyable game to watch from the stands. Spiece defeated Indiana Swish in the second pool game by 14 points. In the first round of tournament play Spiece defeated ISSA Elite 68-59. In round two the Spiece 2012 team again defeated the Indiana Swish by 11 points to move on to the championship game.

Wabash attempted to fight back and at one point cut the lead to two points at 53-51 before free throws by Ray Solomon and Lance Magee helped seal the deal. Joe Reed and Nick Hutchinson, the big men for the Speice team, averaged 10 rebounds per game and Caleb Brannon, an eighth grader, came off the bench and contributed on the boards as well. Hoosier Hoops 2013 Red Sees First Tournament Action
By Shawn Kelly/Jeff Stone
Bloomington, IN -- Hoosier Hoops 2013 Red had a tough showing at the Easter Saturday Slam in Bloomington on April 11th going 0-2. The team played hard but was haunted by too many missed close range shots. In their first game, the team found themselves in a hole early and was not able to make a comeback, losing by just 3. In the second game the team shot better from outside and jumped out to an early lead. They led for most of the game. Missed lay-ups haunted the team once again as they suffered their second straight loss. The team will return to practice and continue to work hard.

Hoosier Hoops 2018 White Sees First Tournament Action
By Rob York/Jeff Stone
Fishers, IN -- Hoosier Hoops 2018 White saw their first tournament action on March 28th and 29th at The Fieldhouse in Fishers. In their first games as a team, they learned quickly the value of practicing against pressure, and how important this will be in the coming tournaments. While the team lacked experience playing together, they certainly weren't lacking for effort, which was a great source of pride for Coach York. Looking forward, Coach York is excited to see the team work hard and become more comfortable with one another. Practicing against pressure and continuing to learn how to deal with it as a team will be important in the coming weeks. The boys have been working hard and, although the results aren't yet what is expected, they are coming together as a team and looking forward to a lot of improvement.

Hoosier Hoops Players Win Indy Hoops Championship
By Jeff Stone
Avon, IN -- For the second straight year, Speedway advanced to the 6B championship game of the Indy Hoops League Tournament at Avon High School on February 22nd where they faced Noblesville. Speedway wasted no time in jumping out to an early lead, and they never looked back. Hoosier Hoops players playing in the game were Anthony Jones, Brady "Bradley" Schall, Corey Anderson and John Johnson. Johnson, who is a first time player for Hoosier Hoops in 2009, was the difference for the Plugs in a very physical, low scoring game. Johnson provided the "spark" for the Sparkplugs' defense, wreaking havoc at the top of their 3-2 zone defense. On the offensive end, he was unstoppable. He repeatedly drove to the basket or got himself open in the paint to score a game high 20 points. He also led the team in rebounds. Congratulations to the boys from Speedway!
In addition, several other Hoosier Hoops players advanced to the final four of the Indy Hoops 6B Tournament. Danville lost to Noblesville by five points in the semi-finals, and Plainfield Red fell to eventual champion Speedway. Hoosier Hoops players from Danville include Jayson Stone, Luke Callahan, Connor McGovern, Payton Perry and Brandon Siller. Perry and Siller are first time participants with Hoosier Hoops for 2009. Jake Marsh, from Plainfield Red, is also a first time participant. Congratulations to all of these players as well.

Hoosier Hoops 2014 Wins Race to the Championship Shootout
After an excellent week of practice, Hoosier Hoops 2014 was back at it again Memorial Day wekeend playing in a one day shootout on Saturday. The event was hosted by the Fieldhouse and included the following 6th grade teams: Hoosier Hoops 2014, Indy Eagles, Gem City Warriors, and the Fieldhouse Players Club.
Hoosier Hoops 2014's first game came against the Indy Eagles. The game began with much adversity and 2014 fell behind early on in the game. All eight players in attendance were able to keep their heads and focus on working to get back in the game through good patient play on offense and a tenatious defense. Hoosier Hoops 2014 took the lead for good when the Indy Eagles lost their composure after a shooting foul. Hoosier Hoops players knocked down 3 of 4 free throws to take a 2 point lead and never relinquished it. The game ended in a 63-58 Hoosier Hoops 2014 victory.
The team's next challenge came against the Gem City Warriors. A lacklustre first half defensively led to a deficit in the first half. Again, Hoosier Hoops 2014 was able to ocme out and overcome their poor first half with an extremely strong second half where they dominated defensively and won the second half by 27 points! The final score was 64-42.
In the round robin tournament's finale, Hoosier Hoops played the Fieldhouse Players Club, an in-house team from the Fieldhouse. A strong press and half cour trap quickly translated into a lead which swelled to 20 points. The team then switched into a man-to-man defense where they were able to work on defensive fundamentals and offensive team communication. The game was summed up in a ninteen pass offensive possession which ended in a wide-open lay-up! Hoosier Hoops 2014 showed their defensive ability as well as their unselfish patience on the offensive end. Hoosier Hoops 2014 won 39-66 in the tournament's final game and took home the hardware.
The team is now 7-1 since the return of Head Coach Nathaniel Wills from college and has finished with a tournament championship and a tournament runner-up. Hoosier Hoops 2014 looks to continue its hot streak in next weekend's Fieldhouse Players Club National Invitational Tournament from May 30th to June 1st.

