Thursday, December 13 Eight Straight Oklahoma Premier League Championships The Canes won their 8th straight Oklahoma Premier Championship over the second weekend in December, 2007. With the Championship the Canes have never lost this award since they were eligible to enter the OPL in the Spring session of 2004. During this time their record has been 71 wins, 4 losses, and 5 ties. In those 71 wins, 59 have been shutouts. Another impressive statistic is the Canes have scored 279 goals and have only allowed 18 over the eight seasons. The Canes are looking to play up a year in the 2008 OPL season. Great job ladies. Canes Welcome Three New Additions Its that time of year again now that tryouts are complete to squelch the rumors and face the facts. The Canes welcome three new additions to the 2007-2008 roster. We welcome back Kate G. who was with us for the 2005-2006 season and last year played with the HFC '92 Cussen. Also, Helen, who last was with HFC '93 Beattie and Kristen who comes to us from Michigan. Our roster is complete now with a total of eighteen signed. When we gain some new players we also are unfortunate to lose some. This year Rylan has left us to join HFC '93 Beattie. We wish you well and enjoyed having you with us this past year. Good luck in the future. With these new additions we hope to continue our winning ways in our quest for another OPL Championship and to add to our State Cup Championships which would make it five in a row. Along with that we look forward to once again competing in the Sub-Regional League with the strong competition coming from Texas and Oklahoma during this Fall.

One more shutout score was added in another 1-0 victory. In the finals the Canes played the Mississippi State Cup Champions, Hattiesburg Storm, and yet one more shutout was earned. The final score ended in a 3-0 win and another championship is added to a long list for the talented ladies of HFC. The Grrrls Elite tournament is platinum rated and offered some tough competition in our bracket. This event was extremely well run and was played on some very nice pitches. All involved with our team enjoyed our entry in this event and also had a nice time in the Memphis area.

Another Plano Labor Day Championship For the second year in a row HFC '93 Shubert came back to Oklahoma with another Plano Labor Day Championship. The Hurricane ladies won two games and tied one in their pool and advanced to the quarterfinals in second place in their pool due to goal differentiation. The quarterfinal game was a shocker when FC Dallas scored two goals in the sixth minute but the Canes were only getting ready to put on a show of strength and dominence for the balance of the game. The Canes answered with three goals of their own and won the game by a score of 3-2 and advanced to the semis. The semis pitted the Canes with the Texas Longhorns White and our ladies held them scoreless while scoring two goals to put the game out of reach. On to the finals with Albion Hurricanes from Houston. Our Hurricane took early control and never let go to win by another 2-0 score. In the six games played the Canes won five, tied one and had twelve goals for and only three against and another PLD Championship to bring home to Oklahoma.

Canes Make Semi-Finals In HFC Cup The Canes made it to the semi-finals while playing up a year in the U14 division of the HFC Invitational Cup Tournament. Going 1-1-1 in pool play the Canes made the semi-finals to play NOKC United '92, the same team who had won the earlier pool play game on Saturday. Losing by the same score as the previous contest, 3-1, the Canes were not too unhappy as they were able to get out of the wind and cold. They now look forward to next weekend when the Oklahoma Premier League opens play. By the early forecast it looks like we might be in for the same weather pattern for next weekend. As for now it just feels good to be inside and out of the cold wind.

Canes Go 1-1-1 In Beat The Heat Tourney The Canes came out of this last weekend with a win, loss and a tie while playing up a year in the U14 Gold division of the Beat The Heat tournament. The girls won this tournament last year while playing in their own age division so it was decided to try playing up a year. The first game the Canes came up against a tough Dallas area team, D'Feeters '92, and fought to a 2-2 tie. The second game the girls faced an even tougher Dallas area team, DFW Tejanos '92, and were outmatched in a 4-1 loss. The third pool game the Canes earned their 2-0 win over Midwest City Fusion '92. That win was not enough to advance to the semi-finals. The good news was that our sister team, HFC Shubert '92 also playing in the same division, won the tournament. The girls will use this tournament as a learning experience in preparation for the upcoming Plano Labor Day tournament that will take place in Plano, Texas over the Labor Day weekend. As always, you can click on the above headline and view the pictures from this weekend.
Tuesday, June 14 Canes Welcome Two New Players After Tryouts
We did lose Lindsey Bach, who was one of our original girls, as she decided to go to HFC '93 Beattie. We wish her well with her new team. It is not like we won't see her almost as much as we did when she was on our team since we practice with the Beattie team. That is a good thing since we would miss her even more if we didn't get to see her and her family on a regular basis.

