Game #6 vs. Sachse  - Allen wins 11 - 0
Tuesday Mar. 3

Pitching and Defense wins ballgames.  The JV Eagles demonstrated that
tonight in its win over Sachse.  Cory Schoonover(1 - 1)pitched 5 shutout
innings giving up just 2 hits while striking out 4.  Coleman Stafford
finished the final two frames pitching to only 6 batters, striking out 3.
In 7 innings of pitching, the Eagles only faced 24 batters.  Good defense
complimented the pitching, with a 1-6-3 (Schoonover to Semler to Hope)
double play in the first.  Kevin Spry threw out a runner at first base...
from right field for the 3rd out in the 3rd inning. In the 4th, after 2
errors had runners at first and third,  Josh Trees, caught a fly ball in
left.  In an attempt to double off the runner at first, Josh threw to first
but a tad late.  The runner at third broke on the throw and first baseman
Ryan Hope threw home but too late...except the runner did not touch home.
Josh Taylor, reacting to the umpire's no call, quickly tagged the runner out
preserving the shutout. Logan Fanning snagged a line drive at third and
doubled up the runner at first to end the 5th inning with the game's 3rd
double play.

Thursday Mar. 5th
McKinney JV Tournament Record 1 - 0
Season Record 6 - 1

The JV Eagles started strong in the first game of the McKinney Tournament
run ruling Sherman 12 - 2 in just 4 innings.  The Allen bats started in the
first, sending 11 batters to the plate scoring 6 runs.  Coach Bruton's
lineup was well made with the  bottom third of the order (Spears, Taylor and
Trees) accounting for 8 RBIs because of the table setting by the top 6.
Special cudos to Josh Trees who had 3 hits and 5 RBIs.
Defensively, the Eagles were solid except for throwing the ball around in
the 3rd which lead to 2 unearned runs.  These are the only 2 runs the Eagles
have allowed in the last 15 innings.  Will Cernosek (3 - 0) started and
pitched all 4 innings, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 3 to pick up
his third win of the season.

Game #8 vs. McKinney Boyd  - Allen ties 4 - 4  (Allen loses according to
tournament tie breaker)
Friday Mar. 6th
McKinney JV Tournament Record 1 - 1
Season Record 6 - 1 - 1

The JV Eagles have had only one close game before Friday and it was also
against McKinney Boyd.  Boyd answered Allen's opening inning runs scoring in
both the first and second inning to go ahead 3 - 2.  A single run in the 4th
left the score 4 - 2 going to the top of the 5th when Allen rallied to tie
the score 4 - 4.  Logan Fanning (1 - 0) pitched the first 4 innings
striking out 3.  Coleman Stafford (1 - 0) pitched the next two innings
extending his scoreless streak by 2.  The game ended in a tie due to the
tournament imposed time limit.  The tournament tie breaker scenerio gave the
"win" to Boyd. Circle March 24th on the calendar -  that is the next
schedule meeting between Allen and Boyd.

Offensively for the Eagles:
Josh Ingram - Single, walk, stolen base, run scored
Kevin Spry - 2 Singles, 2 RBIs, 3 stolen bases, 2 runs scored

Game #9 vs. Lovejoy - Allen wins 10  - 0
Saturday Mar. 7th
McKinney JV Tournament Record 2 - 1
Season Record 7 - 1 - 1

Lovejoy was the victim of the Eagle's second run rule victory of the
McKinney Tournament.  Matt Beaton (1 - 0, 1 save) pitch a one hitter for the
Eagles in the 4 inning game striking out 4 and was just the one hit away
from a perfect game, facing just 13 batters. Kevin Spry had a nice snag in
right field to preserve the perfecto that was later broken up in the second
inning.  The Eagles scored in each of the 4 innings.  Josh Trees continues
the RBI binge with 3 RBIs on an inside the park HR to go along with his
triple.

Offensively for the Eagles:

Game #10 vs. Plano West - Allen wins 2  - 1
Tuesday Mar. 10th
Season Record 8 - 1 - 1
District Record 1 - 0

The JV Eagles started 8 -5A District play Tuesday night at home. Cory
Schoonover (1 - 1) started and pitched 7 innings striking out 10 and
allowing only 1 run on 3 hits.  Most nights, that means a win.  However, for
the second time this season the Eagle Offense left Cory high and dry even
though the night was humid and damp. After a double by Adam Majors in the
bottom of the 6th, Plano West presented Allen with a gift when the catcher's
throw to first, after a dropped 3rd strike, ended up in right field allowed
Majors to score.  Even with the 10 K's, the Eagles benefited from a
outstanding catch from Majors going deep to left center to track down a fly
ball in the 7th which would have scored a Plano West runner if not caught.