Hoosier Hoops 2014 Finishes Second at MYT Indiana Super Regional
Hoosier Hoops 2014 finished the weekend with runners-up at the Indiana Super Regional hosted by Midwest Youth Tournaments at ISSA. The weekend began on Saturday morning with Hoosier Hoops 2014 welcoming back Head Coach Nathaniel Wills to Indiana by avenging a loss from earlier in the season with a 52-48 victory of the Circle City Kings. In their second pool game, Hoosier Hoops 2014 trounced the Columbus Jaguars convincingly with a 68-42 result. On Sunday, Hoosier Hoops 2014 drew a strong Hoopmatics team from northeast Indianapolis and was able to advance to the Final Four with a 58-50 win. In the semis, the team met a tough Indy Eagles team which finished at the top of their pool on Saturday. The first half was back and forth, but after halftime, Hoosier Hoops 2014 turned the jets on and cruised into the championship game with a 66-38 victory. Finally, in a much anticipated finals showdown, the Hoosier Hurricanes from southern Indiana faced Hoosier Hoops 2014 in what would prove to be and back and forth offensive showcase. The Hoosier Hurricanes shot the ball from deep extremely well while Hoosier Hoops showed their ability to work the ball inside and get to the hoop. The end of the game resulted in a well fought 60-55 loss for Hoosier Hoops 2014. Over the course of the weekend, Hoosier Hoops was able to amass a 4-1 record and gelled even more as a team. With events such at the Fieldhouse Player's Club NIT and the Midwest Youth Tournament National Championships coming up in the month of June, the team needed a weekend like this to get a head of steam going prior to these events. Way to go Hoosier Hoops 2014!

2015 GOES 2-1 AT AYBT INDY SPRING KICKOFF
Hoosier Hoops 2015 participated in the Indy Spring Kickoff at The Fieldhouse in Fishers on Saturday, May 10th. With only two 5th grade teams signed up to play, 2015 got to see what they could do against a couple of 6th grade teams.
In the first game, 2015 played the 6th grade Fieldhouse Players Club team. The Players Club had a huge size advantage, but didn’t use it as 2015 pulled out a hard fought win, 41-40. In the second game, 2015 played the 5th grade Fieldhouse Players Club team. 2015 used a full-court press early and jumped out to a 20-2 lead. 2015 finished with a 66-31 victory, in which every player scored. In game 3, 2015 was physically overmatched and dropped the last game to the TVC Ballers. A late run by 2015 made it respectable, but they were still blown out by the Ballers. The bigger Ballers dominated the boards on both ends and used their advantage for a lot of easy points off of put backs.
All in all, it was a successful day for Hoosier Hoops 2015. Luke Callahan was the top scorer on the day, averaging 14 points a game, followed by Anthony Jones with 9 points a game. Brady Schall was the leading rebounder on the day with 21 for 7 per. Jake Hendershot was second in rebounds with 20 for 6.7 per. Brady Schall was the top assist man with 10 and only 5 turnovers. 2015 had fewer turnovers than their opponents for the first time during the summer season, which the coaches hope continues. "We have been talking a lot about taking care of the ball and decreasing our turnovers. I hope this weekend’s games serve as a confidence booster for the boys," said Coach Jeff Stone. "The boys played well together and were able to work on some things." 2015 will next participate in the Race to the Championship Shootout at The Fieldhouse on Memorial Day weekend.