Thursday, May 12 Canes Close Out Season With A Win
This game closed out our Spring Oklahoma Premier League season with 8 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie and earned the Canes another first place league championship. Congratulations ladies. You have certainly earned this title. Our overall totals now stand at 94 wins, 9 losses and 14 ties. Now it is time to complete preparations for the upcoming State Cup Tournament. The Canes will try to repeat as Oklahoma State Champions. Sorry, there are no pictures as this game was played under the lights.
Monday, May 9 Canes Clinch League First Place With Two Wins On Mothers Day
The latter game was played in Yukon with some ugly looking skies to the south. These storms moved away and the Canes provided the storm in this matchup. It took awhile before the Canes got down to business but once the first goal was scored it seemed like the net opened up for four additional goals. Yukon kept fighting and was able to score one in the middle of the second half. The final score ended at 5-1. With these two wins the Canes assured themselves of a first place finish in the spring season of the Oklahoma Premier League. The Canes will close league action this coming Wednesday evening with a makeup game with our sister team, HFC '93 Beattie. As always you can click on the above headline for some pictures of both games played on Mothers Day 2005.
Monday, May 2 Dallas Friendlies
Our club would also like to thank the D'Feeter's parents and players for hosting another great picnic social for our two clubs. We always look forward to this and hope that we can keep this tradition alive for years to come. Our parents and players always speak highly of the D'Feeters '93. One of our Dads said that the majority of his daughter's instant message screen names are from the D'Feeters. You don't see this kind of relationship between two very competitive clubs from two different states very often and that is why this is a special one that needs to continue. As always, you can click on the above headline for pictures from the weekend.
Canes Triumph In Adidas Womens Invitational Cup
The semis came mid-day Sunday and we were going to face our hardest game of the weekend. Carmel United from Indiana came to play and it was evident that there was not going to be much scoring in this game. It proved to be true as the game ended with the Canes pulling out a 1-0 victory. After a couple hours of rest and refueling the Canes came back for the scheduled 2:40 PM final game only to find out it was delayed for another hour. At least we got to watch our sister team, HFC Shubert 92, win their championship game as it was played on the same pitch we were going to play on. Gwinnett SA Phoenix Red from the Atlanta area, advanced to the finals by playing Team Chicago HotShots to a 1-1 tie at the end of two extra periods and then outscoring the HotShots 4-2 in the shootout. The final game showed a little sloppy play for both teams as the girls were getting hot and tired. The Canes gathered a little extra towards the end and started putting it all together again and emerged victorious by a score of 2-0. The short trip over to the awards area to collect some hardware was a sweet walk. The tournament staff knowing that we had some parents and players trying to catch their flights and others ready to start their nine hour drive home were gratious in getting the awards ceremony started quickly. A beautiful glass bowl was presented the Coach Shubert. Afterwards he passed out the blue ribbon medals to the girls and it was off to get a team picture before we all dispursed for our trips home. Our thanks go out to the staff of the AWI and our opponents who gave us the competition that was exerted from all in teams in this tournament. Coach Shubert said we would be back next year and all the parents and players were glad to hear that announcement. As always you can click on the above headline for game pictures.
Monday, April 18 More Adidas Womens Invitational Pictures Click on the headline for more pictures from the Adidas Womens Invitational Cup in Brentwood, Tennessee. Wednesday, April 13 Canes Blank Blitz
As the offense was doing its thing, the defense recorded another shutout as it stopped all Blitz attacks before they could materialize. The Blitz keepers were kept very busy and made some tremendous saves or the game could have been even more lopsided. It seemed like all the just misses from the earlier games of the season were finding the net in this game. This was a much needed result as the Canes will travel to Nashville, Tennessee this weekend for the Adidas Womens Invitational Cup and will face some strong competition that they have not faced before. This tourney has invited many state champions and teams with high rankings from Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri and other regional states to participate. The Canes were fortunate enough to be included with this great group of assembled teams. As always you can click on the headline for the game pictures from this game.
Monday, April 11 Canes Tie NOKC
The Canes get back into action on Tuesday evening with a make up game with Blitz Navy, who tied ESC 0-0 on Sunday afternoon. This game will be played at the Union Soccer Club Complex. Game time is 5:30 so all players need to be there as close to 4:45 as possible. As always you can click on the above headline for the game action pictures of the NOKC game. Hope you enjoy them.
Saturday, April 9 Canes Lose To ESC
The second half found the Canes pushed up a little too far on an early ESC strong wind aided punt that ended in a breakaway and an ESC goal. Once that happened the Canes found themselves playing catch up with plenty of time to achieve a tie. ESC's defense did not falter and kept the Canes at bay for the final 15 minutes. With ESC'S win both teams came to each others home pitches and made the return turnpike trip a happy one by securing road wins. The Canes get back into action Sunday at BASC 4 at 4 PM when NOKC rolls into town for yet another important game in league action. As always you can click on the above headline for a link that has a bunch of game action pictures. Hope you enjoy them.
Friday, April 8 Canes Win Fourth In A Row
The Canes get back into action on Saturday at 11 AM in a tough tilt with ESC Black on the home fields at BASC. Sunday afternoon the NOKC United team comes into BASC for a 4 PM scheduled contest. Then on Tuesday night the Canes travel to the Blitz fields for another one of our many make-up games. As always you can click on the headline for a link to some pictures from the game. This was a night game so the pictures are from the sideline action instead of the game action.

