Coaching and Volunteer Applications for 2010 now available

Coaching and Volunteer applications for 2010 are available under Forms (to the left).  All new and returning coaches must submit a Coaching application, a Volunteer application and a copy of a valid Driver's License or other photo ID.

Registration for the 2010 Spring Season Continues Through February

 

Believe it or not, we are beginnng our fifth month of registration for the 2010 Spring Season!

On-line registration is available here or you can download the Player Registration forms and mail the completed forms, along with payment, to Holden Baseball Program, Inc., P.O. Box 117, Holden, MA 01520.  Our current fee structure is as follows:

* Holden Baseball will strive to accept registrations submitted on or after 3/1/10 to the extent possible, but we cannot guarantee placement of your child at the levels noted after this date.  To ensure that your son(s) / daughter(s) will be playing baseball in the Spring, please submit your registration by 2/28/10! 

Holden Baseball Spring Leagues include Instructional League for pre-K players, Rookie League for players in Kindergarten, A for 1st Graders and AA for 2nd Graders as well as AAA, Junior Little League and Little League (or Little League Majors) for players who meet the Little League age requirements (between 9 and 12 as of April 30, 2010).  In addition, Holden Baseball offers Babe Ruth for players between 13-15 years old, Wachusett Region Tivnan League for players between 16-18 years old, and Wachusett Region American Legion for players up to 19 years of age.  (Note that registration for 2010 American Legion is not currently open.)  Please contact us at holdenbaseball@gmail.com with any questions.

Umpiring Class begins Thursday, March 18

Holden Baseball will again be conducting an Umpiring Class beginning March 18th.  This 5-week class will be held at the Wachusett Regional High School on Thursday nights from 6PM until 7:30PM and runs thru April 15th.  Adults and students interested in umpiring Holden Baseball games are required to attend umpire training.  Returning umpires with at least 2 years experience do not need to attend the class but still must register.   To be eligible, students must be over the Little League age, meaning students must be 13 by April 30, 2010.  These classes are also open to Managers and Coaches of Holden Baseball interested in getting a better knowledge of the rules.

Board Meeting Scheduled for Tuesday, 3/2/10 at 7PM

The next meeting of the Holden Baseball Board of Directors is scheduled for Tuesday, March 2nd, starting at 7PM.  The meeting will take place in the Community Room of the Holden Municipal Light Department.

As always, parents interested in volunteering their time to assist with Holden Baseball are encouraged to attend.

Holy Cross to offer Free Coaches Clinic in February

The College of the Holy Cross Baseball Program will be conducting a free clinic for local coaches on Sunday, February 14, 2010, from 10am-12pm in the Holy Cross Fieldhouse. More information on this event will be available on the Holy Cross Athletics website (www.goholycross.com) in the coming weeks.

Safety/First Aid Clinic Offered

A Safety and First Aid Clinic will be conducted on Saturday February 27, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Higgins Lab room 116 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute Worcester, MA.

Ripkin Coaching Clinic coming to Boston on February 20th

Ripken Coaching Clinics provide a unique instructional session for coaches, parents and baseball enthusiasts. Over the past couple of years, Ripken Baseball's Clinics have become increasingly popular and respected as one of the best baseball coaching forums in the nation. The clinics will feature coaching instruction from Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr., 12-year major league veteran Bill Ripken and former Oriole teammate and 11-year major league veteran John Habyan.
