What is Offsides?

Town of Oyster Bay Public Safety
As a reminder to our club members and community.  If you notice any unusual activity or misbehavior on or around any of the club's soccer fields or any other town facility please contact the TOB Public Safety Department immediately at 677-5350.  This is a 24 hour emergency phone number.

Micro Soccer Program

In the Fall 2007 season the club instituted a new program geared towards 3 year olds.  This program, Mini Squirts, is intended to introduce young children to soccer in a playful, noncompetitive atmosphere.  Please contact the registrar for further information.

Developmental Program

The HASC Developmental Program is geared towards advancing intramural age children's soccer skills. This program offers additional training and prepares the soccer player for Travel Soccer. In addition to their Intramural games the U9 Developmental Boys and Girls compete in a Pre-Travel League on Long Island. For more questions and registration information please contact the Developmental Commissioner -
Mike Poetzsch.

Goal Safety Reminder

As a reminder to all HASC coaches (Travel and Intramural) please insure all large goals (Walker Field, Kolm Park, OCR, Giese
and Burns) are anchored to the ground properly - either by sandbags or stakes.  This is to be done at all times - practices,
scrimmages and games.  There are numerous accounts of deaths and injuries from toppled over goals - lets all be safe
and diligent.  If for some reason you do not have access to needed equipment please notify the club immediately.
Below are some related Goal Safety links.

Risk Management

As of May 7, 2007 all HASC Intramural and Travel Coaches are required to complete the Long Island Jr. Soccer League and Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Risk Management process.
Click here to begin the process and note there is a $15.00 processing fee. For any questions contact the Travel Director.

Slide Tackling

The HASC Board and Intramural Commissioners would like to remind all coaches, parents and players that slide tackling is prohibited in the Intramural level. As of the May 7, 2007 Board Meeting the club instituted a new ruling where all coaches and players would be warned prior to each game that child tackling is prohibited and if a child slide tackles the referee will remove the child from the game. This is to protect the children from getting hurt. If anyone has any questions or comments please contact your group Commissioner or any one of the HASC Board Members.

Looking for Volunteers

As a reminder the Hicksville American Soccer Club is a volunteer ran organization. The club is always looking for volunteers. It may be for club committees, field maintenance, lining the fields, etc...

Become active in your club and community. Please feel free to contact the club if you are interesting in volunteering for fundraising, special projects, committees, coaching, etc. Email us at
info@hicksvillesoccerclub.com.

The next HASC board meeting will be on
August 25th, 2010 at 8:00PM. Location will be at Levittown Hall (by Levittown Park and Beech). We encourage all of our members to attend - these meetings are open to the general public.

Attention Coaches: The club encourages our coaches to take the Long Island Junior Soccer League coaching courses - the first is the "C" Course. This course will assist you with an understanding of the game as well as providing practice and drill tactics for younger children. It runs over a four night period - 3 hours each evening. The fee is reasonable and upon completion you will receive a certificate and then the club will reimburse you the complete fee. -