Sunday, March 6 Canes Add Another Shutout By Beating ESC
In the second half the ESC long ball was not as effective going against the wind and very little play was in the Canes defensive end. We had some more close shots that grazed the goalposts and a couple of others that went just by the far post but fortunately those goals were not needed to secure the win. This was a game that was hard fought by two good teams and when these teams meet the result is always a great game. As always you can click on the headline to view some pictures from this games action.
Saturday, March 5 Canes Score Another Shutout On Blitz
Our keepers were only able to touch the ball a few times as the defense snuffed any Blitz attack almost as soon as it started. The Canes travel to Edmond tomorrow for another OPL game scheduled at 1 PM. We will be wearing all black for this game. Remember though to bring all of your jerseys for the just in case moment we have so often experienced. As always you can click on the headline for some action pictures of todays game.
Sunday, February 20 Canes Win OPL Opener
The second half was still played in the Canes offensive end despite a fairly strong wind aiding the Pride. The Pride was able to put a few runs together utilizing the strong punts of their keeper. These runs were snuffed out before any scoring chances could be finalized. The flu bug is trying to get the best of some of our players and it did take Rocket out for this game. As always click on the headline for some pictures of this game.
Sunday, February 13 Canes Take Runner Up Position While Playing Up In U13
All in all the Canes played some great soccer and held their own with their older and larger opponents in all 4 games. The competition level was greater than we could ever experience in the U12 division of this tournament. Therefore, what we took from these 4 games and the runner-up medals made this a memorable weekend. Another achievement was bestowed on our girls and coaching staff at the awards ceremony directly following the game. Each year HFC gives a special award, The Kevin Leggett Memorial Sportsmanship Award, to the team who displays the love of the game the way it is supposed to be played. This year our team was the recipient of this honored award. Coach Shubert stated that this is the best award he has ever received and congratulated our girls for their efforts. As always you can click on the headline for some pictures of the weekend's games.

