Take Me Out to the Ball Game
Practice
The Tigers have two scheduled practices at the Hobart Little League Complex. We will practice behind the Minor B's field. Practice will be Tuesday 5:30 - 6:30 and Saturday 9:00 - 10:30. Also at times we may practce at the Dust Bowl. This is behind the Hobart Middle School.
Next Practice
Practice tonight is cancelled Tuesday April 12th. Our next practice is scheduled for Saturday at 9:00. The Practice will again be at the Hobart Little League complex.
Your Glove
Players need to bring their baseball glove to all practices and games. Please have your name printed clearly on your glove. This way if we find a glove after a practice or game we know who it belongs to. Also you should have a baseball cap on. This will help with the sun when we work on fly balls.
Practice at Home
To be a good Baseball Player you have to Practice at home. Get a parent, Brother, sister, or friend to go out and play some catch. See if Mom or Dad will take you to the batting cage. Sorry parents the closest one is in Valpo that I know of. Go out in the yard and throw the ball up in the air and catch it. A great way to practice batting is to get the plastic practice golf balls. You don't need allot of room with them. Use your imagination, get out there and practice!
Web Page Saftey
We will only use the players first name and in the case of two players we will use their initial of the last name. Such as Billy B.
We will never use instant messaging to contact players for Little League information.
Players should always tell their parents if someone contacts you over the Internet.
Opening Day
Hobart Little league will hold it's opening day on April 23rd. That is a Saturday. Usually around 9:00 they have a ceremony at the complex. We would like to see every one the for that. Then later in the day we will have a game. As soon as we get the schedules we will get them out to you. The games will also be on this web site.
Be Ready for anything.
please make sure you dress warmly for practice. Sometimes you walk out the door at home and it seams fine. But when you get down to the ball park your cold. With the open fields out there it can be quite chilly at the ball park. So be ready for the weather. Bring a jacket even if you don't think you need it. You will be happy to have it if it cools off down there.
Work Day
Parents: We can always use help getting the field ready for the season. And all through the season keeping up the complex. If you can find time to help we sure would appreciate it. Most Saturdays you can find people down at the park working on the fields. Also they need help with running the concession stand. That is one of the leagues big money makers. So come on down and get involved.
Hey What's the Score?
Who knows? In the Minor B's we do not keep score. The reason is that it is not a competitive league. We want kids to get to play many positions. And for the coaches to concentrate on teaching baseball and not thinking about winning the game. We want the kids to learn and to have fun. So next time your at a Minor B's game and someone asks who's winning. Tell them "they all are".
