Hicksville Strikers (BU16) Now Ranked #2 in the Country
The Larry Harmon Cup played on Sunday, July 26 featured Dallas Texans 93 Red (N-TX) playing against the Hicksville Strikers. Dallas claimed the US Youth Soccer National League title this year and earned the US Youth Soccer Double as cup and League champions, defeating the Hicksville Strikers (E-NY) in the Under-16 Boys championship final. Hicksville entered the final match leading the age group in scoring with eight goals lead by Colin Heffron and Keith McKenna's three each. Dallas Texans' Brandon Perez would collect and score the game winning goal in the 56th minute to defeat the Strikers and claim the Double with the 1-0 win.
The Strikers had an outstanding run at a National title and during the season going 21-1-1. No one from Hicksville has been able to do this in 29 years.
The Strikers are the #2 BU16 team in the country and #1 in Hicksville. According to Bill Merz, HASC President, who spent the entire week in Lancaster cheering on the Strikers said "Not only did the guys play great soccer but they also showed a great deal of class and sportsmanship the entire week. They were great representatives of our club. I have to say that they were the best team there this week."
The Strikers were also surprised to see over 20 supporters who traveled 3 1/2 hours each way by bus to see their last qualifier game on Friday in Lancaster, Massachusetts where t he Strikers defeated the Compton United Navy from Illinois by a score of 3-0.
Ken Parker, Strikers head coach thanked the entire Board and club for there support this year and in the past and said about the bus "I have to be honest and say I heard a rumor about the bus, but when arriving at the field seeing everyone it really hit me and was very special to the team and I."
The 2010 Youth Soccer Nationals will be held in Kansas and the Strikers will be working very hard to bring home a National title in 2010.

Micro Soccer Program
In the Fall 2007 season the club instituted a new program geared towards 3 year olds. This program, Mini Squirts, is intended to introduce young children to soccer in a playful, noncompetitive atmosphere. Please contact the resigtrar for further information.
Developmental Program
The HASC Developmental Program is geared towards advancing intramural age children's soccer skills. This program offers additional training and prepares the soccer player for Travel Soccer. In addition to their Intramural games the U9 Developmental Boys and Girls compete in a Pre-Travel League on Long Island. For more questions and registration information please contact the Developmental Commissioner - Irene Carlomusto.
Goal Safety Reminder
As a reminder to all HASC coaches (Travel and Intramural) please insure all large goals (Walker Field, Kolm Park, OCR, Giese
and Burns) are anchored to the ground properly - either by sandbags or stakes. This is to be done at all times - practices,
scrimmages and games. There are numerous accounts of deaths and injuries from toppled over goals - lets all be safe
and diligent. If for some reason you do not have access to needed equipment please notify the club immediately.
Below are some related Goal Safety links.

Slide Tackling
The HASC Board and Intramural Commissioners would like to remind all coaches, parents and players that slide tackling is prohibited in the Intramural level. As of the May 7, 2007 Board Meeting the club instituted a new ruling where all coaches and players would be warned prior to each game that child tackling is prohibited and if a child slide tackles the referee will remove the child from the game. This is to protect the children from getting hurt. If anyone has any questions or comments please contact your group Commissioner or any one of the HASC Board Members.
