Spring 2009 Age Groups

Select Season:

8U Girls Softball
Girls Coach Pitch Softball Ages 7 & 8.
Coaches slow-pitch from 30 ft. from home plate and they use 11 inch balls. 10 players will be on the field. The batter is allowed 5 pitches or 3 strikes. Runners may not advance until the ball is hit (no leading off). Play stops when a defensive player calls "time" but she must either be in the pitcher's circle or in front of the lead runner. Each team can only bat 10 players in an inning OR their turn at bat is over after 3 outs regardless of the number of batters.

10U Girls Softball
Girls Fastpitch Softball Ages 9 & 10.
Girls pitch from 35 ft from home plate with 11 inch balls. 10 players on the field. Runners may steal 2nd and 3rd bases only after the ball passes home plate. They may not steal home. At this age, there is no infield fly rule.

12U Girls Softball
Girls Fastpitch Softball Ages 11 & 12.
Girls fast pitch from 40 ft from home plate with 12 inch balls. 10 players on the field. Runners may steal 2nd, 3rd, and home after the ball leaves the pitcher's hand. Batters may steal 1st base on a dropped ball on the 3rd strike (known as the Dropped 3rd strike rule). Offense can bat as many players as necessary until they have 3 outs. At this age, the infield fly rule applies.
