HILTON CADETS 2015: Welcome

Congratulations to our Jon Schwind (Hilton Class of 2008) on being inducted into the Hilton Central School District's Athletic Hall of Fame. Schwind was a heavily decorated, 3-season, scholar athlete in Hilton (’05-’08). He went on to play Collegiate- Division 1 baseball for Marist College. Jon left the Red Foxes in 2011 when he was drafted into the Pittsburg Pirates organization. We are proud to call him one of our own. In Varsity Coach Jeff Murphy’s 10th season as a varsity Coach, He brings on a record-setting amount of Hilton Alumni to come and share their expertise.
Alex Coffey (’07) returns back to the Hilton Baseball Program this year as a Varsity Assistant Coach. After graduating Hilton in 2007, Coffey went on to play baseball at SUNY Cortland. This year we are glad to have Allen back on with the Varsity team as our Assistant Coach, specializing in Catching.

Patrick will take his love of the game (and the Boston Red Sox) and will be Hilton’s Modified A coach this season.

Vowles assisted the Varsity team in 2013 while completing his student teaching. Last season, Vowles received a teaching job at Lady’s Island Middle School in Beaufort, South Carolina, and coached their Modified Baseball team. Mike is now back in Hilton where he is a Scoial Studies Teacher at Merton Williams Middle School and is a Varsity Assistant Coach once again, specializing with the outfielders.
Jake Coleman (‘09) was one of the most dominate pitchers to come out of Hilton in the last decade. Coleman was only a Junior when the Cadets made a run for the state tournament. After graduation from Hilton, Coleman went on to play baseball at SUNY Brockport. Upon college graduation, Coleman received a job in sales for a local HVAC company and returned to the Cadets as Varsity Assistant Coach where he specializes in pitching and the middle infield.
Josh Mead (’10) is joining the Hilton Coaching Staff for the first time this year. While playing in Hilton, Mead split playing time between pitching and the outfield. Mead spent the 2014 baseball season as an intern with the Rochester Red Wings. This season he is a coaching intern from SUNY Brockport and will act as an Assistant Coach to the Modified teams.
John Ayers (’61) is one of the masterminds behind the scenes. Upon jumping onto the Hilton Baseball radar in the early ‘90s, Ayers is known as the historian of Hilton Baseball. Ayers moved to the Syracuse area in 2013, where he traveled into Rochester for each game. His commitment to the program and to the players is unprecedented. Ayers will serve this year as Webmaster to the Hilton Baseball Program.
Andy Fowler (’10) wears many hats within the Hilton Baseball program. Joining the Hilton Varsity team in 2005, Fowler first worked as a student manager to the team. Moving up the chain of command, Fowler now holds (the made up) title of Director of Game Day Operations and Statistician. With this title, Fowler announces, operates the scoreboard, plays the field music, keeps the scorebook, and contributes to the website. Fowler also works for the Hilton Central School District as a Teacher’s Aide at the High school and acts as Deputy Mayor to the Village of Hilton.
The Hilton Cadets Baseball Program would like to thank all of our Volunteer Coaches that make our program possible.
