HPLL/HTBR Field Renovation Updates
Highlights around the extensive renovation of all 3 Ford Fields and Nova fields
Norder (Hi-Tower Babe Ruth) Field
- The entire infield, home plate, baselines, foulines and mound were completely edged and reconditioned.
- All the lights were replaced with new bulbs.
The renovation of Norder Field will be completed this spring when we add a sprinkler system for the outfield, new foul poles, and a new batting cage down the left field line.
East Field
West Field
- Converted the into an intermediate sized field.
- 75’ bases and 52’ pitching mound (yet will still have flexibility of conversion back to 60’ and 46’ for Little League dimensions too)
- The batting cage in left field will be our very own “Green Monster” left field fence.
- Center field will be an imposing 250’ with a newly created pond beyond the fence (a la San Francisco Giants’ Stadium and the “Bay Shot.”
NOTE: Parents are free to bring their own canoe to try to catch a souvenir.
- Right field will be about 210’ this year, and about 235’ when the permanent fence goes in this fall.
- There is a new berm just beyond the right field fence which will provide a batter friendly “short porch” similar to the original Yankee Stadium which Babe Ruth thrived on.
After the 2010 season, the field renovation will be completed with permanent fencing, a regraded outfield, an expanded retention pond, and irrigation extended to the outfield.
More at Ford Fields
- The addition of a Picnic shelter
- Installed drain tile from the first base dugout of Norder field all the way down the right field line, past the concession stand and runs into a new storm sewer, and then into the new pond.
- Also regraded the parking lot to direct the water to the new drain tile.
Nova Fields
- Complete regrading and leveling of both infields.
- Addition of 400,000 pounds of ag-lime to the infields.
- Removal of the hump from the outfield grass at the edge of the infield,
edging of the outfield grass, and grass on the infield foulines.
- Addition of electrical power to the fields.
Nova fields project will be completed in the spring with the addition of bleachers and new base anchors, bases and pitching rubbers on both fields.
