Coach Smith is Hungtingtowns first baseball coach, joining the Hurricanes when the school opened in 2005. Prior to joining Huntingtown, Coach Smith was Head Coach at Calvert High [2000-2004] and an assistant at Northern High [1998-1999]. Coach Smith named 2006 All Extra Coach of the Year, 2006 and 2007 Maryland State Regional Coach of the Year, and 2006 and 2007 All County Coach of the year. Coach Smith was a four-year letter winner at the University of Maryland and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round of the 1992 Amateur Baseball Draft. Coach Smiths high school teams at Northern [1988-1992] won two regional titles and was a state semi finalist. He won several honors in baseball including All-SMAC [twice] and All-Met and was named Calvert County MVP. Coach Smith participated in the Crown All-Star Game and played for Team Maryland. Coach Smith also won All SMAC honors and a regional title in football. Coach Smith teaches health and PE at Huntingtown High. He and his wife Carrie have three children: Guy, Suzy and Kailey. Saturday, August 30 Varsity Assistant Coach Jim Donahue Coach Donahue has been coaching High School Baseball for over 12 years. Coach D began his coaching career at Calvert High as a JV head coach. Coach D continued as Coach Smith's assistant at Calvert and joined Coach Smith at Huntingtown High School. Coach D is the outfield coach, first base coach, and is in charge of the field and facilities at HHS. In 2007 Coach D was the Maryland State Grounds keeper of the Year..
Saturday, August 30 Varsity Assistant Coach Guy Smith Sr. Coach Guy Smith Sr. has been coaching high school baseball in Calvert County for 14 years and coaching baseball on all levels for the past 25 years. Coach Sr. began his carrer at Northern in the late 80's and continued coaching at Calvert High when Coach Smith Jr. was named the head coach. When Coach Smith Jr. moved to Huntingtown, Coach Sr. made the switch with him. Coach Sr. coached his son for the majority of his young career in areea leagues, travel teams, and in high school.. Now they have joined forces on the diamond to create that father son bonding as coaches for the last 8 years. Coach Sr. is the hitting instructor and bench coach for the Canes..
Varsity Assistant Coach David Jeansonne This is Coach Jeansonne's 5th season as an Assistant with Hurricanes Baseball. He is a Program Manager for the Internal Revenue Service of 19 years. Coach Jeansonne is originally from Southeast Texas and a graduate from The University of Texas. Prior to HHS, Coach Jeansonne spent 5 years as an Assistant with the Northern High Baseball Program and brings great knowledge in all facets of the game. Coach still plays hardball in an Adult Baseball League in the DC metro area and attends the National Adult Baseball World Series every fall in Phoenix, Arizona.
