Welcome to Herndon Reston Fast Pitch Softball 2008

For the second year in a row Herndon Optimist Youth Softball and Reston Youth Softball have agreed to play as a merged organization. So it is with great pleasure our organizations present the Herndon Reston Youth Softball (HRYS) Spring 2008 season.
Herndon-Reston Youth Softball is a girls fast-pitch softball league serving players ages 6 to 18 in the greater Herndon-Reston, Virginia area. Separate spring and fall seasons are run with the objective of serving all the girls of the community regardless of their skill level.
In addition Herndon Reston Youth Softball is proud to continue its affiliation with Babe Ruth Softball. The primary emphasis of Babe Ruth Softball is on the local league season: education, skill development, participation for players at all levels of athletic ability, and to ensure the participants have FUN. From the house league season all-star teams are selected begins the annual tournament trail in June through August. Tournament teams from each local league are eligible to participate in District competition with winners advancing to the State and Regional levels. In addition an invitational tournament is held in August for all team that played at the district level. This season Herndon Reston Babe Ruth Softball will play in 4-5 highly competitive softball tournaments and in a summer Babe Ruth All Star league.

Fall 2008 registration is now open through August 17th 2008. Register early to participate in the Fall skills clinics being held in September and October 2008.

Fall Skills Clinics - Pitching and Catching
Fall Pitching and Catching Clinics Begin September 5th 2008
The Herndon Reston Youth Softball (HRYS) league pitching and catching skills clinics start every Friday evening in September and October 2008 at Haley Smith field. The dates for the clinics are as follows;

The Catcher’s clinics are 30 minute clinics starting at 5:15 PM be there time is 5:00 PM. Players will need to bring their gloves. The league will provide catching materials. Clinic will be over at 5:45 PM. At that time the catchers should stay to catch for the pitching clinic.
The Pitching clinics are 90-minute clinics starting at 5:30 PM. Be there time is 5:15 PM. Pitchers need to bring a catcher that is attending the catcher’s clinic or a partner to catch for them. Clinic will be over at 7:00 PM. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CATCHER YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PITCH.
Clinics are available to all registered Herndon Reston fast pitch softball players. This is a great time of year to learn how to pitch and catch. Come to the clinics and join in the fun.

HOYS 12U Babe Ruth All Star Thunderbirds District IV Softball Tournament Champs!
The HOYS 12U Babe Ruth All Star Thunderbirds went undefeated in the championship series sweeping their district opponets. By winning the Babe Ruth District IV Tournament the Thunderbirds have qualified for the Virginia State Babe Ruth Tournament to be held in Fauquier County beginning July 6.
Good Luck at the state tournament.

U-14 Babe Ruth All Stars Place Second in Babe Ruth District IV Softball Tournament

The HOYS 14U Babe Ruth All Stars were the runner up champions in the Babe Ruth district tournament held this weekend in Ashburn Virginia, The U-14 All Stars went 3-2 over the weekend only to lose in the championship game on Saturday.

Devils win U14 Championship
June 11, 2007
The HOYS U14 Devils win the league championship by a final score of 10-7.
Along the playoff path, the Devils reversed the only two blemishes on their record besting both teams that had beaten them during the regular season. The Devils championship run ended with a final record of 13 wins, 2 losses.
