Tournaments

The team plays between eight and nine tournaments per year.  Three or four of these occur in the preseason and are local in nature.  These tournaments are utilized to evaluate the players heading into the regular season.  In late May the team participates in the Maryland State Championships.  Starting in late June, following the end of our regular schedule, we embark on a vigorous tournament schedule.  Our post-season schedule usually includes at least one regional event that covers a three-day weekend and one or two national championship/world series tournaments.  The national events are often a week long and encompass extensive travel and lodging.  We consider national events to be an important element in the development of players as they will become accustomed to competition from national and international teams.

Over the past few years this team has competed in ECTB, AAYBA and AAU National championships in addition to participating in the Cooperstown Dreams Park national event.  These events involved travel to the Mid-West, Northeast and South.  Competition in tournaments from St. Louis to Orlando has helped prepare players for the highest level of play.  The team has reached the semi-finals in many of these national venues.  In 2010 the team won the prestigious “Around the Horn” completion at Cooperstown vying with over 100 teams from across the Nation.
