Formerly known as the Marlins, we are now the A's.  To keep it simple, the truth of the matter is no one liked turquoise and black!  Besides, now that we are the A's, the color scheme resembles the GlenOak Eagles team colors!  An added bonus!

For the 2008 season, the A's will be coached by the dynamic duo of Dave Bianchi and Tom Starek.  Dave has years of experience in coaching and a family baseball legacy within the Canton area.  Dave's primary role will be to teach our children how to play the game.  Dave also serves as the B league vice president.

Tom's role (well, mine really), is assistant coach and parent interface (not parent rep).  In addition, I am the Player Agent for the league (the data guy), schedule all the games, and maintain the main website.

Both Dave and I have boys on the team but also have older boys that play for the GlenOak baseball team.  Both of our older sons came through the Holly Hills program and are very successful as part of the GlenOak Eagles.  Dave's son Alec, is a sophmore playing on the JV team.  My son Nathan, is a Junior playing on the varsity team.  Dave coached both of these players so I hope that illustrates his ability.

During the course of the season, if you have questions or a problem that needs to be addressed, please feel free to seek us out and we will try to assist.  You will find our contact information by clicking on the "Roster" tab on the left side of this page.  Our information is also on the main website under "Board."

CARDINALS WALK AWAY WITH VICTORY

The last regular season game was a difficult game for the A's.  Although the game meant nothing in terms of standings, losing 7-5 was not the best way to end the season.  Walks and hit batters were the key reason the A's gave up 4 runs in the first and 2 in the 7th.

At the plate, the middle and bottom of the line-up were the ones scoring runs for the A's.  In the 5th, training 5-1, Davis Bianchi led off with a walk.  Evan Baker followed with a single.  Michael Silagy singled.  This writer thinks Bianchi scored on a passed ball which moved Baker to third and Silagy to second.  Cody Johnson singled and scored Baker.  Silagy scores on a passed ball.  Johnson moves to second.  Patrick Downing singles and moves Johnson to third.  Jonathan Starek singles scoring Johnson.  THE GAME IS TIED AT 5!  Downing is at third and Starek at second with only one out!  Ricky Drummond lines one to the short stop....HE CATHCES THE BALL!  OH NO!  TWO OUTS!  Finally, Zach Williams comes to the plate.  He has been a key role in these situations.  First pitch... he grounds one to short... he picks it up and throws to first!  Is he safe?  NO!  The throw gets him by a step the innining is over!

In the 6th, the Cardinals got 2 more runs on 4 walks and a hit.  But the A's would not go quietly.  Nick Brothers walked but was thrown out trying to steal second.  Evan Banker reached safely by taking one for the team.  Silagy and Jack Lund walked to load the bases but the A's batters just could not get a run home.

A disappointing end to a great season.  The A's end the season with 15 wins and only 2 losses!  Thanks A's, it has been a great ride!  On to the playoffs!
