5/30/08 2005 GRAD MCCLURG PITCHES WELL AGAINST GA TECH
2005 Graduate Brandon McClurg gave Lipscomb a chance to defeat national power Georgia Tech in the winner's bracket final of the NCAA Regional Tournament in Athens on Saturday, but ultimately the Bison fell to the Yellow Jackets 6-3. McClurg struck out six and walked only one hitter before being relieved with two outs in the eighth inning only to watch GA Tech take the lead on a double, 5-3. The junior was impressive all night long for Lipscomb and we are very proud to have an alumni represent our baseball program on a national stage. Congratulations to Brandon for a great season for Lipscomb.

5/16/08 SEVERAL COMMANDOS RECEIVE POST-SEASON AWARDS AT BANQUET
Our annual baseball banquet was held on Thursday May 16 with several Commandos receiving post-season honors as well as the Innagural Commando Baseball Hall of Fame Class being inducted.
HHS place four players on the 2008 All-District team, second only to district champion Mt. Juliet who had five players on the squad. Sophmore Left-Handed Pitcher Dennis Jones was named Left-Handed Pitcher of the Year in District 9AAA. Senior A.J. Dulay and Juniors Kendall Snyder and Ben Hendrix were named to the All-District Team. Brandon Hall, Hendrix and Snyder were also named to the District 9AAA All-Tournament Team! In addition, Kendall Synder was named to the USA Classic All-Tournament Team for 2008. Lundy Slaton was the winner of the Worth Scott award for 2008, our only team award which is given for pride and dedication to HHS Commando Baseball.
Also last night we inducted four former players and two former coaches into the Commando Baseball Hall of Fame. Chris Carroll, DeWayne White, Tommy Stamps, Gary Williams, Charlie Lewis and Bob White were our first group of people inducted into the hall of fame. All of them were present with their familes and each one had great words about their experiences as Commando Baseball Players and great words of advice for our current players. We were honored to have them present last night and excited to be able to create a Hall of Fame, making us the only sport in our school which has such. These players were given a plaque and their names will be on a bigger plaque in our trophy case in the gym lobby at school and their names will be displayed at each home game from now on! Also we have created a special section on our website for our Hall of Fame where you will be able to find pictures from last night's induction ceremony and a list of the each player inducted.
Thanks again to everyone for a great 2008 season and stayed tuned here as more Commandos will be up for more awards within the next couple of weeks!
