Pack 10 Annual Pancake Breakfast

Pack 10 Pancake Breakfast Saturday, December 3, 2011

Union Church of Hinsdale located at 3rd and Garfield - Basement Dining Room

This event is our only fundraiser this year and we really need everyone's help to make it a success.  Each scout is given 10 tickets.  Please try to sell all your tickets!  The scouts should turn in the money collected and any unsold tickets the morning of the breakfast.  Scouts in uniform do not need a ticket and they eat for free.

Michael Ripani is our Pancake Chair, ripani45@aol.com and he will be sending out the schedule shortly.  Scouts should be in uniform,  They can eat with there families first and then join in their den shift.

We are selling advertising on the placemats for $25/square.  If you have a business or know someone who might like to advertise, please contact Michael.

Patches will be awarded to all scouts who work their shift.

Santa will be joining us around 9 a.m. so bring your cameras!

Some basic info about The Field Museum’s 2012 Dozin’ with the Dinos overnights

Bring your sleeping bag and explore one of the most exciting spots in town!

Dozin’ with the Dinos is a unique opportunity for Pack 10 families with children ages 6-12 to spend the night at The Field Museum. Spend your evening enjoying workshop activities like games from around the world or live insects from your own backyard. Enjoy a snack break to fuel yourself for a self-guided tour of Inside Ancient Egypt – in the dark! (Make sure to bring your flashlight!) Before you know it you’re listening to bedtime stories in the shadow of SUE the t-rex and crawling into your sleeping bag in one of our wondrous exhibitions.

Chaperones must be at least 21 years old.

What is the age requirement for Dozin’ with the Dinos overnights?

It is required that children attending Dozin’ with the Dinos overnights are between the

ages of 6 and 12. The activities offered are designed for children in this age range and

children who are younger or older would not find them appropriate for their skills and/or

interests. Children younger than 6 years are not allowed particularly because of the

program timeline: programming runs until 11:30pm with a bedtime of 1:00am.

The Field Museum is located at 1400 S Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60605

Welcome to Pack 10

Cub Scout Pack 10 is a member of the Tall Grass District (TG) within the Des Plaines Valley Council (DPVC) of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The DPVC Office, located on 811 Hillgrove Ave. La Grange, IL 60525, is home to administrative offices and The Scout Shop where uniforms, supplies, equipment and other scouting items can be purchased.  Store hours are Mondays-Wednesdays & Fridays 8:30 – 5:00pm, Thursdays 8:30 - 7:00 and Saturdays 10:00am – 2:00pm.

Registration:  New Scouts and New Adult Volunteers need to fill out a hard copy of the Scout Application and return it to the box at 118 West Hickory Street.  You can then go online at www.hinsdalecubscouts.org and complete the Registration.  The annual dues are $75 and can be paid online or with a check made out to PACK 10.   Blank copies of the Applications are also in the box.  The scouts will receive a handbook and neckerchief at their first meeting.  Dues also include the Fall Campout, Pinewood Derby Kit, all they can get at the Pancake Breakfast and other events throughout the year.

Cub Scout Uniforms:  Visit the helpful staff at the Scout Shop

· Blue Short Sleeved Cub Scout uniform shirt—buy it big—good for 2nd, 3rd grade (and longer if they like).

· Patches: One each of DVPC,  Pack 10, Den # & World Crest patches.

Rank patches are presented at the Blue and Gold Banquet.

 · Blue Cub Scout Belt (they can earn activity belt decorations)

 · Blue pants (it is optional to purchase blue Cub Scout pants—wear what you already have!)

· Employees at the Scout Shop can answer many questions you might have about uniforms and patches, etc. “Badge Magic” is sticky film that can be purchased to attach patches to uniform for those not wishing to sew. Also, local dry cleaners seem pretty capable and familiar w/ the uniforms.

· Optional: Cub Scout (blue & yellow) baseball hat
