Heat Wave Strong Defense Paves Way for Win

The Hillsborough SC Heat Wave took on the South Plainfield-Fanwood Freedom on a day where the weather for the week resulted in canceled games elsewhere.  The Heat Wave and Freedom battled back and forth in the first quarter with an end score of 0-0.  In the second quarter, the Heat Wave offense came alive and scored before the half.  The second half again was a defensive war, with both teams' offenses coming up short.  The Heat Wave won their second game of the season, with a final score of 1-0 over the SPF Freedom.  Go, Heat Wave!

Heat Wave Battle but Lose to Aberdeen-Matawan 1-0

The Aberdeen-Matawan Force was a force to be dealt with for the Heat Wave on Sunday, October 4.  The two teams were deadlocked in a defensive battle with just a smattering of shots on goal in the first half.  Both teams brought the ball towards the goal, only to be shooed back by the tough defenders from both teams.  In the fourth quarter, the Heat Wave defense faltered only once, giving up the lone goal of the day.  At the end of the game, the Heat Wave drove towards the Force goal, but were unsuccessful in their scoring attempts.  The Heat Wave take on the Metuchen Lady Rovers next in the first away game of the season.

Heat Wave Lose Close Season Opener vs. Flemington SC Tigers

On a hot September day, the Heat Wave battled the Flemington SC Tigers, but lost 1-0 after the Tigers scored a goal late in the second half.  The Tigers offensive attack was intense throughout the game, but the Heat Wave managed many highlights with shots on goal and defensive holds. In the end, the game was incredibly tight and could have gone either way.  We'll get 'em next time, Heat Wave!
