The "Championship Meets" follow the dual meet season and weekend relay meet season, and usually run from about mid-May until the first week of June. For Holy Cross, the championship meets usually include, in order:
BCSL Divisional Meet - This meet is sponsored by the Burlington County Scholastic League as the Divisional Meet Championship for the BCSL Freedom, Patriot and Liberty Divisions. We compete against other teams only in our division (Patriot Division). But note that winning this meet does not mean the team is the Division Champion, but is the Divisional Meet Champion (the "Division Champion" is based on the season's dual meet record). Note that for individuals, results from the Divisional Meet are used to help determine the BCSL All-Stars;
Burlington County Open - The "Burlington County Championships" sponsored by the Burlington County Track Coaches Association. We compete against ALL teams in Burlington County, including Lenape, Cherokee, Shawnee, and Seneca, which are not part of the BCSL;
South Jersey Parochial Championships - The public schools have "sectional meets" sanctioned by the NJSIAA to qualify for the Group Championships, but not the parochial schools. In their place, many South Jersey parochial schools compete in this meet, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, for the South Jersey Parochial Championship. We compete against other South Jersey parochial schools in our Group (Group A). Many Central Jersey and North Jersey parochial schools compete in a similar meet sponsored by the NJ Catholic Track Conference;
Group Championships - Also know as "Groups" or "States," these are the State Group Championships run by the NJSIAA. Our team competes against other Parochial Schools from all over New Jersey for the (team) State Championship in our Group (Parochial Group A). For individuals and relay teams, the top 6 finishers in each event from each of the 6 Groups (Public Groups 1, 2, 3, 4 and Parochial Groups A and B) qualify for the Meet of Champions, plus, the next best 6 finishers regardless of which Group theyre from (these are the wildcards); and
State Championship - Also known as "All Groups" and most commonly called the "Meet of Champions," this meet is for those individuals and relay teams who qualified at the Group Championships for the (individual) State Championship. This meet is also sponsored by the NJSIAA.
Team track & field championships for Holy Cross are listed in the Champions Folder.
