Homestead Little League: Welcome

This is the official site of the Homestead Little League in Homestead Florida.
The Homestead Little League was established in 1953 and has been nurturing the youth of Homestead, Florida for over 56 years. Like all Little League programs, Homestead Little League is administered by volunteers who dedicate their time and effort so that the children of our community have the opportunity to play and have fun.

To Up-Date our dedicated readers:

 The Homestead Little League Board has started selling raffle tickets for $5 as a league fund raiser. These tickets are kindly provided by General Motors Corp. and our local sponsor, Homestead Chevrolet and Cadillac, free of charge to the league. 100% of sales go to the Homestead Little League funds. 1 Grand Prize winner will receive his or her choice of a brand new 2010 Chevy Equinox or Malibu. Up to 35 runner up prizes of a Home Entertainment Center.
Each raffle ticket comes with coupons for a discounted oil change at Homestead Chevrolet and Cadillac, and $15 off Goodwrench Car Care Service purchases of $100 or more. Ticket sales will end at Spring 2010 season close and the drawing will take place on July 28, 2010.

The league is also looking for players to help sell tickets during the Homestead Rodeo Events. Each player is encouraged to wear previous year uniforms, and to bring a smile.

You don't have to stay the whole time, but your efforts are appreciated. During the parade we will have a truck provided by Homestead Chevrolet and Cadillac to proudly display our banner and gather support and more numbers from the city.

Also, the Tryouts and Draft will be held during the second week of Febraury. Tryouts for all ages will take place on Monday Febraury 8th @ 6pm for last name begins with A-M, February 9th for last name begins with N-Z, and February 10th as a make up day for those unable to attend. The draft will happen on that Thursday, February 11th. All pre-draft picks must be entered by 7pm February 10th. Coaches will be notifying players of practice and teams during the weekend. IF YOU COACH HAS NOT CONTACTED YOU BY THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY, PLEASE NOTIFY THE BOARD AT HOMESTEADLL@GMAIL.COM. Please send your childs name, age, and a good callback number for us to notify you.

Parents, if you have not turned in a copy of your childs birth certificate, shown eligible proof of residency, or need a medical waiver turned in, please kindly do so as soon as possible.  We are at the field every Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm to 7:30pm, or you can turn it in on your childs draft date.

As usual, registrations are being accepted every Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm to 7:30pm. Please register your child before the end of the tryouts on February 10th, as any later registrations may have a late fee imposed. Player clinics are still held every Tuesday and Thursday until tryouts, and volunteers are requested. Bring your game faces and team player spirit.

Any parent who wishes to coach must have completed a volunteer application, and have turned it in before February 8th. All parents who wish to enter any Little League Field must have attended a coaches and parent clinic. These clinics will go over certain aspects of Little League that are expected to be respected, basic first aid, and information about services Little League International and Homestead Little League can offer you.

Our board members have started the years equipment survey. 

 All though it appears that we have ample amounts of equipment to start practices and events, we are looking at purchasing approximately $2,000 worth of brand new equipment, including game balls and batting helmets.

During the board order survey, we discovered the great extent of the deterioration of our storage locker, located at Harris Field behind fields 2 & 3. Photo documentation can be found at http://hll.icedragon198807.net. We are seriously recommending to the board that the equipment locker not only be replaced, but be removed as a safety hazard as soon as possible. Currently, the equipment still in operational condition is stored else where, and broken and out-dated equipment has been discarded. 

The Homestead Little League takes this loss and issue seriously. A new storage locker will need to be purchased for equipment storage by the end of the 2010 spring season.

Sponsorships are our largest form of income, and donations are always gladly accepted. Please contact the league if you are interested in sponsorships or donations. You will be recognized in some way for your efforts. Please know that we are a not-for-profit organization and donations received by the league are tax deductible.

We are still registering players! In person registrations are taken at the Harris Field Baseball Complex Concession Stand on Tuesdays & Thursdays between 6pm and 7:30pm.

The Homestead Little League Board is proud to announce we have brought back online registrations!

 Starting today November 14th, 2009, parents can register their children for the 2010 Spring season. Hurry, if you register before December 31st, you will receive a $10 discount off the registration price.

 This years fee's are:

$95 - First Child ($85 before December 31, 2009)
$85 - Second Child ($75 before December 31, 2009)
$75 - Third Child & every subsequent child ($65 before December 31, 2009)

We are also pleased to announce we have lowered the T-Ball rate:

$55 - Flat Fee for Every Child in T-Ball