Hoosier Hoops 2015 Continues Strong Start
HOOSIER HOOPS 2015 TAKES RUNNER-UP AT MYT BRING YOUR GAME Two tournaments, two trips to the championship for Hoosier Hoops 2015. Unfortunately, those trips have yet to yield a championship, as 2015 finished second in the MYT Bring Your Game Tournament at ISSA this past weekend. A strong showing in pool play resulted in a 2-0 record and a number one seed for the tournament on Sunday for 2015. In game one, 2015 beat Team Muncie Black 52-40 in a well played game. 2015 passed the ball extremely well and played tough defense for the win. In game two against Indy South, the game went down to the wire with 2015 holding on for a 39-38 victory. Both teams were evenly matched and played hard the entire contest. Indy South was down one and had the ball with a little less than 20 seconds remaining in the game. They chose to put the ball in the hands of their best player and hold it for the last shot. A strong defensive stand by 2015 yielded a missed shot and a defensive rebound and a timeout with 3.5 seconds left. After the timeout, 2015 in-bounded the ball and ran out the clock for the win. On Sunday, 2015 faced Team Muncie Black again in the semi-finals. This was a very physical game and both teams were beaten up throughout the game. However, 2015 managed to hang on and pull away in the last few minutes for a 42-34 win and a trip to the championship where they would face the Bloomington Blaze. The championship game was another tough contest, but 2015 led most of the way. The half-time score was 19-16, in favor of 2015. The second half was filled with missed shots and missed opportunities for 2015. Although they severely out rebounded the Blaze, many offensive trips went without points to show for it, with 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances coming up empty. A change is defenses late in the game proved to be costly according to Coach Jeff Stone. “We went from a 3-2 zone to a 2-3 so we could get out on the shooters in the corner. It didn’t work because they went down and hit a 3 from the corner on the next possession. We should have changed it back, but didn’t. They hit two more 3’s from the top and went up 8. That all happened with less than 4 minutes to go. We fought back and cut it to 3, but just ran out of time. We also should have changed our offense a lot sooner than we did in order to take advantage of our size. We were bigger than they were and dominated inside. We just didn’t do it soon enough. It was a tough loss, but one that we will learn from,” said Stone. Hoosier Hoops 2015 will play next weekend in the AYBT “Spring Kickoff” Tournament at The Fieldhouse in Fishers.

Hosier Hoops 2012 Finishes 2nd in 14U Division at MYT Club Challenge
Hoosier Hoops 2012 finished as the runner-up in the 14U division of the MYT National Club Challenge this past weekend at ISSA. Hoosier Hoops 2012 went 1-1 in their 3 team pool falling to a quality Hoosier Hype team and defeating Midwest Finest 14U. After finishing second in pool play, Hoosier Hoops 2012 met up with a Madison, IN team that had defeated them at the MYT March Mania event earlier in the year. However, the end result would be different this time as Hoosier Hoops 2012 went on to win a close 51 to 50 quarterfinal match-up. In the semis, Hoosier Hoops 2012 was challenged by a strong IN SWISH Select 14U team that had previous posted an impressive quarterfinal victory over the Midwest Hoosiers. Once again though, Hoosier Hoops 2012 prevailed in another nail bitter with a final score of 71 to 69.In the finals, Hoosier Hoops 2012 once again went head to head with a Hoosier Hype team that has been well respected statewide for a number of years. Hoosier Hoops 2012 could not get over the hump against Hoosier Hype and fell by 12 points in the championship game. The final score of this defensive game was 31 to 19.

Hoosier Hoops 2015 Places in MYT National Club Challenge
Two weeks of practice wasn’t enough for Hoosier Hoops 2015 to win their first tournament, but it was enough to finish as the Runner-Up this past weekend in the MYT National Club Challenge. The squad went 1-1 in pool play on Saturday, losing to the Bugeaters in the first game, and beating ISSA Indy South in overtime in the second game. It was good enough for the #2 seed in the 11U division tournament. In the semi-final game on Sunday, Hoosier Hoops earned a hard fought victory over a scrappy Hoop Dreams team from Lexington, Kentucky. With several lead changes throughout the game, Hoop Dreams took the lead and the momentum late in the game. However, two technical fouls on the Hoop Dreams bench resulted in Hoosier Hoops 2015 taking the lead for good. Luke Callahan of Danville went to the free throw line to shoot the free throws and sunk them all with less than three minutes to play. 2015 spent the rest of the game playing keep away and shooting free throws as Hoop Dreams was forced to foul. The final score was 38-30.
In the championship game, the Bugeaters came out strong and showed 2015 what it means to be the number one team in the state in their age division. The Bugeaters jumped out to a 17-1 lead early and never looked back. The Bugeaters outrebounded, outran and outplayed 2015 and went on to a lopsided victory. The final score was 64-23. The good news is that Hoosier Hoops 2015 came home with hardware, and there is no shame in finishing second to a strong team that has played together for several years.
Hoosier Hoops 2015 showed glimpses of what they are capable of, and there will be good things to come, and more victories to be earned. Hoosier Hoops was led in scoring by Anthony Jones of Speedway with 43 total points, an average of 10.75 per game. Luke Callahan scored 36 total points, an average of 9.0 per game, and made 14 of 22 free throws for 64%. Jake Hendershot of Tri-West was the leading rebounder with 29 total, for an average of 7.25 per game. Jones followed with 26 total rebounds, for 6.5 per game. Brady Schall led the way with 8 assists and only 2 turnovers. Unfortunately, 2015 turned the ball over 63 times in 4 games, an average of 15.75 per game. Hoosier Hoops 2015 will be playing next in the MYB Bring Your Game Tournament at Indy Southside Sports Academy in Southport the first weekend in May.