Christmas Party We all had a wonderful time and not to mention some wonderful food at our recent Christmas Party hosted by the Loughlins. The Loughlins deserve a big HFC '93 Shubert thank you for letting all of us invade their home for this gala event. I think everyone, young and old, enjoyed this festive gathering. The girls couldn't wait to open the presents that were given to them by the secret drawer of their name. The girls each drew another players name and then were given a favorites list authored by their chosen player which helped in selecting the secret gift. Once the paper started flying there was stuffed animals, candy, tigger slippers, movie tickets, purses, USA womens soccer calendar, and other items too numerous to mention being hugged and shown to their teammates. This event ranks right up there with the other fine Hurricane memories that will remain with us for a long time. Thank you Loughlins, players, coaches and parents for your cooperation in seeing this party was one for the memory books.

Monday, December 6 Canes Win Fall OPL Season Championship
Monday, November 22 Canes Take Runner Up Position In TSC Challenge U13 Division
In the semis we were up against another much bigger squad from NOKC United '92. We had played them much earlier this year and they manhandled us from the start whistle. That game ended in a 3-1 win for NOKC. We were informed that this game would have shortened halves of 20 minutes each. The Canes played as hard as they had all weekend long and managed to score a goal in the first half to put the pressure on the older girls. The first half ended with the score of 1-0 with the Canes on top. In the second half the fields were getting worse by the minute with standing water on some areas of the field. Our girls kept putting on the pressure but were unable to score another goal and never let down defensively at any time which resulted in another victory for the Canes. We were on to the finals in a tough U13 division. The finals placed us with some familiar foes, PS United '92, which just happened to be the team we had beat 2-1 in our first pool game. The field was a bog of mud and now the halves were shortened to 15 minutes each. It was another hard fought game with few scoring chances coming from either squad and after two scoreless halves this contest went directly to shoot out. By this time I think we had had our fill of cold, wet, muddy conditions and a ball that probably weighed as much as a medicine ball. We just did not have leg power that the older girls exhibited and fell short in the shoot out. A brief on field trophy ceremony took place and then it was a mad scramble to get in our warm mud covered cars for the short trip home. All in all the Canes demonstrated that they were more than capable in hanging with teams that were a year older and in some cases about two feet taller. Congratulations ladies, you had a wonderful tournament experience. There were no pictures taken on Sunday as the weather conditions just would not allow our photographer to get his hands out of his pockets.
Saturday, November 20 Call Your Mudder The Canes Win Two
The first game pitted, and I used that word wisely, the Canes against a much larger team from the Kansas City area, PS United '92. The Canes looked liked mud bugs as they came out and scored two early goals and took control of the game. The score remained the same until late in the second half when United scored with about two minutes left in the contest. The Canes retained their gamemanship and once again took control until the final whistle resulting in a 2-1 victory. In game two the Canes took a little time to get their scoring going again but once it started it did not stop until the fifth goal was scored and their opponents, the Kansas ODP '92 team, were ready for the game to be over as they were not able to put together much of an offensive threat. The final score ended with another Canes victory at 5-0. Sunday's action will start again at 8:45 in the morning with not much hopes of any drying of the fields. Polaris '92 from the Dallas area will be our opponent in a game which will decide the winner of our pool and who will advance to the semi-finals later in the afternoon. As always you can click on the headline which will take you to a link that will have some pictures of today's action.
Sunday, October 31 Canes Scare Up A Couple Of Wins
It was Halloween on Sunday when the Canes came up against the Norman Fury and the only thing that proved to be scary was the weather. The rain subsided shortly before the 4PM game time and stayed away for the entire game. Once again the Fury put up a tough first half and kept the score at a meager 1-0 in the Canes favor. It was not long into the second stanza when the Canes opened up the scoring bag and added four more tallies to make the final 5-0. The Canes will end their fall regular season on November 13th when they face NOKC United in Oklahoma City. As always you can click on the headline for some pictures of this weekends games.
Sunday, October 10 Canes Take Two From TSC
Sundays game was even closer in the first half as it ended with neither team scoring. Once the second half started the Canes added a goal within the first minute. Another goal was added midway through the period to make the final score 2-0. The defense remained steadfast and recorded yet another shutout. TSC played a good game and kept the it close all the way to the final whistle. As always you can click on the headline for pictures of both games.