After 7 complete, the score was still 1 - 1 even though Allen had runners on
2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th and could not push across a
run. Kevin Spry (1 - 0) came in to pitched the 8th and faced just 4 batters.
Although he had two strikeouts, the highlight of the inning belonged to
Austin Weibel who replaced Spry in right field and caught a long fly ball
that would have been an easy double.

Spry led off the offensive 8th with a walk and stole 2nd. He was then hit in
on a single by Majors - BALLGAME! Eagles win 2 - 1.

Offensively for the Eagles:
Josh Ingram - Single
Kevin Spry - Walk, stolen base, run scored
Logan Fanning - HBP
Josh Taylor - Single, walk
Josh Trees - Single
Adam Majors - Double, Single, RBI, run scored

Game #11 vs. Naaman Forest - Allen wins 10  - 0
Friday Mar. 20th
Season Record 9 - 1 - 1
District Record 1 - 0

After an unscheduled 10 day layoff, the JV Eagles registered their 3rd run
rule victory of the season.  Matt Beaton (2 - 0, 1 save) started on the
mound and pitched all 5 innings in the 10 - 0 victory.  This was Matt's
second consecutive 10 - 0 shutout. After a sluggish 1st inning at the plate,
the Eagle bats looked very crisp in the 2nd inning, sending 11 batters to
the plate scoring 6 runs.  The Eagle offense added the final 4 runs in the
5th inning to end the game.

Offensively for the Eagles:
Josh Ingram - Single, walk, 2 RBIs, stolen base, 2 runs scored
Josh Trees - 3 Singles, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored

Game #12 vs. McKinney Boyd - Allen wins 3 - 2
Tues Mar. 24th
Season Record 10 - 1 - 1
District Record 2 - 0

Round 3 goes to Allen!! After an early season loss and tie with Boyd, the JV
Eagles broke through with a victory over McKinney Boyd in their second
district game.  Just like in the first meeting, Cory Schoonover (2 - 1) and
Kevin Spry (1 - 0, 1 save) split the pitching duties and again just gave up
2 runs.  However unlike the first game with Boyd, the Eagle offense scored 3
runs in the first inning and the pitching and defense made it stand up.
Cory picked up the win with 5 innings pitched and 3 K's.  Kevin finished the
final 2 frames with 2 strikeouts for the save.  The Eagles survived a scare
in the bottom of the 6th when a Boyd Bronco tried to bulldoze catcher Josh
Taylor.  Josh took the hit, got the out and the BOGUS Bronco was busted and
ejected!! Eagles win!!

Offensively for the Eagles:
Josh Ingram - Single, run scored
Josh Trees - walk
Ryan Hope - Double
Kevin Spry - walk, run scored
Josh Taylor - 2 walks

After another unexpected week off, the JV Eagles put in a very business
like performance in winning their 3rd district game and 11th of the
season. Logan Fanning (2 - 0) had the Wildcats saying #@*#@@!! with 11
strikeouts on the mound.  In his 7 innings of work, Logan only gave up 2
hits to collect the 4th shutout of the year for the Eagles.  The only real
threat from Plano came in the 4th inning when the Wildcats had the bases
loaded with one out.  A ground ball to third, allowed Matt Beaton to throw
out the runner at home for the second out.  The next batter hit a weak pop
up to first baseman Ryan Hope and the Eagles were out the inning.
Josh Ingram lead the offense with 2 hits, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.  Josh
Trees had 3 RBIs

Game #14 vs. Jesuit - Allen wins 9 - 5
 Tues Mar. 31th
 Season Record 12 - 1 - 1
 District Record 4 - 0

Bump! Hustle! Shake your Bootie! this ain't no night at the disco  - this
is BASEBALL!!!  Although the JV Eagles started slow being down to Jesuit
5 - 1 after 5 innings, the JV Moms were encouraging the team as they
danced the night away to the tunes of DJ Jazzy Jesuit.   And like most
high school dances where the girls are ready to boogie, the boys seems
less enthused UNTIL the next to The Last Dance when the Allen offense
exploded like the Disco Inferno we have seen before, scoring 8 runs in   the
top of the 6th and preserved the Brickhouse solid undefeated district
 record.

Pitching duties were broken up between  three pitchers.  James Trevino
started and pitched 2 Innings with 2 strikeouts.  In the top of the 3rd
Tommy Chezem (1 - 0) made his season debut pitching 3 strong innings to
pick up the win.  Coleman Stafford did what every good closer should do
after his team scores 8 runs to take the lead - SHUT DOWN the other team.
In the bottom of the 6th Coleman faced 3 batters and 3 batters struck
 out!!

