Super Series London
The Highlanders made there first appearance at the Super Series on the weekend, over all we did well, finishing 5th. We came bursting out of the gate with 2 wins on Saturday to put us in the winners bracket, and then came crashing down with 2 straight losses on Sunday. If nothing else we proved to ourselves that this is the kind of ball that we want to play, the Super Series provides competitive, serious, fun slo-pitch. Click on the pic of team to see pics and bios of the guys.
We've got a Piper down!
On the morning of Friday June 26 Jeff VanDam ( Dammer ) was hit on his Motorcycle by car, his is ok, but his leg was broken in 3 places and he has serious road rash. He is currently at Hamilton General with a couple of operations in his near future. All the Highlanders wish him a very fast recovery.
By the way Dammer, Jay's alibi checks out!! :)

The "H" are going to Newfoundland !!
This was the weekend where everything came together for the Highlanders. The squad where unstoppable, going 6 straight wins to get the qualifier for the Nationals in Newfoundland next year. Everyone of these guys gave 110% all weekend. Our star hitter was Scott Hammer, he got out only once the whole weekend. To see more pics of the weekend click on one of the pics here!

The Highlanders start the 2002 season the same way they started 2001, with a tournament victory. Solid efforts from all the boys lead to a 4-0 tournament sweep. Along the way some star performances were seen. Luis Barbosa led the way with a .910 average just ahead of rookie Ray Touvette with a .846 average. The Highlanders mercied 3 out of the 4 games with all players contributing. This one day tournament was the way the Highlanders wanted to start the 2002. Next, Kitchener on May 11th & 12th.

2001 Champions - Highlanders Three-Peat
The Highlanders have done it again. Victories in '99, '00, and now '01 has proved the Highlanders to be the dominant team in the league since the Bulldogs and Feedbags of the 90's.
The Highlanders zipped through the playoffs without a loss, winning 8 in a row, finally sweeping the Storm 3-0 with a thrilling victory in the final game. The Highlanders were down by as much as 10 during that game, but the veteran crew did't give up, coming back 3 times, with finally "the Hammer" crushing a homer over the rightcentre field fence to put the finishing touches on a great season.
Read more over the coming weeks on plans for 2002.