Sunday, September 26 Canes Win Two Over Weekend
Sundays game was our chance to make up for the earlier loss to ESC Black on their home fields. This time ESC traveled to our home for the second of our two meetings and this time we were ready for them. The girls did not wait for the second half in this contest and played hard early while scoring two first half goals. In the second half they added one more for an unsurmountable lead of 3-0. Our defense virtually shut the door all through the game as ESC was unable to mount any decent scoring chances. ESC always plays us tough and they did in this game too but the Canes were ready to take care of business. As always you can click on the headline for a link that will take you to some pictures from the weekend.
Canes Win One & Lose One In Opening Weekend
In Sundays game with NOKC the girls came out with a purpose and scored within the first two minutes of the game. They did not stop there as Bekah Stewart added two more first half goals to make the half time score 3-0. Bekah scored the hat trick by finishing nice crosses within the box. Emily added a second half goal to close out the scoring making the final score 4-0. The Canes will resume action next weekend with games with Blitz United Navy at home on Saturday and then traveling to OKC to face the NOKC United on Sunday. Oklahoma Premier League Schedule Posted
In a wild weather weekend with Saturdays temperature in the 70's and Sundays hovering around the freezing mark the Hurricane stormed through the competition resulting in another tournament championship. The Canes beat some quality competition like the Dallas Sting White, NOKC United, and SWU Comets from Kansas to win their pool. In the semis the Canes came up against the ESC Black and fought them to a score of 3-0. The finals pitted the Canes with Busch Soccer Club from Kansas City. It was another tough game with the Canes fighting both the Busch club and the weather. The final score ended with the Hurricane coming out on top by a score of 2-0. After a very brief awards ceremony everyone headed for the warmth of their cars with their trophies in hand and smiles on their cold faces.

Monday, November 3 Our TV Stars
I was going through all the pictures I took this weekend and found this one that I had not seen before. I just had to put it on the site. I can't figure out which one of our girls was brave enough to try this stunt. Any ideas?
Hurricane Wins Busch Challenge
Kansas City Soccer Club Alliance was our opponent in the finals that was played at 3:30 Sunday afternoon. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie but the second half led to two Hurricane goals within a five minute period of each other to seal the Championship. A short awards ceremony with an equally short picture session was held and then it was a six hour drive back to Tulsa. I am sure there were some droopy eyes in our school systems today but I know there were some smiling faces there too. This weekends pictures have also been uploaded to the albums section. Check them out.
Hurricane Reaches Beat The Heat Semi-Finals Three games on Saturday and three wins by Saturday evening. Our first game was at 10 AM against a fine FC Dallas team. We came out on top by a score of 4-0. At 2:30 PM we faced a very good D'Feeters team, also from Dallas. The girls were using their "A" game for this one and it resulted in a 3-0 win. Our last game of the day was at 8:30 PM under the lights when we were paired against the Highlanders from Tulsa. I am not totally sure of the score on this one but I think it ended up with us scoring in the double digits while recording our third straight shutout. With this win we won our pool and the right to go to the semi-final game at 11:30 AM Sunday. The Dallas Texans Red were worthy opponents and we were not quite "A" game ready for this one. We came out on the short end in a 2-0 loss. We have to learn from our losses and our victories and put to use what we have learned the next time we take the pitch. Congratulations ladies on another fine tournament. Pictures from Saturdays action are now in the album section.
Hurricane Soccerfest Champions Our first tournament and we earned our first Championship! In four games we outscored our opponents 35-3. Please see the standings section on the left of the screen for each game's score. Our offense was awesome and our defense was extremely stingy during the two day tourney. On top of this we were able to learn more about our positions and Coach Shubert's strategy. With this education we will likely become stronger day by day. We have now set our sites on the Plano Labor Day tournament. Congratulations Hurricane on your first Championship. Pictures from both days have now been posted in the album section.