The Offensive 6th saw the Eagles send 12 men to the plate.  The inning was
epitomized by Austin Wiebel's at bat.  Getting down  0-2 with 2 men on and
no outs, Austin fought back in the count, fouling off 4 pitches and
eventually drew a walk to load the bases.  Austin was pinch hitting for
Cory Schoonover who played a great game at first for the injured Ryan
 Hope.

Offensively for the Eagles:
Logan Fanning - HBP, Walk, Stolen base, 2 runs scored
Josh Ingram - Triple, Single, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored

 Game #15 vs. Rowlett - Allen wins 3 - 2
    Sat. April 4th
    Season Record 13 - 1 - 1
    District Record 4 - 0

Rowlett provided the JV Eagles the closest game of the year for any
team not named Boyd.  Matt Beaton (2 - 0) started on the hill for the Eagles
and gave up only 2 runs in six innings of work.  Usually giving up just 2
runs is good enough for a win.  However, the Rowlett pitchers matched Matt's
performance of just giving up 2 runs through 6 innings.  But they play 7
innings and that inning was won by the Eagles.  Cory Schoonover (3 - 1) came
in to pitch the 7th and faced just 3 batters. In the bottom of the 7th Cody
Semler reached on an error.  Josh Ingram singled to move him to 3rd.  With 2
outs Josh Taylor collected his 4th hit of the game and the winning RBI with
a deep double over the centerfielder's head.  In addition to his four hits
and almost hitting for the cycle,  Josh Taylor also had two put outs on pop
foul balls. Schoonover picks up his third win of the year and the winning
streak
continues!

    Offensively for the Eagles:
Josh Taylor - Triple, Double, 2 Singles 2 RBIs,
    Josh Ingram - Single
Josh Trees - Single, RBI, stolen base, run scored
James Trevino - walk, stolen base
    Cody Semler - run scored
Austin Wiebel - Double, HBP, run scored

    Sat. April 4th
    Season Record 13 - 2 - 1
    District Record 4 - 0

Rowlett continued to be a difficult opponent in the back half of the
doubleheader.  Will Cernosek (3 - 1) started the game on the mound and
pitched 1 plus inning.  Kevin Spry (1 - 0)  pitched 5 innings striking out 3
and Coleman Stafford (1 - 0) pitched the 7th. Although the score was  0 - 0
after 1 inning, the JV Eagles found themselves down 5 - 0 after 2 and never
got it back to even.  The closest they got was scoring 3 in the 3rd to get
the game to 5 -3. Rowlett added a 6th run in the 7th and Allen responded
with a run in the bottom of the 7th, but unlike the first game, did not have
enough for the complete comeback.  A new winning streak to start on Tuesday.

    Offensively for the Eagles:

Cody Semler - 2 walks, run scored
Josh Taylor - Single, 2 walks

    Game #19 vs. Coppell - Allen loses 10 - 0
    Saturday  April 11th
    Season Record 15 - 3 - 1
    District Record 6 - 0

For the first time this year,  there are really no highlights for the JV
Eagles.  The offense had only two base runners in 5 innings, both on walks.
The defense had 3 errors and the pitching gave up 10 runs on 11 hits, 5
walks and 2 hit batters.

Game #20 vs. Mckinney Boyd - Allen loses 4-2                           Tuesday  April 14th
        Season Record 15 - 4 - 1
        District Record 6 - 1

Game 20 of the season was another close game with McKinney
Boyd.  Logan Fanning (3 - 0) started for the JV Eagles giving up 2 runs in 3 innings of work striking out 2.  Tommy Chezem (1 - 1) worked the final 4 frames giving up 2 runs while striking out 7. But giving up 4 runs is pretty average for this team.  Over these first 20 games the JV Eagles have yielded an average of 3.2 runs per game.  However, as with the other 3 games with Boyd this season, the Allen offense had a difficult time getting started. Boyd held Allen scoreless until the 6th inning when they scored 2 runs.  The Eagles had 2 on in the 7th but could push across the tying run.   On average this year the JV Eagles have scored 8.0 runs per game in the 16 games that were not against Boyd and have only mustard 2.5 runs per game in the 4 Boyd games.  This was Allen's first district lose and the first time they have
lost 2 straight.

        Ryan Hope - Single
        Kevin Spry - Triple,run scored

Offensively for the Eagles:
Josh Ingram - Single, 2 walks, run scored

Kevin Spry (3 - 0) took the hill in the second game of the Friday night doubleheader.  Kevin pitched a complete game to earn his 3rd win of the year.  The JV Eagles had to work to win this game as they spotted Plano East 3 runs in the top of the first on a series of errors.  It didn't take long to rectify the situation as the Eagles scored 6 in the bottom of the first.  They also added a single run in the 5th and two in the 6th for the win.
