We have to remember that the Board members are all VOLUNTEERS. If we are interested in seeing changes to the way things are run at our ball park, then we should step up and volunteer for Board positions. That is the only way to affect change. As for the tarps on the fields, it takes at least 15 to 25 people to roll those on and off the fields, and it takes a good 20 minutes to do. It is VERY difficult to do in windy conditions also. Without a lot of help, it is impractical to do on a regular basis. Additionally, with the amount of rain we received recently, the tarps would NOT have helped to get that tournament restarted any sooner. I am sure this was a difficult decision for the Board, but with All Stars ramping up, we had to clear the schedule for those teams to begin their practice sessions, as well. I agree that there are a LOT of things that HGSL could do better, but I guess I am not as concerned about the tournament cancellation as others.

I personally am disappointed in lack of organization. I understand that committee may have jobs outside of HGSL and their own families to keep in step, but it seems that everything is always so last minute. I have played in Humble for years, years ago and NEVER remember things being so disorganized. The cancellation of the tournaments aren't fair to the girls in all age levels. They work so hard improving their game and look forward to the end of the season tournaments. After the coach called us the 3rd time about the postponement, I immediately asked, "what ever happened to the field covers the league was supposed to invest in?" I assumed that was the lump of tarp looking things on the sideline of every field. Why not make it mandatory for the last teams to play on the field (both teams), need to cover them...and the first team on the fields roll them up? No matter what the weather is planned to do. I really hope we see more organization next season and that everything isn't pushed into 1 month, that wears the girls out and takes away the "fun" of the game. I hope this is all taken as constructive criticism and not a gripe fest

understand, but lets fiqure a way to dig in and make it better for the next generation, and rest of our girls years,we travel 23 miles one way to play at humble, wish I could do more myself, our position is its the best park for us,any other would be 38 miles one way,I beleive voicing your thoughts and directing them accordly is a great option for a better park.letting the directors know is a good start.good luck and hope ya,ll return for fall ball.see little league you have to live in there boundrarys, not asa,as long as you can get your girl there she can play.hang in there.

To Mynar... We had already left before they cancelled the 7:30 games last Friday or my husband would have helped...as he has done in the past. I completely understand that there are some parents that don't help in any way, shape or form but my husband and I always help when we can. Our feelings aren't just based on this tournament being cancelled. There have been other issues in the past.

well,a negative comment is better than none, personally we were there as parents and when the lighting started I really do not think it was safe to put the tarps out, although we asked and was ready to help, but we are just parents,I see the board members doing all the work, this is a voluntary organization.we appreciate the hgls.so I suggest everyone pitch in and make it better.because every league has there issues.you do not have to be on the board to help out, just another concern parent as well, them tarps do not fly out there by there selfs.safety is first.more games the better, but maybe they will give us a 15 game season next year ha,lets pitch and see.

I am very dissapointed in HGSL for cancelling the end of season tournament. Both of my daughters are very upset that they won't be finishing the tournament. This is supposed to be for the girls and I believe that even if we had to wait until next week to finish, it should be finished. My 9 year old even made the comment "why don't they use the tarps?". The league spent a pretty penny on those tarps and it is a shame that they are not being used the way they should be. I hear people talking about how HGSL used to be so big. There were so many more players in the past and they don't understand why everyone is leaving. Well, with how HGSL is so unorganized and how it seems to always let the girls down, I completely understand why people leave.....

JUST A FYI. this new scratchcard is not a good idea.in my eyes.at least candy we could eat, tickets we had a chance of winning, just wonder who else agrees, will turn back in and pay the 100. out of pocket.besides the coupons not worth the effort.little more effort and free services could of been achieved.I vote to scratch the scratch card fund raiser.raymond mynar.
