2003 Girls State Championships (A-5A complete results)
May 10, 2003
Lady Patriots score 17 points to finish 10th in the State!
Delise May scored 6 points with a 3rd place finish in the long jump (17'6 3/4") and scored 2 points with a 5th place finish in the 400m (58.06). She also finished 5th in her heat of the prelims. of the 200m (25.6).
Jessie Wilson scored 7 points with a 2nd place tie in the pole vault (9'6").
Soibhan Wolcott scored 2 points with a 5th place finish in the 3200m (12:23). She also placed 9th in the 1600m (5:53).
The 4 x 400m relay team of Latisha Tatum, Tiffany Banks, Khristie Kennedy, and Delise May placed 5th in their heat of the prelims. in a new school record time of 4:06.
The 4 x 100m relay team of Latisha Tatum, Delise May, Quinette Everson and Khristie Kennedy finished 7th in their heat of the prelims. in 50.62.
Region 8-AAAA Boys (no results received)

Juniors Gary Dawkins and David Sanders will be representing the 2003 Patriot track team at the State Championships in Jefferson, GA.
With a 2nd place finish in the high jump with a mark of 6'2", Dawkins will make his second consectutive appearance at the State Championships.
David Sanders won the Region Title in the 800m in record breaking fashion. His time of 1:58.81 breaks the oldest existing school record of all HHS track and field events. Incidentally, the old mark of 2:00 was held by David's uncle.
Region 8-AAAA Girls Results
March 24, 2003
The 2003 Lady Patriots, led by Region 8-AAAA Most Outstanding Performer Delise May (32 points), claimed a 3rd place team finish behind Clarke Central and Cedar Shoals.
All told the Heritage Girls qualified for the State Champoinship Meet in Albany, GA in 8 events:
Soph. Delise May was Region Champion in the long jump and 400m(57.92, new school record) and collected a 2nd place finish in the 200m.
Jr. Jessie Wilson set a new Region 8-AAAA and school record in the pole vault with a vault of 10' to win the region title.
Fr. Soibhan Wolcott placed 2nd in both the 1600m (5:35) and the 3200m (12:16), personal bests for her to date.
The 4 x 100m relay team of Latisha Tatum, May, Quinette Everson and Khristie Kennedy
and the 4 x 400m relay team of Tatum, Kennedy, Tiffany Banks, and May will also advance to Albany with 2nd place finishes in the Region. This is the first time in school history that both relay teams will compete at the State Championships.

Monroe Relays (no results posted)

The Lady Patiots took home the 2nd place trophy just behind Parkview HS at the Monroe Relays. School records came in the 4 x 200m relay and the sprint medley relay team (Tatum, Everson, Kennedy, May)Delise May won the long jump, Jr. Tiffany Banks placed 2nd in the triple jump, and Fr. Brittany Brayton placed 3rd in the pole vault.
Scoring for the Patriot men's team were Sr. Nick Dyson in the shot and discus, Jr. Gary Dawkins in the high jump, and the shuttle hurdle relay team (Petit, Easley, Amerson, Dawkins).
2003 Boys State Meet Results
May 15, 2003
Gary Dawkins placed 6th in the high jump at 6'2" and David Sanders finished 5th in his heat of the 800m in 2:02.
Heritage 5K Classic
Feb. 15, 2003
The 1st annual Heritage 5k Classic, a fundraiser for the HHS track and field/cross country programs, was held at the Ga International Horsepark. Over 75 runners of all ages came from all over Georgia to participate.
Tom Kutter was the overall winner in 16:54.
Megan Drish, a seventh grader at Edwards Middle School, was the first overall female in 23:36.
Heritage's own David Tarr (4th,20:29) and Tom Fahey (6th, 20:35) were first and second respectively in the M 15-19 age group. Lady Patriot Jenna Kimble won the F 15-19 age group.
Volunteer Indoor Track Classic (complete results)

Jr. pole vaulter for the Lady Patriots, Jessie Wilson (pictured left) placed tied for sixth with a vault of 8'6" at the Volunteer Indoor Track Classic in Knoxville, TN. With this mark Jessie improves her own school record by 3".

The leading scorer for the Lady Patriots with 13 3/4 points was Jr. Tiffany Banks (1st- triple jump, 300m hurdles, 5th- 400m, 3rd- 4x400m relay)

The Patriots leading scorers with 12 points were Jr. David Sanders (1st- 1600m, 2nd- 800m, 4x400m relay, 3rd- high jump) and Jr. Gary Dawkins (1st- high jump, 2nd- 110 hurdles, 4x400m relay, 3rd- 300m hurdles)
Shiloh Relays (complete results)

The Patriot girls took home several medals, lead by the 2nd place finishes in the sprint medley relay (100m-100m-200m-400m) team of Tiffany Banks, Latisha Tatum, Khristie Kennedy, and anchor Delise May and the triple jump relay team of May, Banks, Jenna Kimble, and Kennedy. Jr. Jessie Wilson cleared 9'6" in the pole vault, a new school record. Both the sprinit medley relay team's time of 1:54.20 (2nd best in GA to date) and Wilson's vault of 9'6" (tied for 3rd best mark in GA to date) are honor roll marks for 2003 in the state of GA.
Lady Patriots win at Reid, Patriots are second

The Lady Patriots pushed their overall record to 5-0 with wins over last years region champs Rockdale County and Cathedral. The Lady Patriots were lead by the return of Soph. Delise May who won the 400m, anchored the winning 4x400m, and recored seconds in the long jump, triple jump and the 4x100m.
The men's team placed second only 7 points behind Rockdale County. The Patriots were lead by David Sanders and Claudell Pettit. Sanders picked up wins in the 800m, 1600m, and 4x400m, while Pettit grabbed first place in the 110 high hurdles and the 300m hurdles.
