  Welcome

The Highland Soccer Stars is a soccer training/exercise program now in its fifth year working with high functioning kids on the autism PDD/NOS spectrum.

The program is coached and trained by Bob Cooper, a long time HYSC and USSF National "D" licensed soccer coach and father of two autistic children.  The program focuses on physical fitness and basic exercises within the framework of soccer training.  Exercises and running drills are mixed in with individual and group games to improve the conditioning of the kids and to keep them motivated.  For most of the kids, this is the first real physical activity they have done and the only "team" related sport they have been able to do.

The program runs from September to April indoors in the J.W.Lilley Elementary School gym.  There is no cost to participate in the program, although enrollment is limited.  Classes are held once a week for 1-2 hours.  Coach Cooper is assisted by Tom Storer, Vice-President at Highland High School, and by several volunteer high school varsity and college players.

For more information, contact Coach Bob at profcoop@yahoo.com.
